Great range!!! With two directive antennas (patch+helical) on the VRX and an Albatros long on the VTX I can barely get to 2.7km with a lot of interference :( even with 1.6w of power.. do you have any advice for me?
@GiantAntCowboy
@GiantAntCowboy 14 күн бұрын
@@DroneVisionIT well, you must have clear line of sight (LOS); meaning nothing (trees, building, power lines) between you and the drone. If you have clear LOS, try different channels, generally VTXs output the most power on lower channels like “R1” and the least power on higher channels like “R8”. So I always use “R1”. Antennas are sensitive, if you’ve ever crashed the quad the Albatross might not work as well as it should, and if you’re using a UFL to SMA Pigtail connector those fail often. Try replacing both. @@Braincho somewhere between 52-56mm is ideal, I’ve gone larger as well with good results. Largest diameter creates bigger side lobes in the signal radiation pattern. For wire I always use solid copper “Romex Type NM-B Copper Building Wire”, it’s available at most hardware stores and 1m contains 3 or 4 wires enough for several antenna builds. Yea, “take it with a grain of salt”. There were some variables that may have affected the results. All the antennas I used were Linear or LHCP, but since the X2-Airs are RHCP I had to use a different set of Helicals & Omni antennas which were connected using UFL-SMA connectors. So these variables could have created performance issues, however as mentioned i did have similar glitches in my original HDZero tests years ago. Did I miss the control setup? The one with stock DJI v2 antennas on the goggles all the way around and the stock o3 antenna on the drone... Thats how I do ALL my LR now and I don't need to worry about turning my head to aim for signal. With MIMO we can have gain through beamforming, and when we swap to antennas that don't take advantage of that we have to rely on the antenna gain by itself (no MIMO gain!). When using stock v2 antenna, the best drone antenna I found is the long FlyfishRC o3 antenna.... Also, food for thought: I was just flying tandem with a buddy with patches and true rc stubbies on the goggles and long truerc sma antennas on the o3 in the drone and when he had signal issues a few km out I had perfect video. he lost video and had to ascend, while I was just following him up wondering whats wrong 😂
@GiantAntCowboy
@GiantAntCowboy 24 күн бұрын
You’re basically saying that using Linear antennas allows the system to use multipathing, or bouncing signals to strengthen the signal. While using CP antennas eliminates the ability to use these bouncing signals? I would think this would be more useful in a parking garage or bando situation than in long-range where higher gain directional antennas should perform better. (Though theoretically directional linear antenna would be best). In my tests my high-gain CP antenna setups seemed to perform better. Regarding your buddy’s setup, I wonder if he wasn’t aiming his patches well, or if there was just a general issue with his setup. Eitherway great info, appreciate you watching and sharing feedback! I continue testing and recording results, but let me know you thoughts.
@BrandonBeans
@BrandonBeans 24 күн бұрын
@@GiantAntCowboy multi path interference is not a problem with DJI digital transmission, the packets are serialized and it knows time of flight for the packets over the air, so there's no concern of displaying the slightly older and out of phase reflections. Antennas as the engineers designed allows the o3 to use creative phase offsets in the transmission and reception of signal and this forms constructive interference to boost this signal. Aiming antennas really can be a thing of the past!

@@Happyants_ ok, both work great, HDZ goggles are great and a WalkSnail VRX works well on them. Here’s my goggle antenna setup/testing - kzbin.info/www/bejne/eYrTmYlre7WVj8U I run helicals because they are cheap DIY & work great, (you don’t actually need four…) Crosshair antennas also work well and are smaller.

@@GiantAntCowboy oh I saw that vid it was so funny the antennas look straight out of the future but I don’t have the tools to build something like that

Do you happen to know if they make helical coil antennas for DJJI (Goggles 2)? I have 2 pair of goggles. FS/Walksnail, Goggles 2. So far, i'm pretty impressed with both. I get some video jitters on the goggles 2. One of my local pilots suggested it could be the way I have the recording set up. Would that cause video jitter/stutter? It's like it's missing frames. 1/2 to Almost 1 full second gap between frames. It's weird.

Helical antennas work great on DJI, I did a bunch of tests recently, here’s a Draft version of my new video - DJI FPV Long Range Penetration Antenna Tests for Improved Signal kzbin.info/www/bejne/j5vYea2qbK9mjKc (haven’t finished it yet, so any feedback is welcome). Regarding the delay it could be an antenna or signal issue… towards the end of this video I talked show examples of stuttering I was getting with some of my antenna setups, even with decent MBPS. Let me know what you think. Cheers!

Just had this issue on my 06 ninja 650r after sitting for a month of no use. Some wd-40 and a flathead loosened it right up. Just make sure to lubricate the mechanism in the cap and your good to go!

Great to hear! Surprisingly common issue with newer motorcycles. Never had this issue with my older motorcycles.
