I think that the decade of 1760’s was the painful, sorrowed and grieving period of empress Maria Theresa, she lost 3 of her six children who died very young, her two daughters in law and of course her husband. Also her first two granddaughters.

I am sorry for Maria Josepha of Bavaria the most in this scene.Joseph didn't love his royal arranged wife,it is not uncommon in the history,but what could the poor woman have done to deserve being ignored by her husband, even on her deathbed?

@@calliefinck6275I mean, he should have done his duty as her husband and given her a child, but children aren't tools that are used only for unconditional love.

The atmosphere of loss and devastation is showed correct and impressive here, the details of chronology and dates not so much important. The year 1767 was called the Ilias of the House of Austria meaning so much as downfall or doomsday. It's also true that Maria Theresia went to see and comfort the ill family members without fear and hesitation against the dangereous contagion.

Maria Theresa had a rosery that had a compartment in it where she had pieces of all her childrens hair so she could have them close to at all times.
@joshuafess42952 ай бұрын
Maybe this is speculation, but I firmly believe if Maria Joseph had a happy marriage and children would have things been much better, but I think in time Maria Teresa would’ve came to see her as a very proud member of her family and probably a daughter of her own. I think she would’ve made a wonderful empress.

Didn’t Marie Antoinette get smallpox but survive? How did she get it?
@Lily1127channel2 ай бұрын
Smallpox epidemics were very frequent back then, so it was easy to get it. Marie Antoinette caught a mild case of smallpox when she was 2. She was lucky that it was only mild, so she survived and it helped her build a resistance to the disease.

No she survived, but there’s a scene where they show her as disfigured because of the smallpox scars.

@JonathanDelgado952 ай бұрын
No, she survived. Unfortunately, they're just getting the timeline mixed up. The three deaths here are supposed to be Maria Josepha of Bavaria (Joseph's wife, who died from smallpox in 1567), Archduchess Maria Johanna Gabriela (who died from smallpox in 1762, aged 12) and Archduchess Maria Josepha (who died at the age of 16 in 1567, right after her sister-in-law). It also doesn't make sense, because Francis is supposed to be dead at this point as well if this is supposed to be 1767.
