Why did you choose to use the small FlashBender as opposed to the large one for this shoot? Is there an advantage to one over the other, depending on situation (besides space that they take up, or length of snoot that they can roll up into)?
@ExpoImagingInc Жыл бұрын
Hi Mark, We simply wanted to show what you can do with the Small FlashBender. It's smaller and lighter than the Large FlashBender, which for some people is a little too big to use on-camera when shooting events. Also, if your flash is one of those models that doesn't lock in the upright position for bounce flash then you would be better off using the Small FlashBender. Not only is the small size lighter, but at half the length there is significantly less leverage on the flash head joint. This helps the flash head to stay in the upright position.
@MarkOnJapan Жыл бұрын
@@ExpoImagingInc Thank you for the well-thought-out reply, and on an 8-year-old video no less! I think I have a better idea of which version suits my situation better now. I appreciate the response, and the useful point about having a non-locking flash!

Hi! I'm a beginner and I bought a flash blender large soft box kit. A question: for photographs of events with groups of people it is better to use with or without the softbox?
@ExpoImagingInc8 жыл бұрын
Hi rinoa20001, Good question! It depends on what your environment is like. If you're outdoors photographing a group of people and have no ceiling above you, you could either bend the FlashBender forward to prevent light from being lost to the sky where it will never bounce back down, or you could use the Large Diffusion Panel to make your FlashBender Reflector into a softbox. The Diffusion Panel will, additionally, cut down on contrast and specular highlights that may appear on the subject's skin. Let us know if you have any other questions, we're happy to assist. @rinoa200018 жыл бұрын
Hi! thank you for answer. I did some tests and I have observed that with the same settings if you do not use the softbox but only the reflector light is very strong. It Is good if the room is very dark but I need to stay a bit far from the subject. I will try to use softbox for portrait.

Great video! Just one question. What would you consider the ideal prime lens focal length in a situation like this, or would you use a zoom lens?
@ExpoImagingInc8 жыл бұрын
Hi Frank, Thanks for your question. It really is dependent on what kind of situations you're shooting in. Some portrait shooter prefer primes, but like the versatility of zoom lenses. Regardless of what you're doing, it's always a good idea to rent some lenses to test drive before purchasing. Let us know if you have any other questions. Regards, -The ExpoImaging Team

What gel and wb would you use if the room had Florencet lights?
@ExpoImagingInc9 жыл бұрын
Steve Craig, for fluorescent gels you'll want to use the "plus green" color correction gels.
@stevecraig93849 жыл бұрын
Also you would want to set your wb to Florencent

?
@ExpoImagingInc9 жыл бұрын
Hi Steve Craig , yes after that you would set your camera's white balance to fluorescent in order to balance all color temperatures in the photo.

hi, how would the small flashbender compare with results from the rogue bouncecard? the latter is taller and narrower. Is the difference negligible for this use?
@ExpoImagingInc7 жыл бұрын
Hi Stefano, both would produce similar results, the primary difference being that the Rogue FlashBender 2 Small Reflector can be converted into an off-camera snoot, as where the bounce card could not be converted into a snoot. Let us know if you have any other questions! Regards, -The ExpoImaging Team

I see you had another light source behind you. Did you have to use that source as well to help light the room or was it all flash and flashbender?
@ExpoImagingInc8 жыл бұрын
Hi dozierc, Thank you for your question. The light panel that I believe you're referring to behind Erik is likely the LED video light that was used during the production of the video. The photographs you see in these videos are illuminated from the available light in the room (minus the video lights) and the speedlight with FlashBender 2 attached. Let us know if you have any other questions. Regards, -The ExpoImaging Team

Question : Did you use ETTL or manual for the photoshoot?
@ExpoImagingInc9 жыл бұрын
+MrGjallarhornet We're not sure as Erik didn't take lighting notes during this shoot but he does use both. Considering that his flash was on-camera, we're betting he used TTL. Let us know if you have any other questions, we're available for help at support(at)expoimaging.com -The ExpoImaging Team

how/what would you use a flashbender(s) to shoot a group of 10 ish people. . 5 people across . . day and night?
@ExpoImagingInc7 жыл бұрын
Hi Sarah, Thank you for your questions. It is possible to accomplish a large group shot like this with a Flash Bender. A small or large would work great on camera, and if you're outdoors we would recommend using it along with the diffusion panel. Let us know if you have any other questions, we're happy to assist. White ceiling needed.
@ExpoImagingInc9 жыл бұрын
Arthur Krasinsky In this particular situation, yes a light-colored or white ceiling would be needed. However, the FlashBender 2s can be bent forward if you're outdoors or indoors with off-color or high ceilings to push most of your light foward. Alternatively, you can use the Rogue Diffusion Panels for Rogue FlashBenders to cut down on harsh spekular highlights (face shine) and use the entire surface area of a FlashBender. The Rogue Diffusion Panels for Rogue FlashBenders encase the the light, push it forward from diffusion material, and prevent the light from getting lost in the sky or in high-ceiling venues. Thanks for watching the video. :) Sure, some people may prefer more or less color, or more of less exposure in the foreground or background. It really just depends on what you want in your image. We made this video because a lot of people struggle with poor color balance when using flash indoors, e.g. unwanted orangish or bluish tints in the foreground or background. This is simply intended to demonstrate a simple technique you can use to improve the overall color balance, if desired.
