1:1000 Enterprise (Discovery) Light Kit Unboxing

This is our unboxing of the light kit for the new 1:1000 scale USS Enterprise.
We take a look at the parts, the LEDs and the instructions, we also put together the motor and lights for the nacelles.

The kit is really cool, especially for anyone who doesn't want to bother with electronics and soldering. It's nice enough for many fans, probably. But I guess the enthusiasts will still build their own lighting, just because they will want to have navs and strobes on the ship as well. I'm just interested whether one can get these silent motors somehow, since they seem to be the killer feature of that kit.

The little clear plastic piece that spins would look better with a couple extra coats of black paint on the lines and maybe a few more lines. the existing lines are barely blocking any light

Great review. I had heard the thickness of the wires presented problems with the actual build and tucking in of the wires in the model. Did you find this to be a problem?

Will there be light kits for other Enterprise ships as well? like TOS, Refit, B?

Are the LEDs visible through the clear plastic? Just curious if you would need to add some fiber fill or cotton batting to diffuse them.

i wish on the battery compartment that instead of just on/off it would have a timer opt. that it will come on and run for xtime and cutoff and then come back on the next day at same time

I don't understand how the tube interacts and engaged the motor. There seems to be no notches or such in the tube to fit with the motor and when I put mine together, it just sort of seems to rub against the protruding shaft part of the motor and just mainly slips rather than catches and spins. Thoughts!

Nice video - are you able to measure the diameter of the 4 led pcb? Is it about 7/8ths of an inch like we thought? That seems to be the critical bit. Are there flashing nav lights for the saucer, or any other effects?

Doesn't seem like it. Only the bussards. It's a nice start, though, but the perfectionist in me will implement these as well.

I'm starting to build the revell uss voyager what kind of LED lights would I need to light the impulse engines and formation lights and blue grille necelles and inside the saucer section

Heya! This a Great Little Presentation in Regards to this Kits Lightning! If Anything that you’ve Proved is that this LED and Motor System is Something that Can Be Built into the Model from Scratch? This is what I am Doing as I Have the Materials to Do So! The Next Step is Brining all those Lighting and Motor Elements Together into Something that will Present Nicely! I’m really Enjoying your Posts! I’ve Got to Get Back on the Horse and do Mine?! I think the reason why I’m so Determined to Build my own Lighting and Motor System is Because the Polar Lights Kit is Way Too Expensive! They’re Very Clever in Identifying a Hole in their Kits Sales that they can Capitalise On in Terms of First Presenting Decal Sets and then Diversifying into a Comprehensive Lighting Display. It’s not a New Concept by any means or Stretch of the Imagination, it’s just that their Predecessors Like Ertl MPC and Airfix Did it Badly! Also Technology has moved on a Pace! Thanks For the Show! I love Polar Lights and I love this model but 100 plus dollars for a couple of geared motors and cheap led's with fat wiring is ridiculous

Just make a ball of hot glue and drop it in the bits box, now you have the Nu Klingon ships.

Is Round2 your sponsor? Again, typical way to increase the price of a model kit. This is a ridiculously priced model kit as well as a ridiculously priced lighting kit. If you know anything about LED lighting, everything can be purchased for a fraction of the price. One big FLAW with this kit is the wire are way too thick. It also LACKS many lights such as red/port and stbd/green running lights and other lights. A better video would be doing your own lighting as opposed to promote one that is: - EXPENSIVE, - WIRES TOO THICK - INCOMPLETE That’s, the electric. I also find the red and blue coloured clear parts make it look as a toy. You may as well just buy clear pain and do them yourself. I don’t think I’ve seen a single build vid using the red nacelle domes. If you’re 10 years old, maybe this kit is for you.
