Thanks for doing this. It gave me a better perspective on locating some of the solenoids outside the case. These transmissions look very complex, and you zip through them like butter. Nice work.

Ben, don't know if important but I saw a piece fall off the transmission at time 11:57 and fall behind the bench. I have an 03 acura Cl with 110k miles that I'm prepping to remove and rebuild. Your vids let me know what to expect.

Think you I did not see that at the time I was making video it was actually a dowel pin that goes on the engine during the removal process I noticed the dowel pins was missing on the engine I have no clue how it got on top of the transmission but one thing everyone should know on any make and model vehicle not just Honda the dowel pins post to be there to keep transmission centered

I just purchased an 03 Accord V6 when you start the car it shifts through all gears and drives fine then when it gets warm it’s like the trans goes into a fail safe and all gears act like a neutral going to change filter and fluid first but was hoping for a little more info maybe it’s a solenoid or sensor

good video. what causes the right side drive axle to have a lot of play at the trans if the bearings dont go bad on the accord?
@longsleevethong1457 Жыл бұрын
One or several of the following…bad engine mounts. Bad transmission mounts. Bad upper or lower control arm bushings. Bad ball joints. Pretty much anything that throws off the alignment of the axle shaft from the transmission to the hub…hope that makes sense

Is this the same transmission that was used on the 4 cylinder Accord. Our original owner 2004 Accord just hit 390,000 and I'd like to replace the trans filter(s) and do a fluid change.
@bensautorepair991411 ай бұрын
This is actually the V6 transmission The 4cy is probably the BCLA or the MCLA it's set up different and really a pain to rebuild if you don't have the proper tools.. Either or you got to disassemble the entire unit to change filter.. With 390k your best bet is find a low mileage one to put in it

@@bensautorepair9914 Thanks Ben, most likely I'll "flush" the tranny and then do another fluid and filter change. For kicks we want tor run it to 400,000+ miles and then trade it in. Currently it revvs a bit when cold and then shifts from 1-2. with a bump. Otherwise it's doing well. I have replaced all solenoids and done trans oil changes at 75-90,000 miles increments. What's the most likely reason we're getting a delayed 1-2 shift and revving when cold ? Thanks again from Coca Beach, Florida area .

Thanks for making the video. If you don’t mind I would like to pick your brain with a few questions. What made you decide on making it a core and not rebuilding? Was it because of it not being the right trans for the vehicle or something else? Is the baya worth rebuilding? I have wanted to rebuild my transmission because I love my car and also I have always wanted the challenge of rebuilding a trans. But I don’t want to take it in the ass either. My gf thinks I’m making a bad decision. I would appreciate your feedback on that. I want a solid trans do you recommend any specific upgrades. Thank you!

Hey I have an 03 accord v6 and was wandering if you would know what would cause it to periodically lock up for a brief second while driving(like it’s trying to be in two gears at once) then eventually did start slipping. When I took it out I remove the filter and find that the filter had fallen apart and the pieces where logged in the banjo bolt for the filter. Have you ever seen pieces of the filter make there way to the valve body? Sorry for all the questions but I am an experienced tech but not really rebuilt any transmissions yet and it looks like you know what your doing.

I've seen some crazy things over the years but yes I've seen them completely disintegrated usually when they do that it blocks the cooler line making 100% overheating very fast... If it feels like going in two gears at once it was starving for fluid because of the blockage usually if it gets to that point it's too late..

question what kind of puller did you use to remove the gear at 29:20
@bensautorepair991410 ай бұрын
Just a regular harmonic balancer puller And I added long bolts 10mm head to screw in the gears it's pretty easy
