Hurricane Sally wreaked havoc on Gulf Shores, Alabama in the evening just before landfall. Significant storm surge, very high wind, and extreme inland flooding caused many areas to see impacts. Arcing power lines heralded widespread power outages, numerous trees were felled (some onto homes and vehicles) , and dozens of roads became impassable in high, swift moving water.
