Hey Rookie, no disrespect but this information is misleading. Mushroom extraction is more complicated than the process described here. From this video, you would be getting drunk before even feeling a micro dose. Im curious why you did not comment on the effects of the tincture? The material you threw away still has 99% of the active material inside of it. You should always try out the solid material to verify whether or not there are actives remaining. Anyone considering mushroom extraction can only do TEA with water and maybe freeze the tea ice cubes to store it for a few weeks. anything else will be a waste (unless you invest in $2000+ extraction equipment - sonication etc.). Bottom line is that these machines are not capable of piercing the chitin to effectively extract actives. This is not what you want to hear and this is not what I want to be saying but it is the truth.

You're right that it would be a decent dose of alcohol to get good dose from the extract, so there could be a problem there, but the alcohol could be reduced or evaporated off to correct the concentrations. 99% is way off though. The alkyloids are polar and alcohol+heat+agitation is going to get a large portion of it out, though 4 hours isn't very long. Water is of course better because it can freely enter in and out of the cells, but the denaturing effect of ethanol is gonna disrupt the cells enough to bring it out too. I can't defend the mushroom infused oil though.

@@Jonathan_Kordsmeier Thanks for the comment, I was afraid my initial post is a bit aggressive but I don't want anyone to lose their medicine. I hope everyone can just takeaway from this that the best way to consume your medicine is with a tea, anything else can potentially be a waste. I am glad Rookie posted this but it needs to be clear that this is experimental and not the most effective way of consuming the medicine. In my extraction experience the first alcohol pass pulls so much sugar out of the mushroom that the actives don't dissolve because all the sugars dissolve first. I said 99% because you get mostly sugar in the first pass, second pass also has a lot of sugar and then the third pass is most concentrated in my experience. Also, shockingly I have tested these extracts and my efficiency (with 3 passes of ETHANOL) is 3% recovery from extraction. Its complicated because the bioavailability is so high it will FEEL 10x stronger and make you think your achieving 30% recovery of active but it is actually 3%. 3 or even 30% is too low unless you are growing your own supply

A proper alcohol extraction takes about 6 weeks with 190 proof alcohol for a proper extraction.Can use an ultrasonic machine to get it done in about 90 mins. Also for the amount of alcohol you used to the ratio of fruits the tinctures will be extremely weak.

There are approx 140mg of psilocybin in the entire bottle. 10mg is a microdose. You should reduce the alcohol by evaporating on a hot plate to make it more potent.

Mushrooms need a dual extraction when it comes to tincture. A better method would be to soak them in ethanol for few weeks until liquid is dark, strain them and dry the mushrooms. Then take the now dried mushrooms and do a water extraction, mix the two extractions together.

Lemon tek. All you need is a lemon. The citrus extracts the psilocybin from the mushroom. A couple of good things with that is, no creatine intake from the mushroom, so no upset tummy. Also, the citrus increases the effect of the psilocybin, more bang for your buck!

Psilocybin is water soluble. It doesn't really dissolve in alcohol like cannabis. So using the 120 proof alcohol would be better.

Thats not true at all, alcohol must be used to have any real purpose of extraction. Water can then be added to the alcohol extraction afterward if it is emulsified correctly for the same even distribution, but shelf life will be less stable or predictable.

You have to have a secondary chamber outside of the actual still (like the aromatics in gin) that holds the shrooms and feeds back into the still, and leave it cycling for several hours. Fungi academy has a much better video on double extraction, which is way more effective

The ever clear is completely unnecessary, and potentially unsafe if you are not adding adequate amounts of water before consuming. 80 proof vodka will do the job, it just takes longer. 100 proof vodka is ideal, because its already 50% alcohol and 50% water, so it's extracting equal parts of the alcohol and water soluble components. With everclear, you are not getting a balanced extraction, you are only getting alcohol soluble properties, unless you do the math and figure out how much water you need to add, for a safe, balanced, 50/50 extraction.

@@articstang you can add citric acid to the recipe to extend shelf life. Also freezing them right away then removing from molds to air dry for 24 hours helps them stay stable. Then keep in fridge for long lasting gummies.

i understand that you're learning, but you need to do more research first. a good chunk of the active ingredients is WATER SOLUABLE and requres an additional soaking and simmering after the alcohol stage, this is literally a part 1 video...the alcohol stages does not require heat either. also, it is important to grind up the mushrooms with a grinder, mill or food processor, you mislead people by telling them that grinding them up is unnecessary...
