Hi Maria, I know that I'm a little late to the party (watching this and all your videos) but I'm just getting started playing goalie (I'm 62 yr old) and I have only played goalie once at puck play about 20 years ago... I really appreciate all your helpful information and advice and encouragement you have in all your videos so please keep up all your hard work. Thanks and have a great day 😀, Ronald

Thank you Ron, I appreciate that - and welcome to the Goalie Union! Have fun out there, be gentle with yourself, it can be frustrating sometimes.

I came onto KZbin to find a hiit workout. Then the notification for this video popped. PERFECT TIMING. I smashed my face off the like button. ;)

Maria, you're the biggest beauty on KZbin. Without gym or ice access, your videos are essential for keeping ground work exercises fun and fresh. Had three skates in four days last week after 15 weeks off ice and felt really good. Have you to thank in a big big way. A mix of jogs, mountain hikes, no booze, and your workouts, I'm a cut above the guys who are all panting and gassed. Looking forward to seeing your first skate back since! Cheers from Vancouver!

Hi Scott - thanks so much for that! So glad you have been feeling great out there. I had my first skate today and felt AWESOME too. Great mobility, good power, balance came back fast. Winded at times for sure, but it is going to be that way. Glad you made the most of your time away from the ice - - you ROCK!

Not back on the ice yet, but been actively training the past 6 weeks...definitely incorporating this goalie-specific HiiT into my training. Thanks Maria!! 🥅🏒🥅

This is a great little workout Maria! Would this be appropriate for my 11 year old who is already quite active? He's really enjoying your workout for goalies under 14 and he just loves doing these kinds of things. Thanks for everything you post, and once my son is old enough for your Shutout Academy I'm sure he'll love to join. I certainly won't pressure or rush anything with him because I'm a former goalie who now knows the effects of training and practicing everyday beginning at a young age :)

Hi Shane - glad you like it - - I didn't design it for youngsters - you probably saw the workout I did put together for them a few weeks ago - but maybe if you guys do it together for a couple sets - a few times per week - probably not going to hurt him.
@shanefrancescut4 жыл бұрын
@@goalietraining thanks, I appreciate it. And yes, he loves the kids program that you put together a few weeks ago. Take care!

Hey Maria, the problem for me is when the shot is released I shift my weight back which puts me on the heels of my feet. Wondering if you could direct me to a few exercises that could help me stay on the balls of my feet. Thanks.
@goalietraining4 жыл бұрын
That is more working on the habit - it isn't that you're not strong enough to do it, you just have a habit of moving away from the shot. I would find someone to shoot on you off-the ice, starting with easy shots where you can focus on 'leaning into' the shot.

How often do you recommend doing this workout? Does it compliment another (besides the dynamic warmup) for the “off days”?
@goalietraining4 жыл бұрын
You could do it 3 times per week - it could compliment your strength training days.

Woohoooo - thanks for the smash! I just got on the ice today - it was so fun - I hope you get out there soon too. Just make sure you take the time to do a good off-ice warm up before you put your gear on.

It DOES look easy, but it is hard for anyone - as you get more fitness, you will be able to go faster, but it will still be fatiguing for sure!
