Dont tell coach T, but i knew he was going to be at this field in my hometown. So I lit a fire to add some intense drama to his new video. Unfortunately my plan backfired and the fire later burned someones house down. I was charged with arson and had to have my ex wife sneak a cell phone into prison in her underpants just so i could comment on this video. Pray for me. Be out in 2026!

No matter what form mistakes I try to fix I only throw 270 once in a blue moon 300. I think distance is like a finger print. It’s different for everyone. For some people no amount of practice or detail to form will get you any extra distance. I can putt really well and i consistently beat many players that throw further than me. Drive for show putt for dough.

Almost anyone can throw at least 300 throw though. It’s just more difficult for some people than others just like anything with sports

Some need to really break things down. Recalibrate your grip, your coil up and all. Some I know that throw almost everything really well, but they’re just missing the snap on the finish that really gets the disc spinning.

His issue is opening his plant foot, not hits staggered stance. I'm not saying there aren't other ways to throw, but every single touring pro says the opposite of this video lol. Staggering your feet gives you the ability to engage your hips. If you're doing it too much, it's just as bad as not doing it. I would listen to the actual pros that bomb 600+ feet than a guy that use to play pick up basketball. Again, his issue in this video is opening up his plant foot before bracing. Watch Joel freeman.
@andrewjung6987
@andrewjung6987 4 ай бұрын
100% correct. Pros brace with a closed plant foot. They also transfer their momentum into the plant foot and pull the lead hip back and out of the way, which causes the back leg to counter and move behind them. Just go to overthrows channel instead. They just posted a video and showed their distances with their speeds, like this channel refuses to do. Josh is smooth, and gets over 400 with such good form, and it actually looks similar to pros. This guy will refuse to do the same thing, and his followers come screeching after you.
@jcarwash31
@jcarwash31 3 ай бұрын
I feel like this guy is trying to teach the same things everybody else is, but refuses to use the same terminology to describe it. The solution in this video is the exact staggered position everyone else teaches, but we can't call it that. Instead, it's "toes on a line". Your toes will always be on a line. You only have 2 feet. He just dropped a line on the ground, but didn't explain why at that angle. That angle puts your back toes and front heel on a line to your target/throwing line. Thus, the heel-toe stagger.

I've seen pros say to stagger the feet (Gibson, Lizotte to name a couple). Am I misunderstanding their intent when they say this, or is it something you disagree with in their throw? I know you've studied their form extensively so I am curious to hear your answer. Appreciate the videos as well, they've been helpful to me!

I’ve been watching the top pros backhand slow motion break downs over the years and besides that one shot of Drew they all do a small heel to toe. The 2 pictures of your heel to toe were way too exaggerated. There is barely any gap between the back toe and the front heel but they are all doing it. Do it too much like in your examples and yea you’re going to injury your groin. But do it at a small degree like the pros and it helps you actively engage your hips while you coil and pull through.

@@andrewjung6987 Honest question, if you don't agree, why spend so much time here. I don't comment on overthrows channel because I know it doesn't apply to me. I really want you to tell me from your other comment with video proof that Josh looks like a pro when he throws. That is one of the most delusional things I have ever heard. Actually, better yet, show me anyone from overthrow that got to 500ft from his coaching
@andrewjung6987
@andrewjung6987 4 ай бұрын
@@tonyriedel4421 there’s a video that even says it in the title. Their last video shows Mikey throwing over 500 consistently and Josh throwing over 400 consistently. In his form, he braces just as the pros do, as well as has the same head positioning and timing mechanics. Slingshot is the only coach on YT trying to say something contradictory to physics. It’s pure misinformation. In his latest short, he even teaches to plant with an open lead foot. Personally, I comment because I genuinely care about objective truth. His method caused my only injury in disc golf. It’s absolutely terrible, and I’ve been open to being proven wrong but the guy simply hides. I think he’s a fraud who is trying to sell snake oil. I don’t think he understands anything about human anatomy. I think he’s doing more harm than good for the DG community. These comment sections are for opinions, discussions, and criticism. Yet, this channel and those who watch it scream like banshees when their ideas are challenged without ever providing solid proof of this method working. And now you’re claiming that no one from OT can throw over 500 despite the video evidence (which this channel won’t provide). You know why this coach only has unathletic people on. Because any athlete with a modicum of common sense would know that he’s full of it. If this were my channel, I’d be more than happy to prove that what I’m selling works. If someone isn’t willing to do that, then what they’re selling isn’t worth buying.

I just noticed you have never (I think?) talked about nose angle issues in your series. Maybe you simply never had issues with it?
@NickCarroll
@NickCarroll 4 ай бұрын
In my experience playing with nose angle, it largely was solved by having a correct swing plane and not rounding, to where I don't actively attempt to do anything with my grip once I grab the disc properly. I think grip is probably a factor, but I wouldn't mess with other cues unless you have 1) the disc on the swing plane throughout the swing, 2) you're absolutely not rounding (this actually is a causal factor for many people with swing plane issues), and 3) you have a grip of the disc that doesn't cause the disc to be nose up. It's quite possible that since Coach T worked out all these issues years ago, he's not had to focus on nose angle. I'm not trying to answer for him, just letting you know my experience with this issue, that I just haven't seen people advise before. Basically if you create a "swoop" in your swing, it'll be nose up at release, on top of potentially a launch angle that's too high, as well. 🙂

IMO, the "how" is key to changing that open/staggered plant. He is used to pushing his knee out but what he needs is to turn the knee/foot in and use the outside of the glute to "reach" with the foot.
