6:23 I love how the official emphatically throws the penalty flag at the OSU player 😂. He might be charged with assault for that now.

Even the Buckeyes had No name on the back of their jerseys in 1978. I’m probably one of the few that wishes Penn St would put them on the back in 2024.

All you have to know is every writer in Ohio and Michigan who voted in the AP poll voted for Nebraska. The idea that Penn State could come into the Big 10 and in their 2nd year as a conference member run the table was too much for them to handle. SMH.

This is one of my favorite Penn State football moments, all these years later. This was the beginning of the turnaround and the end of the period of time many of us call the Dark Years (began in 1999 with the Minnesota field goal).

This was during a time in which there were INDEPENDENTS GALORE, and yet college football went about it's " business" just fine. Now...the game has self- deleted much of the rivalries,& traditions that made it special. Yet another unbroken American treasure that society decided to "fix".

How did WVU go from the 88 team to whatever the hell I just saw. That WVU RB for WVU murrell started for the AZ cardinals for several seasons! You’d NEVER see such a gaping difference in talent like that in college football today. Overwhelmed and smothered at every second of play. I’m utterly embarrassed for this 💔 of a WVU football team. They couldn’t even get crap points against the back ups. And this team two years later goes 11-0 two years later, btw. Insane! 😂

I remember watching this game on VHS. I was living overseas and received care packages from home with Penn State and Steelers games. I would watch them multiple times to help with the homesickness which is probably why I have this one burned into my memory 30+ years later.. I vividly remember Paterno talking about the fake punt before half time. The team had enough mistakes in the first half for him to light them up in the locker room.

This defense was the typical bend but don't break!!! They were fantastic, Shane Conlin and Andre Collins were phenomenal and D.J. on the offense as well!!!! I loved when we went into the Fiesta bowl all about business!!! And, Miami got off the plane wearing military camaflouge and laughing, and then we intercepted Testaverte 5 times!!!!!!

Frank Solich should have been fired after this blowout. There was very little creativity and no defensive adjustments. Penn State threw screens, delayed run plays and play action all evening. The game with Miami showed cracks and flaws in the program and many thought it was due to talent differential. This game showed that Solich and this staff were not right for this job. Nebraska was actually the more talented team yet were blown out due to a lack of preperation, complacency, inability to adjust and the lack of creativity.
