Yes, actually. Hoping to wrap it up in the next week or so. I needed this motivation 😂

Was the tube that went into the manifold and egr tube and do you need a plate to block that off or does it come with it or it’s a non issue?
@mattd999215 күн бұрын
is it worth getting the pan or a spacer in your opinion as the baffles aren't that large, does it still keep the oil centred on the pick up tube do you think ?
@OldDatsun12 күн бұрын
From reading other people's experiences, the baffles still keep oil centered around the pickup. They are small but they do help keep more oil centered for the pickup.

While a light flywheel will help it rev faster, you sacrifice a lot of drivability. For a mostly tracked car not a big deal. For a street car the juice is not worth the squeeze

How did it just come out of the tunnel? I had to flip my trans fully upside down to get out and it really doesn't want to go all the way back in lol
@OldDatsun3 ай бұрын
Yeah the crossmember is really annoying. I had to flip it on it's side and wrestle with it. Flipping it on it's side seemed to give me the most leverage to maneuver it out and back in.

You talk about the gap dimensions for the new cams in the beginning of the video, can you give our information on how those are set what you do to verify and where the dimensions are thanks.
@terrymurry39613 ай бұрын
I found where you talk about this but you used a stock cam. Do you have anything on a more aggressive cams installation?
@OldDatsun3 ай бұрын
I should have shown it but you use a feeler gauge between the cam lobe and the pads on top of each valve when the valve is closed. Although they are larger cams, these gaps are still the same as stock. This is also why I was able to reuse my original pads. The gap is the distance between the lobe when the valve is closed and not when the lobe is depressed on the pad, opening the valve.

great video.. only one thing.. A torque wrench should never be used to loose bolts.. it gets uncalibrated if used for that. Only use Torque Wrenches for tightening bolts. Other than that, great work!

Yup learned that lesson when I first posted and have since purchased breaker bars. At least that's only a $30 harbor freight wrench haha.

Never heard anything but did you have to set the number 1 piston to topdead center first
@OldDatsun6 ай бұрын
Yes, I set piston one to top dead center. It has an indicator on the rear timing cover but I also verified top center on piston one by measuring it before installing the cylinder heads.

Did you line up tdc before installing the cams? I have a de that’s needs some work so awesome informative video, cheers
@OldDatsun6 ай бұрын
Yes I left the first piston at TDC but the cams won't sit exactly where you need them. After I installed the cam gears and lined up the timing chains I still needed to adjust the cams with a wrench to get the correct positions.

Did you check your lifter cap see if it was the same after all the machine work

Yes, I made a chart for where each lifter came from and reinstalled them accordingly. I also checked all of the gaps between them and the cams once they were installed

Correct me if I'm wrong but the HR oil pump doesn't fit the De engine, TMK the upgrade is the rev-up oil pump from the VQ35DE rev-up motor. If you need a bigger upgrade the that would be boundary billet gears.
@OldDatsun7 ай бұрын
You're correct. I misspoke on this. This oil pump is from Concept Z Performance and is sold as a rev up oil pump upgrade that fits into a DE. This is also a cheaper option than going for billet gears and fits better for my build. Here's a link to the oil pump if anyone is curious. conceptzperformance.com/nissan-infiniti-nissan-oem-oil-pump-revup-upgrade-for-vq35de-nissan-350z-infiniti-g35-15010-ac70a_p_2033.php
