Since You've upgraded your camshaft on a 1.6 liter engine. What kind of camshaft would you recommend for a 2 l 8 valve engine? Cheers!
@Jims_racingАй бұрын
@@tolinanelda2448 this is a 1.8 8v. The cam doesnt really have effect on different engine capacity. It all depends on your engine built and what you want. The 268 i run is a good allround road cam really. If you want to something with higher lift youll most likely need uprated springs and retainers etc…

Stay left down park straight mate. Everyone wanders either to the middle or right and I have no idea why
@Jims_racing5 ай бұрын
@@gynads i think theres a few reasons, 1 is im trying to get a tow from the car infront so i tend to follow their lines, and second the incline seems less steep on the right hand side, plus is means you can straight line the little kink in the track, in a low powered car keeping to the left would mean steering to the left up the hill and i guess any steering angle loses you speed. This is some of your best footage yet mate! Really enjoyed it! Have you got a short shifter installed? The throw looks perfect for quick changes
@Jims_racing6 ай бұрын
@@MisteryHatch thank you mate! 😎 Yeah the shifter is a bit of a home made thing. Ive raised the gearstick up in the car so its closer to the steering wheel, that actually means the throw at the gearstick is longer, so ive got an off the shelf short shifter and then ive remade the selector shaft shorter, again to reduce the throw. It will put more strain on the box but from a driving standpoint it feels fantastic.

shifting skills are on another level! gearbox and shifter are stock? i have a mk2 16v fully stock, what cam and exhaust line (4-2-1) or (4-1) config for 16v kr stock engine would you recommend?
@Jims_racing6 ай бұрын
@@jaimefanjul7334 thanks mate. Yeah the box is stock. The shifter is a bit of a homebrew, the gearstick has been raised up and ive made some new brackets and linkages for the shift mech to shorten the throw. It means the gearbox will have more strain… but it makes the driving experience much nicer. A cam and decent manifold will make the world of difference. Alot of people overlook the importance of an exhaust manifold on an n/a car. Try and get a manifold that has the longest runner length you can before the collector, 4-1 would be the preference. Cam wise it depends what you want, but i think a 272 on a 16v would be best of both worlds 👍🏼

@Jims_racing6 ай бұрын
Hi mate, theres really next to no difference between the 2 cams to be honest. It all depends how far you are going with the engine? As standard they dont really like to rev, but they are torquey, so the 268 just gives it a little more oomph throughout the rev range, and pulls all the way to the redline, unlike the standard cam which tails off at 5k ish. So either will be fine.
