As a lifetime Blue Jay fan. it was a treat to see Roberto play the game, truly a great talent and the best Blue Jay ever. Sadly, he had his name removed from the honour roll at the stadium...hope it goes back up one day

Something about the Jays and Fenway - This and a game against the Angels in TO were their biggest comebacks after down 9 or 10 runs and a few years ago they blew out the Red Sox 22 to something I believe? Anyhow it was also at Fenway - The biggest blowout they ever had. I would love to play in Fenway as a player - And no lead is safe lol😮

I'm gonna go way out on a limb here. There are very few points of discussion I find less appealing than the racial politics of a given cultural space - sports or otherwise. They tend to be constituted by incoherent, vaguely justifiable shadow-ethics which are almost always accompanied by some ulterior motive, even when they appear reasonable on the surface. SO, why is it that when I watch clips like this, I think something like "Man, the game really has lost something special with the population decline of the Black baseball player?" I dunno. But I firmly believe this to be the case. I'm rarely in favor of top-down initiatives that attempt to socially engineer some callous version of justice or God-forbid, equity. But - and somewhat curiously - the idea that the one space in which I'd be most inclined to make an argument in favor of some open dialogue about racial demographics is NOT one which seems to be of much interest to advocates of such things, is...a shame. Players like Bell Moseby, White, Oliver, Barfield, Motley, Lonnie, and the rest made the game I grew up with truly special to the point where, years after I've last watched even a single sporting event - I can still pop a video like this on and deeply appreciate the gifts these guys gave us.

I was there, 3rd base line outfield, watching George Bell fall to his knees, the Yonkers has clawed back with 23 wins in 25 games and had to take both of the final games to tie, (I think) The place went ballistic, within a few minutes people started to jump onto the field then everyone dist it, we ran the bases, jumped around like kids. The city went grid lock, you couldn't get anywhere on the roads. my girl friend was up town with my buddies wife, and we couldn't gt to them for 3-4 hours, no cell phones, but they knew you didn't need a phone to know. .

More remarkable than the comeback, the grand slam, the Red Sox tying it the next inning, Junior Felix's decisive HR in extras (after his inside the park grand slam a night or two before) and the fact that I remember being 10 years old rolling around on the living room carpet watching this on a Sunday afternoon - is that the final pitch of the game was a called third strike, despite Whitt having to reach across his body with no chance to 'frame' it convincingly. Glorious.

As an outfielder i idolized White. He would make everything look easy because he made his move when the ball left the pitchers hand.

This was a pretty hard choke for a team that was better but Cubs blowing three straight in the old five game format to the Padres in the 84 NLCS that a serious hard choke ..not mention i think the Cubs vs Tigers would have a little World Series match up ...but NOBODY was beat the 84 Tigers ..period ..would have been REALLY fun to see them play at Wrigley with all that power they had ...wow

Canseco hit 3 that were longer. Plus Jose was a nice guy, and never did steroids or PEDS. Clean and honest player unlike Manny. Jose could have hit 900 plus homers, but MLB had conspired against him. If you take into account possible World Series and post season, easy to predict Jose getting over 1000 home runs in his career.
