When a Glock is an "old school gun" I know I'm finally, actually old. I was issued 9BPLE for my 9mm duty handguns back in the day. I still have several boxes of it. It's what's in most of my 9s to this day.

The 9BP has been around for quite some time. It was always known as a man stopper. The quick energy dump contributed to that. When the LE version came out it just enhanced the effect. It’s always been a great round. It feeds well in almost everything. I had an old Browning High Power that would only feed hardball, and 9BPLE.

I just bought a 1000rd case of 9BPLE 2 days ago...what a coincidence. I've been using this stuff for decades (along with a few others). Not only is it very powerful, it is very, very accurate out of every gun I've ever shot it from. The best part about it is the price though. This stuff can routinely be had for about one third to one half the price of most premium self defense rounds. Thanks for the testing, good video.

I've been using the 9BPLE load since the late 1980s. The three Marshall & Sanow books put it at the very top of the documented street results. Today, in all of my carry guns, the Hellcat, the G-19, and the CZ-75 Compact (NOT the PCR-it has an alloy frame), with their short barrels, I carry and practice with +P+ only. My Agency at the Border called the combination of the 9BPLE load and our Glocks the ideal combination. BP Agent John Jacobs of our National Firearms Unit wrote a report to that effect that was printed in their second book. Just a thought--WHY does nobody highlight the value of the HUGE temporary wound cavity that these produce? Hammer. 43+ year Firearms Instructor; USAF SSgt; US Army CW4/SrAviator; INS/ICE/CBP, ret.

Thanks for this test AZA. The 127gr Ranger is super impressive at 1348fps. Soy boys will say that’s acceptable 357SIG velocity but we know it starts at 1500 and up from there. These 9mm are on the ragged edge of performance matching 9mm Major velocity. If you can get 1348 from a 127gr the 115gr should max out over 1400fps. @@Valorius Higher FPE per inch of penetration will contribute to a higher possible psychological stop, if not with higher pain, the louder smack of the bullet, or the felt shock even if it fails to cause trauma can also lead to a psychological stop. I think the 2 factors that matter is more penetration and higher avg FPE delivery per inch of penetration. Both can only be measured in gel test and only be compared to other rounds in identical tests. Penetration depth in gel will not directly result in the same depth into living tissue. Ideally, an acceptable amount of penetration is desired with the highest possible FPE delivered per inch(on average). High penetration and very low FPE delivery results as a pass-thru with little feel. I'm sure we all have heard stories about people who have been shot and did not realize it due to the excitement from adrenaline or at least have experienced something alike, however, there is a limit to how much pain can be ignored. We don't become invincible, even though it can seem like it. Truth is most ammunition choices will lack enough FPE delivery to accomplish such a stop with handguns but be more typical with a shotgun or rifle, although, not certain. Even a .223 FMJ will lack it. When ideal penetration from a handgun is 18", even 1000FPE will result in less than 50FPE per inch. IMO, at least 75FPE per inch of penetration is required to even begin to have a chance at temporarily causing nerve disruption, paralysis or organ failure (like knocking the wind out, or a cardiac failure) or just causing a tremendous amount of pain. Punching someone in the gut can stop someone temporarily because there is 0 penetration and FPE delivery can be higher than 100FPE instantaneously, same reason a hit to the head can cause a knockout. Another thing I always have to remind is that desiring a 1 shot stop does not mean that we expect to instantly kill with one shot, we just need a stop which allows time to escape or evade, deescalate, subdue, gain a tactical advantage, or also finish off an attacker.

@@Valorius I shot an "ICP LOAD" on a Juggle-lette one time... It was Early June, 1998... I came upon a "Posse Wagon Camper" with a flat on the side of the road ....OOppss... Wrong subject!

357 Sig is still hotter. If you compare a Glock 17 to a Glock 33 you’re going to get closer results because the 17 has an inch longer barrel. But if you compared a Glock 31 to a 17, the 31 Would smoke the 17 all day long.
