Ohyeahluis I went to MEPS for the first time in March. I highly suggest waiting it out if there is a specific job you want. I wanted aerospace medical services...which I was told at first was Almost impossible to get without a COI . I still decided to wait because for me it was that job or nothing. I ended up receiving the job last month and now leave October 6th. If you want to leave earlier I suggest choosing to quick ship. You choose the job you want to be quick shipped for and they will fill you in that spot if someone for example got hurt or didn’t pass some requirement and you take there place. But you have to be ready to leave every single week with your stuff packed. I hope that helps :)

I signed up in Apr and got to basic on 1 Jul 75.....don’t let the TIs learn your name....they will stay on you like a tick....confident course towards the end was a piece of cake. When we ran it was in combat gear so I would suggest you run everyday till you get on the plane to San Antonio. My youngest Son went to basic in Aug 2011 and is In Afghanistan as we speak. I was honor grad in flight 0729 way back when and did 27 years. You will be in the new dorms which don’t mean crap really but they are nice to look at. Stick with your plans because the real AF is nothing compared to basic or tech school. My Son is a forward air controller and loves it. I would try real hard to get a loadmaster job.....you will see all the world in the big transport planes like the C-17 or the Air Traffic Controller job which means a job will be waiting when you decide to get out. If you have any other questions I will answer them for you. Good luck.

We didn't have cell phones. Typhoid shot hurt. Making a bed is easy. A skill rarely needed. Shit has changed since I was in. The song I know.. Airmens creed? What is that? It is psychology how you are treated. Evaluation. The USAF Is the smart force. I knew how it was. Before I went in. I got the honor graduate medal. You outsmart them by being correct.At all times. I got dinged once for not saying, "lady entering the dorm". But I passed every test, even shooting(without bcg's) missing only 3 shots. Without glasses. But I only had to see a black dot. All I need. At long range. Using a rifle, I never used. I rarely miss. I have broke a q-tip, with a bb pistol, at 25 feet. Try that. 😁 The USAF is is made up up, of mostly the best. As all armed services. My dad was USA, my uncle a marine in Vietnam wounded twice. My grandfathers served in Europe and Pacific. None of us died in war. My grandfather in the Pacific racked up the most kills. He had a Thompson. Fine weapon. Only a few us disabled. I call that a win for us.

I wasn’t a big fan of bed drills either, nobody really is. They just make us do it to teach discipline and good habits I guess.

Hey I’m 18 and this is my last year of highschool I’m planning on going into the airforce once I graduate can you give me any advice or tips that I can do to prepare
@AirmanNick4 жыл бұрын
If you are really planning on enlisting into the Air Force start studying for the asvab and get a recruiter, don’t take any job they throw at you. Think long and hard about the job/career you want and go for it, don’t let them influence you to take something you don’t want. Once you have that all figured out start working out and preparing!

Did you have all your TIs employing the most vulgar, most demeaning, most comical & most correctional PROFANITY you've ever heard? They can't hit you, but our TIs were F'this, that & the other! They picked on Airmen who were tall, short & in between. The insulted inability of initial trainees & used the profanity as if it were in their TI book. I didn't mind it, but it scared us to death by not knowing if they could lawfully do the threats they repeated, so it was the detainee treats that were loudest & fear of the unknown. There wasn't any racial slurs, we were all equally worthless. I enjoyed when TIs went off on 1 or 2 trainees & used such "comically" vulgar demented threat/jokes, we had to fight back the need to bust out laughing, it's like having sex quick with your significant other & being prevented from finishing ur required earth shattering release. They are the most accurate ways I can professionally describe it. It was when 3701 BMTS was converting to the 321st Training Squadrons. I know much of that has since been banned (since SEP 1992, when we wore BDUs), but its an integral part of "the military" for Christ's sake, its not a club fed cake walk, it was psychological warefare!

First of all... pt isn’t 1 hour long 😂it’s roughly 45 mins which includes the warm up and cool down. You don’t wake up at 0445 it’s 0545. Dorm set up info is in the bmtdg not the bmtsg. Time to write letters is based on how fast you get everything else done, if your slow you could get zero time if your fast you could get 30 minutes. But hey great video for people about to come in, way to be a wingman for the future airman!
@AirmanNick4 жыл бұрын
We were the first flight during covid 19 our wake up time was 0445. Every morning not 0545 like the normal old bmt. Time to write letters was given based on our MTI’s some times it was days with no time some times we got 10 minutes to write letters. If you got caught you got in trouble and more than likely lost out. But thanks man!
@yellowfever10154 жыл бұрын
@@AirmanNick Well I guess things have been updated since you went through. Wake up time is 0545 unless you have an early wake up time then it could be 0500 .. that’s pretty rare. COVID has got BMT changing with every flight so this could change tomorrow. Another thing that has changed is they no longer do tent city... if your flight has to be quarantined they go to a designated quarantined gateway inn ... lots of new stuff
@AirmanNick4 жыл бұрын
@@yellowfever1015 yes I’m aware we were the only flight to do tent city. But we forsure woke up at 0445 and went to sleep at 0800 everyday instead of 0900
