Wing nuts will work loose without lock washers. Not recommended! Put the Andersons cord on the Battery then take that battery charger and CUT that funky connector for the adapters off and add Andersons to attach it back on later then toss the adapters back in the bag (you just never know) and put a set of Andersons and a fuse holder on the charger makes it a lot more useful.

This is just a Major downgrade. No matter how many filter stages you have, it still doesn't turn water into pure without RO membrane. And the cost to performance ratio is not worth it considering how much the number of filters you need to replace and install in just a few months. Trust me, I have had this kind of filtration before and That's just a waste of time money and effort.

I have had a water filter for years but it doesn't do anything compared to RO let's be honest here. It can lower a few tds but not much and the water has some fishy taste once the filter becomes dirty in just 3-4 months. And the cleaning is so painful. So I'm planning to go to RO and all i need to do is to buy a membrane and some fittings and I'm good to go 😊

two of the same filters in a row seems pointless to me unless running in parallel. You could've just went with four housings, or go a size up on the first sediment filter if you insist on having five.

Hey man I have told 2 friends to follow your video when they mentioned they wanted to do a filter system over the past 2 years. FYI - I put a 2x4 under the canisters to sit on the cabinet floor to support the weight. Then just slide the 2x4 out and then you can unscrew the canisters downward to change the filters. It even leaves room under it to put a towel down. I have one of those silicone rubber under sink mats that has a lip all the way around just encase I spill when changing filters - any water would just sit in the pan. The 2x4 sits on top of the rubber I did a 6 filter system (two 3 packs) and have lived off it for 2 plus years only changing the first 2 sediment filters every 6 months and the 3rd and 1st charcoal once a year. Works perfect and I feel sorry for people wasting money on system kits. I don't have chlorine or I would change the charcoals more often

Perhaps don't touch any inside parts of the housing or the filters with your hands without using sterile gloves to prevent bacteria from growing inside your filters and into your water. Although chlorine in city water should kill most such.

love your video, I was considering a Clear source Ultra filter system , but now I see I need to learn some things about what filters do what ...and grades and what filters are used for. so on the cheap I like the do it your self because you get to see and learn what is going on. and then in the long run I bet you can save on the filters. So I will be learning and will look into your information and if possible try to buy through your sight so it helps to support you. I have a Berkey filter, and found I dident trust it. and to tell you the short of it... there was a few people who tested it and found its not what it say's ... so its time I build a quality system. so thanks for your time and trouble. also I would be adding a UV system that also kills any things that might get through...

Anyone knows the faucet he’s using? The link doesn’t work anymore. I have a beverage faucet that is leaking and don’t want to buy one and have the plumber install it only to find out it’s leaking 😭 I’m afraid of getting one from Amazon, so many reviews with leak issues. And the expensive ones are $200+

You should put all the mechanical filtering on the water supply BEFORE it enters the house water pipes. USE the 'polishing steps at the point of drinking water only.(incld. ice machine etc.) ( and only RO or salt softening can reduce the hardness to soft.) (ion can but absurdly expensive with small flow and not logical)

What are your thought on filters like Multipure; Aqualuxe specifically? Cause that one is 99.999% more or less one sig fig off depending on virus, bacteria, cyst...but still retaining the minerals in the water. I'm just going by what the World Health Organization(WHO) said on drinking RO water

Hot glue does not do well around water ....it will come apart. RTV glue or E6000 will work best. Or food grade safe silicone glue.

Appreciate the video! It's all relatively simple, but as I'm deciding what to do for my setup, it's always nice to just see someone else going through the steps, and making sure I have all the components and don't make an obvious mistake assembling it all. I'm always in apartments and the state requires dishwasher air-gaps, so I bought a dual air-gap to swap out and I'm going to frankenstein a really mini faucet on top of the cover, using the second inlet to run the water line and seal it. With all the commercial, ready-made (and massively overpriced) under-sink filter systems, I assumed some company would have already thought of an air-gap/faucet combo for this situation...silly me! Given the quality of my local water, I'll probably stick to three....maayyyybe four stages, but it will beat the absolute hell out of the stupid water pitchers I've used in the past, both in filtration and frustration! I'm hoping to get all filters either washable or have some sort of contaminant growth prevention in them, so I don't have to switch them out before their actual filtration capacity is reached. With just being drinking water, and only for myself, it would feel stupid to waste them because of time in use vs. how much they've actually filtered. Annnnyway, thanks again!

Could a system like this be used to filter and reuse grey water in an RV? For example for a continuous shower setup? Or is filtering shampoo and other soaps an issue?

I am just making my own system. I am using 5 Pentek 10" slim housings. My house has crazy high water pressure (95 psi), and I really need to slow it down. I will have two sediment filters for slowing it down. My second filter will be a .01 micron filter from a Waterdrop as I really want to drop my pressure. I do not know the filter model, but it is for TST-UF system. I also had remove the top gasket for that filter to fit my system, but it fits. I am using bone char filters, and a carbon block with KDF at the end. Ya, my filters will be more expensive, but it should work. My Pentek canisters were about $25 a piece. I did have a hard time finding the right fittings, but I did. My housings are bolted together. Thanks for the video.

Watch which solar charge controller you get I have a Colman 30 amp that even when set to deep cycle won't charge them up fully it actually has better voltage when set to automobile battery it'll charge to 13.8 which although not high enough for deep cycle sealed lead acid batteries is still better than the under 13 volts it charges in deep cycle setting

Question: In the video, the "John Guest" valve was turned to the left for sink water, then for drinking water you turned it toward you to the red water line. Can you turn the valve to the right to allow both drinking water and sink water at the same time? or do you have to turn the valve everytime you want drinking water? Loved your video. Thanks for sharing. Peace, Mo

What if you charge it off the alternator while driving and just get a 3 year replacement lead acid battery. Would that be wise? If the battery dies you can just replace it for 3 years.

How long can one keep this marine battery backup system going with being charged ongoing and then switch to solar panel if power goes out? Can this go for a few years on auto charge with a deep cycle marine battery? Or will the battery typically lose retention power in a year? I would want to just plug this in with the charge regulator and forget about it till the / if the power goes out. Is that going to work? Or should one just spend the $400+ on the Goal Zero or Jackery solar set up for 12V ? Also - where is the vid on adding a solar panel to this scenario? THANK YOU SOOOOOOOO MUCH !!!!! So helpful and money saving too!!!!
@kimmer6
@kimmer6 2 жыл бұрын
You can make a deep cycle battery last for years by having it floated and maintained by a smart charger such as a Guest Marine Charger. Set it then forget it. You need a decent charge controller to use solar panels. I switched to LiFeP04 lithium batteries for my projects 3 years ago. They are expensive but they are much lighter and pack much more power than lead acid chemistry. The commercial ''solar generators'' are getting better and more reasonably priced. Compare everything by Watt Hours as it is the power common denominator.
