I am having a similar issue with mine. The design itself is good,I do like the built-in spin cycle,and the built in drain hose as well. However, that is where I have the biggest issue is with the drain hose. I just received it a few days ago and have been able to get a few loads of laundry done since I do not have hookups at my apartment(the older 70's style). I have a 5-gallon bucket that I use for allowing excess water from the machine to flow into while it on the selected cycle that I am using,which right now is just the quick wash. To make a long story short,water does not stop filling up into this bucket,and so I have to use an extra kitchen pot and mixing dish,if you can believe it,to fill in those but water gets all over the floor still. Luckily I have some extra towels for just in case that happens. I got so mad last night trying to keep water from flowing onto the floor that I am almost tempted to just send it back. My Black and Decker did not have this issue and costed much less. I would love to be able to attack the hose to the sink but I am worried that it might fall off as the maker of this video suggests has happened with hers. I am certainly open to suggestions,because I am this close to just sending it back because of this drain hose emptying way too quickly and it doesn't seem to stop regardless of what I try to do. Mine was purchased from Walmart. The machine itself works fine if not or this drain hose issue that it sounds like many are experiencing.
@MsLightbar Жыл бұрын
If the hose is not above the highest water level in the machine it will freely drain out at anytime. If it is more then a few inches higher then the water level in the machine and water is flowing out then the pump might be spinning for some reason. If that is the case then there would be an issue with the machine. Try holding the hose up in the air above the machine. If water comes out while the machine is agitating then something is faulty with the machine. If not, then the hose likely needs to be higher. Full, mine holds about 6 gallons of water. Draining into a sink, tub or toilet is fine but the highest point of the drain hose must be at least a few inches above the high water level of the machine. If the sink can not drain fast enough, you might need to pause the wash cycle to let it drain. Finding a way to secure the hose is advised. I have not had any issue at all using a hair tie to hold it as shown in the video. Hope that helps .
@dmprdctns2 ай бұрын
Thanks... Liked. Mine is a "Farberware" but basically operates same. In mine, During the spin cycle, at first, the "agitator" at the bottom spins much faster than the tub, causing the clothes to knot up on one side, unbalancing the load, and cancelling the spin cycle, usually... Does your agitator spin much more quickly at first in the spin cycle? I hadn't noticed this until more recently so maybe something is amiss? Thanks again...
@MsLightbar2 ай бұрын
Thank you, appreciate that. Shortly before this goes to spin the agitator does short bursts in both directions to settle the cloths. The agitator then locks to the drum for the spin cycle to keep them synched. Not sure if yours is malfunctioning or ment to do that. It might just be how it makes the drum spin. Bummer it knots/bunches up the cloths when it does that though

Hello i got the black decker washer that looks just like this about 6 wks ago. Ive used it maybe 6 times. My goal was to connect it to the shower. I have no idea what and where to buy the correct adapter. My bathroom faucet is old and it leaks with the quick connector provided. How do i connect to shower head? So for now, Im draining into the bathtub but all the water drained out. Got an E1. I was puzzled. Found this YT and Well, you answered that question. Will the water overflow the sink if i drain it in there? Or What is a better way raise the drain hose to use the bathtub. Thanks in advance.
@MsLightbar10 ай бұрын
The adapter should be able to be found at Lowes or similar store. It's a standard washer hose connection on one side with a standard shower head connection on the other. Both ends are threaded on the outside so the shower hose screws on to one end and washer hose on the other. I use a bungee cord to hang the drain hose over the tub. Just gotta be careful if you do that so the water does not splash out of the tub when its draining. Most sinks will not be able to keep up with how fast the water comes out so the tub or kitchen sink are ideal. Let me know if you have any other questions or need any clarification.

For a little while i could get it going by lifting the machine up for a second but that doesn't work anylonger.
@MsLightbar Жыл бұрын
Thanks! I think you are having one of 2 issues. First could be low water pressure. You need enough water pressure to be able to push open the valve when it is triggered. The 2nd is that the valve is not opening when it needs to. This could be because it is not properly getting the signal, wearing out or had hard water/debris build up on it making it stick closed. If it were mine I would put some cleaner in the inlet (like vinegar or CLR) and let it soak. I would look into the harshness of the chemical first as it could damage rubber seals.

It shouldn't start spinning until after the water has drained. Mine goes off balance if cloths get tangled together during washing. If it is off by much I will manually readjust them. This is typically only an issue with heavier cloths/towels. You could try putting it on spin while empty. It probably won't run perfectly smooth but definitely should not be off balance.

But if I select water level 3, the complete wash cycle jumps up to a total of 81 minutes! I had the same issue with the Black and Decker 0.9 washing machine as well. I returned it because I thought this excessive wash time was a defect in the product. However, this RCA model is showing almost the exact same amount of time. Is this wash “time” normal or did I get another lemon? Thank you for any help or suggestions😅
@MsLightbar Жыл бұрын
My guess is that it would be related to different software versions but mine does not do that. Have you run a cycle to confirm the time? Different water pressures can effect how long it takes to fill up. When I turn mine on it is set to heavy. Thst is what I use mostly because I can adjust the wash time, number of rinse cycles and spin time. That adjusts the total time. Yours seems long but I wiuld try adjusting the settings and/or run it to confirm the time. It may just be compensating for unknown variables like how long the tub takes to fill.

Definitely not a queen-sized blanket. It can handle queen-sized sheets though. You just have to wash them separately. As in, top sheet by itself and then the fitted sheet by itself, and then the pillowcases by themselves. The largest thing I have washed in mine is a large moderately-fluffy towel. Not a beach towel, but a large bath towel. That is pretty close to max capacity for these machines. I wouldn’t do it all the time, but once in awhile is okay. The instructions on my HomeLabs washer state that you should not fill the washer with clothing any more than 75%. There should be about 25% room left in the drum, and that is considered max capacity.

All of these portable washers in the variety of sizes marketed by several brands or actually manufactured in China by Medea Corp. Thus, the only difference between the different brands is the brand badging placed on the machine by Medea, but everything else is exactly the same. Hence, when deciding on which brand to get, it really doesn't matter as all the portable washers and dryers marketed by the various brands are all identical. Therefore, which ever brand happens to be the cheapest price wise at the time of your purchase is the brand that consumers should purchase. At the time I bought my portable washer and dryer, that happened to be Magic Chef, but since then I've noticed various brands at different times becoming the price leader.

I suspect this is true but I did not dig into it so I didnt want to state it as fact. One way they differ is warranty. The difference in the end would likely be quality control, which would be important, since half of all stuff that comes out of China is broken on arrival, missing parts, not oiled properly, etc. You're basically paying more to ensure you got a good one, and for the company return/warranty support. And that also helps to cut down on the bad shipments received, because a big name brand like Black and Decker would not keep doing business with them if they started losing business and having to deal with tons of returns, while most of the rest of the companies would simply ignore you because they don't care.

It is a balance ring that helps balance the machine when spinning fast. It's hollow inside and partly filled with water. That water spreads into pockets within the ringwhen it spins to help balance it. You are likely hearing that water move around inside the ring if you tip or shake the machine.

I'm not sure why there is water leaking all the sudden.
@MsLightbar Жыл бұрын
It's common for a little water to be on the floor from condensation or light splashing making it over the rim. If we are talking about the same hose, that is the water level sensing hose, it should not leak. I believe they have a pinch clamp at the bottom. If it is leaking from there then you can try readjusting it. Otherwise if it is along the hose it might be cracked. Otherwise the outer tub wall has an overflow drain molded into it.

@@ceeceemccoy1933 ah, ok. Yes it's the sitting water in the hose and yucky stuff is taking advantage of that. I drain the hose when I am done with the laundry and leave the lid open for a day to let excess water evaporate. Since the water will drain out with gravity, get the entire hose floor level or lower and the excess water will drain out. This should stop anything from growing more in the hose. I know the cleaners I would use to clean the washer and drain hose if it developed an odor as wash machined sometimes do. I dont want to recommend anything specifically because the wrong concentrations could damage seals or be hazardous to breathe. It would probably be good to look up cleaners and methods for washing machines if they get extra dirty. What ever is growing in your hose might go away if it is dried out. Otherwise you would need to let cleaner sit in the hose and bottom of the machine to kill off what is causing the odor.

She originally bought it to do linens in at the bar she manages, but never ended up bothering to hook everything up. So I got both the washer & dryer for about $300. I could not pass it up. To answer your question, I was surprised how much the 0.9cu model held, and am very happy with it. I have never wished I went bigger either. I love mine! I will say though, the portable dryer is *huge* LOL. That thing can easily hold double the capacity as the washer! I have had my washer & dryer since summer of 2021, and use it daily. I use liquid Tide with Oxy. Pods were too strong/too much detergent for my washer. I only fill the Tide cup about half way to the 1 on the measuring cup lid. Most of my loads are cool-water washes, and I too use a mesh drain insert in my sink to catch the lint, and it works amazingly well. I’ve had no issues as of yet 🤞

@@sherryjeffers3590 I believe that is the lid open during wash error but I would need to check for sure later. If your lid is fully closed and not broken then it is likely some type of sensor failure.

Normal and rapid modes wont let me adjust wash, rinse or spin minutes
@MsLightbar2 жыл бұрын
In checking, mine does the same. I almost always use Heavy. I suspect Normal and Rapid are just quick settings. I don't believe the agitator operates any different in the Normal vs Heavy mode (but I would need to check next time I run it to be sure). Heavy has a preset extra rinse but every section can be adjusted in Heavy mode. Give Heavy a shot and adjust the settings as needed to see how you like it as it appears to be normal not to be able to adjust those 2 modes.

@@MsLightbar thank you! I called magic chef today and sent them a video and they think the washer is defective and I think those two functions aren’t n adjustable. If you plug in the machine you can select normal or rapid and check if you can adjust wash time and rinse without staring a wash. I really appreciate your help!

@@martincuri6295 You are welcome. Let me know if you have any other questions. Magic Chef did seem to have the best warranty of the several I looked into. It does seem a bit odd that those can not be adjusted so I presume they are just designed as quick settings. I do like to adjust the settings based on the load I am washing and have never used Rapid or Normal before. Hopefully someone else who sees this can confirm the same with their machine.

@MsLightbar7 ай бұрын
Do you have this installed under a sink? What built up pressure to leak?
@EdwardVonKrow7 ай бұрын
@@MsLightbar I hooked it up to my bathroom faucet. Above the sink. Turned the cold water on. Everything went fine at first, until it went into the spin cycle. Water flower under the sink, from inside the faucet. It was like the valve in the machine did not open or close, and just built up pressure, and there was a ton of water still left in the machine. I have normal water pressure to the sink. Everything was hooked up correct as per the instructions.

@@MsLightbar I’m going to try and hook it up to kitchen sink, with some alternative adapters, if the issue is the same, I will be returning. It is brand new.
@MsLightbar7 ай бұрын
@@EdwardVonKrow It works just like a full size wash machine. After hooking it up to a sink/faucet you turn the water on. The washer will fill when it needs or prevent water from flowing in when it is not needed. If the adapter on the sink is cross threaded or not tight enough, it will leak. It sounds more like an issue with the sink or connection or faucet then the washer as that does not create any pressure.

No matter what brand you're buying these machines are all the same they all have the same transmission and the same motor all made in China yes the buttons and design might be different but trust me just go for the cheaper one it's all the same underneath
@MsLightbar Жыл бұрын
The manufacturers have different warranty so cheapest might not be best (or cheapest overall). 3rd party warranties can help but those have limitations too (possibilities are deductibles, when the warranty starts and how the repair is handled). The "cheapest" one likely won't be the cheapest if you need the warranty and they want you to mail the whole thing to them for repair.

@@abdelkaderelbachir3817 That sounds awesome, unfortunately that's not the way it is in the USA. When I was buying one I found warranties as short as 90 days and as long as 1 year. To make it even more complicated, mine had 1 year warranty on parts but only 90 days on labor. Thanks for the replies, hope the video helped ya out in some way too. Did you buy one of these or just looking around? My washer is still going strong several years later and been happy with it.

@@MsLightbar yes I do have a big one made by LG that I've got in 2017 still going very strong these types of machines are very popular here in north Africa because they are cheap and reliable they came in all sizes varying from very small to very large in many households you can find these as their main washer and many people preferred them over front loaders because they require less maintenance as you know front holders can become very smelly if you don't take good care of them

Could be a few different things. When it stops, can you just restart it or turn it off then back on to get it to run again?
