With an auto drain, some insulation, and a solar powered exhaust fan on the side of the shed, it would be silent! Almost never have to go in there too!

The amount of tools and resources in this video is a lot. There are many hidden tools that are not throughly discussed and a DIY homeowner is going to be in for a shock if he is not aware of the resources you used.

Difficult to believe any of this when the replacement item was gifted to you. It is not an unbiased objective review.

I completely understand the point your making. Some see "gifted" (really they're bartered for) items that content creators receive as just free stuff that they don't have to earn or work for. That's not the case. The videos content creators make take considerable time and resources. That aside, the Harvey unit was also provided in exchange for content as were the multiple Rockler Dust Right units I used before the Harvey. To the point you made in a previous comment, the right DC is highly dependent on an individuals needs. The Harvey is a good unit, but not the right solution for my shop. Regardless of how tools come into my shop, bought or bartered, I'll only ever give an honest take on them. Hope that clarifies my side of things a bit. Have a good one!

I switched out a large Clearvue unit for the G700 a couple of years ago because it was more appropriate for my home shop application. Those big capacitor-start Lesson motors don't really like to be switched on and off repeatedly, but that's how I work. I found myself changing out burned up capacitors too often.That's not an issue with a G700's variable frequency drive and I can dial back the speed for long CNC operations when not as much suction is needed. Other than a few quality issues with the bin seals and gaskets, the G700 is a good fit for me as I don't do a lot of planing or other operations that would fill the bins too quickly. The main issue is that, unlike the Clearview and Oneida cyclones, the impeller is located before the dust separator. So if you suck up some small offcuts, they will strike the impeller. Fine for dust, but not a great design for floor sweeping etc.

if the screws, or bolts that hod the neck to the pocket are strong..like with furniture screws then you dont have to worry so much about the sides of the pocket. The screws that are typicaly used have very light threads as compared to furniture screws. Furniture screws are designed such that people can sit in a chair or lay on a bed every night with many pounds of weight and can withstand the stress.. imagine sitting on the neck of a guitar..how much can the basic screws withstand compared to furniture screws?

Some of the ideas are great, but there is a lot of redundancy, too much jargon, too many assumptions, not enough details. For example, showing drilling holes over and over and over, rounding edges over and over and over, while the details of the project are vague, make the instructions less valuable. Without the redundancy the video could be 3.5 minutes, not almost 7.5. The reason for no details is not be too specific-sort of understandable-but instructions maybe could use an example door with measurements. Tell the specs of your wood, as in 2x4 or whatever. Use "straight grain" rather than "quarter sawn" in describing your wood. "As clear as possible" means what? You could taper the door edges two or three degrees toward the door frame for good closing. Show hanging the door. The instructions make some huge assumptions about viewer skills and tools knowledge. I grew up in the construction business so understand the jargon and tools, but many people may say, huh? what?, so be considerate of your viewers. BTW, with pocket hole construction, the door may warp, maybe not.

does the supercell have a runtime limit? and how do you like the sound compared to the impeller unit? I've been flipping between the two for ages and can't decide, haha! I think the supercell would fit much better in my small shop, but I'm worried it's not able to run constantly all day.
@WoodshopMikeАй бұрын
I've run mine for hours on end without issue. I prefer the noise of the dust gorilla pro to the super cell, but at the end of the day I'm wearing ISOtunes and listening to music or podcasts so it's not a big deal for me. Hope that helps 👍

Why do you set the blade guide so high on the bandsaw? My husband keeps his just above the thickness of wood he is cutting
@WoodshopMikeАй бұрын
Great question. There are benefits to each approach. Having the blade set high reduces kickback because most of the cutting force is down toward the table, but the trade off is that sometimes the bottom of your board will chip. With the blade set just above the surface like your husband sets his you'll get cleaner cuts and with less of the blade exposed there's less chance of cutting yourself. Usually when I'm cutting plywood I have the blade set just above the surface of the wood but when I'm ripping thick boards I have the blade set a bit higher

Just bought the Ridgid version. Unboxed it. Seemed awesome until I put the tiniest bit of side force and the deflection was insane. Fine if you are doing framing or decks but unacceptable for trim. Also it kicked a ton on startup. Never even did a test cut (mostly bc of the deflection), boxed it up and returned it. Not worth it.
