Elephant and cow manure are full of least competition nutrients. The animal's digestion has taken care of any would be pathogens or any environment that would compete for (food) what the (Mycelium) mushrooms need to grow.

After the bags are innoculated, i will put them in a tote. Should I throw the lid on it or will that not be enough would there be an issue with airflow

Something you might try is PH adjusted water - PH11 or PH12. You don't want to hose the cakes down with it, but the second you see green or pre-green trich, give it a spritz. The myc doesn't like it... but its not lethal to it. but it kills the trich immediately.

In regards to your question as to why we got to be so sterile when growing indoors,when other strains grow in manure, I think some of the modern strains aren't natural, they're man made and extremely vulnerable to contamination

From what I’ve learned about mushrooms I haven’t grown any but I’ve been researching a lot try wood chips on top of the aluminum foil. From ever natural gathering I’ve seen the bigger ones are always growing in wood. Your channels amazing thank you can’t wait to grow

They do get contaminated in nature. Ive seen mold like stuff as well as the usual pests you gotta worry about. Lol i was in the middle of eating a dish i had used wine caps in when i noticed some white worms. Freaked me out a bit but i guess its just more protein. I was worried if they were parasitic and could be harmful for me but nothing ever came of it.

After a year of use, are you happy with that filter? I am considering ordering it but a few of the comments on Amazon mentioned it was a true HEPA and they have had issues. How has it worked out for you? @therookiemycologist
