Great video!! It was exactly the explanation I was looking for!! I have always used the tips of my thumbs on the gimbals but I realized that by holding them between my thumb and forefinger I can perform less impetuous and more precise maneuvers... however I think that as you say in the video both methods are correct and should be used depending on the type of flight!!

This is very helpful!!! I’m at 6,000 ft in Colorado and our density altitude is 9k right now. Props here have less ‘bite’. Would a 27x11 be worth trying? I’m just getting into big gas planes and have a SW ars300 w/ gp123cc. It came with a 28x9.5 bit I like to fly with a consistent throttle like you. Thanks!!!
@RC-AirАй бұрын
So I have a friend in Colorado that has flown an ARS for years. He’s using a 29x9 in the colder months and a 29x9w in the hot months to get a little extra bite. Hopefully that helps. The 27x11 will likely make the plane feel really heavy and droppy in stalls.

At 64yrs old, I'm a bit late to the game but better late than never right? Upright elevators and harriers feel almost relaxing now, but inverted harriers, and especially rolling harriers are spooky. I'm working on the sim, trying to translate from sim to the real world, and can see that there is a corrolation between stick time and progress. I find your videos very informative and down right encouraging. Please keep them coming! I live in northwest Georgia, a little over an hour away from your favorite northwest Georgia field. Hopefully I'll bump into you one day.

Thanx! What would the difference be on a 27 inch or a 29 inch? I’m trying to find the right size for my plane. I don’t have enough vertical.

Hi Don, I know you've been busy, but I have a puzzle about this. I'm using an NX-8, AR-620, Castle Creations talon 90 and XPWR -22 on an Ultimate biplane glow to electric conversion. (Video coming) I powered the ESC early in the build to center servos and set the throws etc. Now that the motor has been added, I thought I did the calibration correctly. Throttle up when connecting battery. The ESC connects. Throttle down and the motor "arms". Seems to work fine. Check throttle cut. Everything is good to this point. Turn throttle cut off, and the motor suddenly starts (at about an idle) but I have a dozen planes and none have ever done this. As I adjust the throttle trim down to about minus 60 the motor slows to a stop. But this is the first time I have had to trim my throttle down. Kind of dangerous since I thought the plane had been safety tested and then... "Hey! Why did the motor start?" Any ideas? Thank you. Edit: Problem diagnosed: Throttle cut on other planes recommended -130% I checked it against my U Can Do with the exact same power system and throttle cut was set to only -100% So I adjusted throttle cut to -100% and works properly now. Interestingly, as I adjust the throttle trim up, the motor begins to spin at about 58-60. So I surmise the ESC was getting sent a "new low" by the throttle cut and adjusting accordingly.

Hi from Colorado! Thank you so much for your videos. This is super helpful and I’m defining going to do this for my planes now. I couldn’t understand what mix to add because they do act differently left to right vs right to left. Now I have a place to start and feel I can be successful with your techniques. You are the best! Thank you! 🙌

I'm way late to this but just in case you happen to see this... You don't have it on a switch but what about general flight? Example: blending rudder into turns to make flat turns maybe when going slow to avoid a tip stall.... ot seems like the mix would add positive or negative elevator? Or is it a negligible amount? Thank you in advance!
@RC-Air4 ай бұрын
So yes it’s always on for all forms of flight. The amount of correction is small and when you’re only adding a small amount of rudder it only adds enough to correct. Think gyro before gyro.
