By the 7:00 mark, there are at least 5 highly questionable or debatable assertions. The first game is against a 1700 player, and I don't care how much of a Caro-Kann specialist he may be, I'd be extremely surprised if a player with that ratig understands the game well enough to play a solid example game. But, he actually plays the first opening moves well enough, illustrating one of the debatable assertions made about this opening. A good openings player will notice the similarity to 4 pawns attack of the Alekhine's defense with the major difference of the missing pawns... and the Black QB isn't trapped behind the pawn wall. If Black is familiar with the 4 pawn Alekhine's attack stratagems, he'll probably do really well here, invalidating White's position because fewer drawbacks in Black's structure and setup plus semi-open file has to outweigh the additional open lines for White with the missing f pawn. I expect the rest of the video is of like quality. I'll just leave it that Black should have no problems against White with almost any setup he chooses, and this may be an important consideration that White does not force Black in any way.

If you rely on the Caro Kann as your main answer to 1.e4, Levy's content (here the Fantasy Variation) and the problems it poses for Black will make you a stronger player. After 3...Qb6 consolidating the center (and dark-squares) with 4.c3 is best, as 4.a4 is well met by the central strike 4...e5!, which exploits the weakness on the g1-a7 diagonal caused by the "unprincipled" 3.f3. After 5.dxe5 Black goes 5...a5!, which almost equalizes according to Stockfish, as Black then answers 6.exd5 with 6...Bc5!, and it's on! Levy is right as regards the challenge 3...Qb6 presents to White, but after 4.a4, Black has time to eye the weaknesses in White's position , and in the old Grand Style! Welcome any challenge to your favorite lines. In chess, to develop as a player you must welcome conflict and contradiction, for what does not destroy you makes you stronger!

@@highcue It kind of was trolling but there was a true aspect of it. I was referring to mid-good lvl players that wanna play an opening where you don't just lose after 8 moves if you play them not in the right order (like the french). Or an opening were you literally need no skill for and can crush anyone even someone with 400 rating more then you by just knowing 15 moves out of the opening and winning immediately (London). Personally I hate it to play against the London that's why I also hate so much on it lol but the French is indeed refuted on the top lvl (2700+)
@chesscrush3 жыл бұрын
@@highcue as a beginner it's absolutely fine to pretty much play anything. If you just have the right understanding of the game (structures, endgames,, a bit positional stuff but most importantly tactics) you will get to 2000+ without any big problems. Easier said than done but by just doing 30 mins tactics a day on Chess.com (if you have the premium membership) or on Lichess (for unlimited free puzzles) will be enough to make progress over the next few months. As for openings the London is a good way to start into the game, get specific concepts or know where the pieces have good squares but I would recommend going for either an Italian or spanish opening (you do need to study some theory for it though). If you wanna avoid theory openings, the London, English or King's Indian (similar to the thing you showed me) are good to go for a setup. If you wanna learn more about these openings, many good players have made videos about it.

@@skyleryork3591 no its not lol. Playing down a piece all game is just cringe even for online chess. He was positionally lost and down a piece. He was even down on time I dont know what he was smoking but there was no way he would even draw this. Lol did you see hikaru's latest video, coincidetally he literally just said what im saying xd.

At 29:24 In second game, instead of taking knight with e5 pawn, you could have taken e6 pawn with knight attacking the queen and the rook at the same time and could have just won the rook or queen and also his f6 knight on next move with e5 pawn

That’s a good thing. We should help improve the entire community for greater complexity in play. Makes chess far more interesting. Levy did say “Don’t play chess if you don’t want to lose. It will only make you sad”

I just don't have the eyes for chess. I am always blind to some blunder. I have had a 99.7% accuracy game but it was because the opponent resigned very early on after a very stupid start. But that's what it takes to get a 99.7 hehe. I don't know how to share it but here are the moves. [Date "2021-04-12"] 1. d4 d5 2. Nc3 Nf6 3. Bg5 e5 4. dxe5 Bb4 5. exf6 Qd6 6. fxg7 1-0
