1.4TDI Top end engine rebuild PD80 (Project Bluemo)

thanks for this, I have Audi A2 1.4 tdi and I'm in need to do top end as it has 180k done and want to keep this workhorse really.

Hi mate my noise has been diagnosed as camshaft and lifters. Is it easy to do yourself as garage quoted £700... also any tips would be appreciated! cheers

If you have basic tools & knowledge, you can do it at home, If not then £700 is well over priced, It's a job I'd charge £200 Labour worst case scenario, parts are around £150 on ebay and a new timing kit is £100-£200 depending on brand & if you replace waterpump, the timing kit is a "while you're in there" job but not mandatory if it's not due for changing. I'm near Leeds & Manchester if you're local.

awesome thankyou! your a bit far out for me or I'd love too, too many lazy garages round here. Will I need to buy special tool to remove cam gear and do I need to move timing a certain degree to take apart?
