I have the 350 hub for mtb, when the bike is on a stand & I give the pedal a spin and release the pedal, the pedal continues spinning with the wheel then, I notice a significant drop in inertia a few sec after whereas my other set of 350 dtwiss wheel set doesn't do that - after releasing the pedal, they stay put and the wheel spin noticeably longer - what could be wrong?

@@Sir-Kay could be too much grease. Also check the seal on the freehub body that sits against the hubshell

@@ridesofjapan Thanks man, I've checked to see there's not too much grease, as for the seal, I also checked but, I can't tell how well it's sitting against the hubshell other than pushing it up against it to see it clicks.

3y later :) but do you have issues with that mount getting loose every now and then? No matter how tight I screw it, it get loose again !!
@ridesofjapan14 сағат бұрын
I don't use it anymore, but eventually had to add loctite to keep them from rattling loose. It got worse when I switched over to the garmin 1040.... not the best mounting solution for sure. But we have very few options for a direct-to-stem unfortunately.

I bought some of the Xpedo titanium pedals a little while ago. I saw your review and was wondering why I didn't have the same issues when clipping in and out. I really like mine. What I hadn't thought about was the fact that I was using a pair of shoes to which I had already fitted Shimano cleats. Today I got a new pair of shoes, and fitted the Xpedo cleats. Now I know what the problems you had feels like. So my question to you is "have you tried Shimano cleats with the Xpedo pedals?" I have just ordered a pair of Shimano SH51 cleats for the new shoes.

Sugino 'Capacity Expander' works better than the roadlink. Almost as good a 12s specific derailler if it ever happens. Anyway - they cost more than a Di2 FD, so best solution would be 2x12 which in the end would be lighter unless you go for the mega-pricey 900 series M cassettes or aftermarkets...

Dear friend, I heard that you had an accident on your bike and that you had problems with your collarbone. I was in the hospital for 2 months and I am just now recovering. I want to get in touch with friends who had problems with their collarbone to exchange messages. I had 2 operations and so far my collarbone is still not okay. So I want to know from friends how they managed to cope with these injuries and what is the best way to get back on the bike.

Awesome review. Question: is it possible to route brake cables internally through the Kalloy UNO stem? I am thinking about getting a Coefficient RR handlebar and I am wondering how internal cable routing will work with this stem. Thank you.
@ridesofjapan13 күн бұрын
The stem is hollow so it’s possible as long as your fork has a d-shaped steerer tube (or any other shape that accommodates brake hoses. However this was never designed to be an internally routed stem.
@akmola113 күн бұрын
@@ridesofjapan The bike I am building is a Cervelo Soloist, from frameset up, so fork has a d-shaped steerer tube, AFAIK. I guess this confirms your answer, YES, ITS POSSIBLE?

There’s another channel showing how to make paraffin lube with an addition of PTFE powder. My bottle of Smoove now has a teaspoon of PTFE in the emulsion. I’m just a recreational rider with an affinity for mechanical things, so it makes sense to have Teflon adding another layer of lubricity. What do you think?

All your gram saving and aero watt saving work is all for not if your wheels are out of balance. You see if a wheel is out of balance by as little as 8 grams when it starts spinning it starts to oscillate which creates interrupted inertia. This interrupted inertia eats Watts like a Bowl of Cheerios. And it gets worse... As speeds get higher say 30 thru 40 mph the spinning centrifugal forces at the outer perimeter of the 700c wheel creates 6~8 Gs... Meaning you multiply the 8 grams X 6 Gs its now 48 grams! Now the 48 grams start to generate powerful oscillations which than starts to invite the entire weight of the wheel to start oscillating. Now your wheels are like sledge hammers swinging from your front & rear axles. So you need to balance and naturalize your wheels to truly enjoy all the performance benefits that you are carefully applying on your bike. Now before you call me crazy, think about this... 50% of your bike is static, while the other 50% spins at a high rate of speed... Don't you think if you balance the spinning 50% it will give you good performance??? Yes, just like your car or motorcycle, balanced wheels are a must, same with your high performance bikes. TKS Dan

These videos are phenomenal! One thing I keep thinking about is... when greasing the bolts, isn't that risking overtightening the bolts if still using the same specified torque? I think I heard/read few times that greased bolt tighthen to the same spec will actually be tighter than dry bolt. Am I crazy? Or is it not that much tighter and it's very low chance of actually causing possible failure?
