i’m on Hasan’s side with most things but this was painful to watch. when the chatter brought up that the projected negative health effects to the population of the surrounding area (for this specific disaster) was under one, hasan says “just because ur face doesn’t get melted off instantly doesn’t mean your not gonna get cancer and birth defects and stuff” (paraphrased). he obv doesn’t understand that those projections included that. this is where the distinction between genuine nuclear scientists who work in or study the field and nuclear andy’s who wanna know how many people will be vaporized if the strongest nuke is dropped on NYC, become convoluted. the people who make these projections are an extremely smart massive group of people who work in coordination with the government immediately after a nuclear disaster has ALREADY happened, they use nuclear science and math (and other things i also don’t understand) to make projections about the dangers (every form of danger) associated with the disaster and these calculations are rigorous and extremely precise. they have to be, because the government and the association of nuclear people who cleanup these disasters rely on these calculations. in fact, the government and atomic association (or whatever tf idk what it’s called), their entire response to the disaster relies almost entirely on these calculations, otherwise how would they know how to clean up this disaster? you can’t just start cleaning up a nuclear disaster with a bucket and mop having absolutely no idea what the dangers of this specific disaster are, and how to appropriately and safely respond. the entire cleanup effort relies solely on these calculations, so yes, they included things like cancer. and yes, the projected deaths from this specific disaster were under one. not 0 because these were very complex math calculations and they rarely ever produce an even, round number. and this is simply from the effects of the nuclear disaster and its aftermath, not numbers about the aftermath of the actual tsunami itself ofc. not a nuclear andy by any means, just a guy who loves science and kyle hill my GOAT honestly

The Italian restaurants in Scotland are generally owned and staffed by Italians. The have access to particularly high quality produce from Scotland and easy access to imports directly from Italy. Restaurants in the USA normally can't say any of that. Most don't employ any Italian born staff at all or use ingredients from Italy.
