I just became a nurse and I'm rotating shifts. I just trained for 2 wks on nights before the end of my orientation. What is your sleep schedule in order to get things done the days you work?

I thought I loved night shift while I was doing it (6 years) but now that I've been days for a decade now I see how it isn't normal lol plus the time I missed with my kids and hubby, I could never do nights again

ED Night Shift here. I've worked days, mids and now nights. ED is stressful in and of itself. Adding all the meeting blah blah blah people on top of it I would leave feeling overwhelmed. Night shift has it's challenges but the vybe. I work nights in a jail also and it's just a vybe. I feel like I can focus I can take care of my patients in peace.

This video was really helpful. I have a degree in another field and thinking about going back to school for nursing. I feel nervous about the idea of being back in school later in life but this is encouraging.

We would love to invite you on our show to participate in our 73 Questions Series during Med-Surg week! I co-host The Melanin Initiative Podcast, a health literacy podcast where we aim to 1) breakdown medical jargon into language people can understand, create a safe space for them to ask their questions, and educate them on how to navigate the healthcare system. 2) We also have a professional aim where we promote the different professions in healthcare and elevate the voice of nurses. We invite you and your audience interested in healthcare to view our content on KZbin, LinkedIn, every social media platform, and all your favorite podcast apps. We welcome questions and suggestions.

I HATE day shift. You have to figure out how to be at like 9 places simultaneously, the med passes are more complex, there’s more provider rounding, diagnostic procedures going on..the list continues and YOU MAKE LESS MONEY. Nights is definitely where it’s at for me

I absolutely love the calmness of night shift. I work days because my body couldn’t get use to it. But I only do weekends day shit during the week is an absolute no!!!!😅 If I ever had to go back full time I would suck up nights because day shift is just way to much

Pro tip: don't read the textbooks or even buy them it's a waste of money. I spent thousands of dollars on books and never opened one of them in my 4 years of school. Print slides x4 per page take notes on slides. The professors pull what is most important from the book and put it on slides and that is what they lecture from and what they test you on. You're welcome. PS graduated 4.0 summa cum laude doing it just like that. You can also use an iPad but I had to have a physical copy of the slides in my hands for my brain to process
@thenursecollective28 күн бұрын
Wow! I totally agree. We never touched the textbooks in nursing school
