Great tutorial. Funny i never thought of running power off of bp to main boards. Our setups usually have nl4 and makes hard to reach so i power door controllers from power distribution (d8).

Great video. Although when it comes to RS-485, the ground its to prevent interference. it is never really an issue if you are doing short distances but if your doing more than 2 boards or running long runs of RS-485, you do want to add the ground to avoid interference in the line. its the same reason reader wire comes shielded.

When you wired the outputs to the power board you did wired the actual Maglocks, i didnt see a the main maglock feed connected anywhere

What software is this. My experience with Mercury boards is that the strike relay for Reader 2 is relay 4.

You need the ground on RS485 as reference, but it's technically fine as it's off the same DC supply. But also you should use twisted pair, not alarm cable

RS485 is balanced, there is no need for reference.

Im wiring a 1502 Mercury board up. What about the position switchs signifying what number door controller it is? Im only wiring one 1502.
