Song mode never went away. Track mutes temporarily went away, an oversight, but was brought back pretty quickly and far more powerful than it was previously.

Most overused word in the music industry, "workflow". If I had to take a shot every time I heard this word mentioned, Id die of alcohol poisoning in under an hour. I have an MPC Live 2 and a Force, as well as an MPC Live 1 (when I upgraded to the Live 2, I kept the 1). What no one talks about is using these devices together. I have my Live 1, 2, and Force all connected together and what you get is the best of both worlds. With MPC beta 3, Ive been having a blast. The Force lets me finish tracks and makes it easier to add polish to completed tracks. Not that this is not possible on the MPC, it totally is, but the MPC is just a bit more challenging gluing the sequences together in a homogenous way that is more than just track mutes or something lame along those lines. MPC Beta makes it much easier to do this, but it still is not quite as nice as the Force in this regard. However, use the Force in conjunction with an MPC and what you then get is the idea of creating an entire 80 minute set, especially with two MPC's. Start creating keygroups using the instrument plugins, and this whole thing becomes a force to be reckoned with. The Force also gives me the ability to create and play with ideas in a more live setting, which has resulted in some creative accidents that took some of my tracks far beyond what they were originally. In the MPC, tracks tend to be less dynamic, sequences tend to be more or less copies with tracks muted. The Force tends to have sequences (called scenes in the Force world, but they are the same thing) that are more dynamic, with things like filters, sweeps, envelopes, massive delays, etc that change dynamically because the Force makes it really, really easy to play around with things like this. The irony is, the Force allows more life in a track than the Live. This doesnt mean, especially with the beta 3 firmware, that the MPC is not capable of doing the same thing as the Force, it totally is, it is just more surfaced and easily available on the Force. Which is better? The form factor of the Live 2 is more comfortable to work with, button placement better, screen placement, better. Featurewise? The Force is better. While MPC Beta 3 brings the MPC about as close as it will ever be to the Force, the Force still offers 64 pads with a step sequencer on the pads, and clip launching, both of which the MPC can never have unless this is implemented on the screen somehow. The knobs are a huge deal on the Force, with the OLED telling you exactly what they are doing. With the MPC now having the arranger view and macroable q-links like the Force has, the MPC is no slouch. The Live 2 and Force can each be had for $600 a piece on the used market and quite frankly, I wouldnt part with either of them, I prefer my MPC for sketching ideas and my Force for taking those sketches to a more polished production. It should be noted, neither of these machines can quite get a track mastered as well as a PC can, but, you can get pretty damn close, albeit with alot more work than doing it on a PC.

Hey Mike, Im trying to get my head round of why youre taking it from Bitwig to Force? Just because you want it in the force for performance? I could see the logic of how youre building it like that. Just looking for a little clarity. Im looking at selling the force as recently went back to a daw, Bitwig. Almost seems like just sampling bitwig in the force, then adding beats from force? If you could claify that would be awesome bud!

I think the force isn't intuitive. pulse the audio interface blows out rather quickly. my audio interface blew out with a month! I think the best way to make production is to use independent devices connected to a mixer, then transfer each channel to a DAW. They didn't put enough high quality parts into the force. a device that's 1300$ with only 2gb of ram???? I can just use a 300$ computer and buy a DAW for a smooth arrangement. The all in one idea is a good IDEA. but the engineering has failed. i can use the OP-1, and the KO11 by teenage engineering connected to a DAW and sample any sound i want from my computer, or an external mic. I can do all this without needing to fumble around with the clumsiness of the force. In my opinion. Separate stations that have there own purpose, beats an all in one device. the force is a failed execution with a HUGE price tag for what your getting

Guy like me who is multi-instrumental, having BOTH is necessary. If you work your projects on the Force at home, you can carry the Live 2 in my BACKPACK and take it and my FLUTE anywhere and play. With the USB input ports, I can plug in my Rode USB microphone and flute with effects, And THE BATTERIES AND SPEAKERS are self-contained on the LIVE 2 so nothing else needed. That's MY reason for keeping BOTH. Also, I just picked up a Force on eBay with a 1TB drive for $536. No brainer to keep BOTH. Here's the bottom line, if you watch the NAMM video where the Akai rep shows how the Force is an INSTRUMENT in it's own right, it will show you how important to have at least it, and if you HAVE to, the Force would be the one you really need. FORCE price is going way down, bros.😎
