14:19 Conversion table, not conversation 😅 👍 It's for adjusting encounter scale, as the basic DnD 5e challenge rating is more for 4-6 player games.

Ironsworn/starforged has 5 levels of success/failure don't forget success with a match and failure with a match. Also combat/actions all scales even on the fly by just changing the challenge rating which immediately changes your progression difficulty up or down. That can fix problems immediately when running games for others and find out that challenge is too strong or to weak.

Thank you for doing this interview, tbh, I think I took the plunge and bought it a few weeks back cause you made this ahaha. Now that I have it in my hand, it’s great to watch it again and get an even better understanding of this system! I can’t wait for the luminous campaign video and perhaps a way to use radiance and luminous together too.

I just picked up Scarlet Heroes this week - I had heard people talking a lot about it, for a long time... but I wasn't much of a fantasy gamer, and I had an idea that it was something different than it actually is. Now that I've looked it over, I don't think I'll be playing any other fantasy RPGs for a good long time. The mechanics are unbelievable!

I play The Fantasy Trip with my girlfriend. We like the old metagame programmed adventures also for Melee & wizard for a more simple combat experience. We really like how combat plays in this game and couldn´t find something similar yet that allows us to play combat encounters with chits or standees and tactical options. We tried D100 Dungeon, 4AD, 2hour dungeon crawl, etc... we could never find the feel of TFT. We are not that into RPGs in their more abstract aspects, maybe we are more into the boardgame side of it. the thing is we also move around in a van and boxes full of plastic are not an option. Is there Any system that allows for tactical combat like TFT (grid, hex, wtv) that anyone could recomend? Sadly TFT is too deadly for a crawl and there are no hexcrawls with encoutners and stuff for it nowadays, instead the publishers seem to go for bizarre stuff like vampire hunting maids.

This looks like just the thing I was looking for to generate ideas, but I wasn't sure. I thought the price was a bit high for a deck of cards. This video however, was brilliant and thorough in sharing the physical experience of having and using these prompts. It looks like it will be genuinely useful, thank you so much for sharing this.

On the "I Don't Know" rule; I found it was smoother to follow one of two options. Option 1: Rephrase the question. Make the asked Fate Question more(or less!) specific, and redraw. Option 2: Spin it to win it! Pick one of the two card phrases that you like or think is cool. Flip the other card & draw 1 MORE card. Combine the chosen card with one of the other two cards for your answer.

Thanks for a fun play-through. Cool to see the tactical view and all those nice exploding dice rolls. When the goblin got wounded you should have made a knock-down test. Being knocked down really sucks and would have shown that. But all in all just minor mistakes so great introduction

Having had a chance to watch the video, that was pretty good first combat. As you said at the end, there were a couple of mistakes, but nothing serious. The biggest one is allies don't *block* ranged attacks, though there is a chance of hitting your ally if they are in melee with the target (so that first round the Scout could have taken a shot past the Warrior at the goblins without issue). It was great to see so many bonus dice ("explosions"). We've introduced Earthdawn to a lot of players over the years, and the exploding dice always bring an element of excitement to things. It's like a "natural 20" on steroids. It's great when a player gets them at a clutch moment, and scary when an opponent does the same thing. We appreciate you sharing the game, and we'll share your video!

An excellent game I had the chance to play-test! Simple and flexible. I like the combat system: you always threat the opponent who has to deplete the defense. 🙂It's narrative and I love that you can develop your character the way you want. But the most interesting part is the setting Ainrêve is very original.

Similar to you, I originally bounced hard off of Scarlet Heroes due to the OSR trappings, but recently after a new soloist was recommended the system and came back happy with how it worked I decided to give it another try. And so far I've been pretty happy with it as well. I have pulled out some of my other books for assistance in certain things that Scarlet Heroes doesn't quite cover for me, but that's more of a factor of me being an experienced soloist. For someone just getting into things this is a perfect place to start, especially if, as you say, something like Ironsworn doesn't work for them. (as a side note personally I found Ironsworn okay, but Starforged was a huge improvement that I enjoyed much more) One thing I appreciate too about the game that you didn't really cover is that Scarlet Heroes being an OSR-adjacent system makes it extremely easy to adapt content from those sorts of games for use with SH and there's a nice part in the book that covers exactly how to do this. I'm excited to dig out some of the old 2e modules we didn't managed to get to when we played in High School. Also, big agree that GM experience can help with being a soloist. Being able to critique what goes well or not so well and have that critical eye towards those things and apply it to your solo experiences is so very valuable.
@solorpgguy Жыл бұрын
Glad you liked it. If you haven't checked it out yet, look at World's Without Number, by that same author. Even if you don't like the system,it is a valuable world building tool. You can get the pdf for free on Drive thru.

@@solorpgguy Thanks! I will check it out for sure!
@@solorpgguy thank you, I had managed to find it. After reading it a bit I feel like SH still fits my purposes fine because I like how traits work and in this case the added complexity of the Foci don't really enhance the experience. I can definitely see myself recommending it to others for who that would be a bigger draw though!

Both are good to run solo, just depends on what your looking for. Forbidden lands uses a dice pool, and designed as a hexcrawl. SOTDL is a d20 system, more traditional rpg, with a darker world setting.
