As you may have guessed I'm not a fan of these Christmas/Advent boxes as they've got bugger all to do with Christmas and there just a cynical cash in, seasonal beers to me are chocolate Stouts/Porters, Barley wine and spiced ales, I don't think your going to find many of them in here.

@@andrewcarr5923 I know what you mean, I suspect what I have here is their back catalogue, no doubt they have a warehouse full of odds that they get to use up in the boxes. My favourite Christmas ale is a pale, saltaire white Christmas almost, but not quite Christmas in a glass.

Madam Director tells me that none are repeated, and as I don't know another brewery with such a large range, I'm guessing a fair few will be their supermarket range. But being as though I've not tried many and certainly wouldn't pick up 24, I'm quite looking forward to this.

I wonder, if this had been marketed as a porter instead of a stout, would it have changed your opinion on the body? (which I agree with, stouts SHOULD have full bodies.) I always attribute porters to having a thinner body than a stout, but maybe that's just me?

Hi David. A stout needs to be rich and indulgent, especially when combined with chocolate and orange. Ummmm, your review may or may not persuade me to try it. I’m concerned by you saying it has a “thin” mouth feel. As always, a cracking good review. Thank you. 👏👏👍😀🍺

Not being of drinking age in the 70's either, but being brought up in a Pub, an Ansell's, later Tetley's, House. I can confirm the overwhelming choice of drink was Bitter, delivered in huge 36 gallon kegs. There was one Mild pump and one Lager (Skol). In bottles, you had Double Diamond, Light Ale, Guinness & Mackeson, and that was yer lot.

I am not exactly sure but I believe this and the love lane brewery are under the ownership of the home bargains owner? I have yet to have a home bargains own beer attempt that was any good. I guess at that £1.39 price point they're limited but for not much more there's better beers available. On the other hand Home bargains do get into their stores a variety of European lagers that are generally decent.
@ivehadworse771311 күн бұрын
@@Ngamer834 you are not wrong, Scott of Scott reviews and one of my other commenters mentioned the take over, that’s why you only find Lovelane in homebargins. As you said a fair number of the continental and foreign lagers are not bad, it’s just a shame these are shocking.

Hop extract doesnt violate the purity law since its just another form of hops, plus the law itself doesnt specificy the form of the hops (fresh? Dried? Pellets?). A common practice that is the closest to a violation of the reinheitsgebot would be the addition of minerals into the brewing water imo.
