(Not a big Country fan) however, good little melody. in reality, Gun shows are absolutely NOT what they used to be. around here, it's a bunch of FFL holders that charge just as much as a real gun store, but don't want the expense of a store front. the hand you their card for their "On line store" instead and talk about how they can beat everybody's deals. CCI is definitely good ammo. I just went on a gopher shoot and got 320 of the evil little dirt puppies in one big long day, mostly with 36 grain Mini Mags but I also went through a 100 rd. box of the new 49 gr. segmented Mini Mags which were supposed to shatter on impact resulting in few to no ricochets. However while I found them to be just as accurate with better terminal effect than regular Mini Mags i also had more ricochets with them with the whining sound of said ricochets being more pronounced, indicating to me at least that while the petals separated the whole projectile stayed together. I haven't had much experience with CCI's Standard Velocity except to determine that it was accurate. I used to have an old Norinco Jw 15 which shot well with the stuff but it shot especially well with Hornady Standard Velocity- both the HP and the round nose.

Good review of the CCI standard ammunition. ... Thorsaxe gave a good account of how to obtain a tournament grade ammunition for less, from CCI. ... GunGeek has viewers as smart as he is, and just as thrifty too.

Thank you for your feedback, there are many people who choose .22 LR as their competition caliber, Mainly because of cost, some are because of the country they live in, or the sport they like such as .22 precision outdoor pistol or .22 silhouette, or .22 precision rifle, (To name a few) in any case, Just like handloading, competitors try to get the best performance for the least cost. If you are a pinkster shooting cans or whatever as entertainment, there isn't much gained from rim sorting. consistent rim thickness is about controlling recoil, therefore there is a consistent reaction ether in your shoulder or in your hand when fired, this controls flyers and you shoot tighter groups. (I'm not implying that everyone sort their ammo) however, sorting is one way to practice with consistency and that is the key to accurate shooting. That's my two cents. Thanks again - Dave
@Gungeek21 күн бұрын
only time i ever found that very high end ammo helped me was with a super heavy bench rest 22 :)

@@Gungeek CCI standard is my daily runner in my pistols, it easier on the springs of the mechanisms, that's another reason why I use it, Overall, I haven't found an advantage in using "High Velocity" or Hollow point ammo, It seems to be prevalent in the economy bulk pack promotion ammunition that's available in discount stores, however, if you have the time, even doing that job of sorting that ammo helps weed out flyers and misfires and improves accuracy, I know that most people have a .22 and that most of them just have it for recreational hunting and raising hell with pop cans and such for fun on a Saturday afternoon. anyway, great review on the CCI stuff, - Dave
@Gungeek21 күн бұрын
@@thorsaxe5881 most of my old 22s are sighted for standard ammo so it works better anyway :) , true most of the bulk HV ammo isnt really the most accurate stuff, probably better for knocking off critters but thats about it :)

Thorsaxe, is on to a good idea for buying a quality .22 ammunition, as inexpensively as possible. ... He doesn't want to 'stress' his recoil springs, and retain a consist recoil when shooting. ... He's willing to take the time to check the 'rim' thickness for consistency on the .22lr ammunition. ........ I once bought a bunch of .22lr rifle ammunition from Big Green, Remin..., for $5 a brick. ...... After about 10 shots, ALL my subsequent shots were flyers, because of excessive 'leading' a thick lead coating in the barrel. ... This was long ago, slightly after Caveman days or 45-50 years ago. [I still have about 2 bricks left.]
@thorsaxe588122 күн бұрын
Scott, here is the deal behind CCI standard velocity, CCI "Green tag" competition is first run, the rim thickness needs to be within a certain specification, CCI standard velocity is the same as "Green Tag", same bullet, same amount primer mixture, same powder charge, however, they stop sorting the rim thickness to be uniform, you can get a rim thickness gage and sort the standard into lots yourself. works just as good as the high price competition stuff. I use it for torment pistol shooting. peace out - Dave
@justacentrist414722 күн бұрын
99% of 22 shooters won't ever need or want to do that. I get why long range competition Target shooters do it (because you can't tailor your own rimfier ammo for your 22 target gun) but for hunting or plinking out to 50 meters not much point in my opinion. Interesting information though
