High schooler knowing more about the world than smartest person a few 100 yrs ago? Ya may wanna tack a ‘geographical’ on the front of that.... youve got Jesus Christ, Santa, Eve... They all knew some shit..... Chuck a senior in the forest and watch him educate the fuck outta some tribes on the world. Or let him call the shots on the country’s foreign policy relations.... Yea, they know a lot more stuff alright. But much of it is a filtered version of the world based on the politics of the country. Maybe its true in asia and india.... But not America 😂 Unlimited Fed funding to your Treasury and corporate world, plus International uni students (which started leaving us unis n heading home over 10yrs ago) are the only reason the country has been able to progress at the rate it has, cause your national curriculum ,sucks.... Notice how the countries whose children used to make your shoes now embarrasses the US on the tech front. Us companies are mostly riding on momentum, capture of regulatory bodies and market share.

@SuicideSanta3
@SuicideSanta3 3 жыл бұрын
Your biology teacher deems it "barely passable". 100 years ago, it's revolutionary. And presumably, that's a subject you struggle in. What about a subject which fascinates you? What do you know of how computers work? Or engines, gasoline, chemistry, lights, any technology we have now that fascinates you enough to learn it in and out? If your knowledge of biology is revolutionary, imagine the knowledge of a subject you know well. It's technology changing 100 years ago and 300, it changes the course of humanity. Remember that, and that if you feed that which intrigues you, it may one day change humanity now. Despite what your biology professor says.

@@alhsihtisharfnao7816 fascination that goes beyond face value. If you're fascinated by fast cars and that fascination is beyond a surface depth, it is more than a fascination but a thorough curiosity and that's what i was getting at. That curiosity that leads you to learn everything there is to learn about how an engine works. How the timing and fuel air ratio and compression and engine speed go together to make an engine that pushes limits. And the transmission. The axle gear ratio. That fascination, when fed, becomes curiosity. That curiosity can become an obsession that you revolutionize. Don't dismiss curiosity. If your emotions overtake your fascination, study your emotions. Perhaps what you're curious on is how you feel. And if you feed it it might revolutionize psychology. Or perhaps you go into a field to study that which makes up the basic building of senses, how is taste taste kind of stuff. Or maybe you find a way to best that emotional overtaking and keep going. Or maybe it pushes you to new fascination that then becomes the obsession. See where I'm going with this? The curiosity only comes when you find something so fascinating that it becomes your focus. And curiosity funds the sciences and understanding of the universe. The need to answer how and why.

Yes, it's both. Mostly we know that if "x" happens then "y" will follow, but we don't know why that is the case. And when we learn more it's usually that "x" causes "w", then "z" happens which causes "y", but we don't know why "w"causes "z". So basically we understand most things at a low level of complexity, but if you dig down into the details there's always a point at which we don't really know anymore. Personally I think that will probably always be the case. For every answer we get we have two new questions.

Murder rate goes up with drug use and crime. Both of those are very high in South America do to government corruption. The reason that they'd be higher in Democratic cities in the USA is that the more metropolitan, both drug crime and left leaning political stances go up. They have the same cause, but one doesn't cause the other.

@Ben Jackbag Mank Those great minds couldn't have done jackshit entirely by themselves though. There needed to be people that made it easy enough to access food, water and shelter. There needed to be people that taught them or enabled them to learn the basics before they could dig deeper into things.There needed to be people for them to form relationships with to keep their motivation up and to pass on their discoveries. There's plenty of things that people all around them did to help them on their path, ranging from absolute essentials to some tiny things with almost unnoticeable, yet notable effects, some of these things affecting them directly, others indirectly. And the things that these great minds achieved weren't meant just for themselves. They did it all for the good of the entirety of humanity. To argue that their achievements aren't also all of humanity's achievements is semantics at most.

Ben Jackbag Mank No one is trying to hog the credit from the people who are directly responsible for a particular innovation, they’re just referring to humanity collectively as a cooperative species which got to this point together. Our society is an interconnected web of relationships which help us individually accomplish a LOT more than we could ever accomplish entirely on our own. Innovators couldn’t bring us forward without standing on the shoulders of giants in terms of the knowledge, tools and resources made available to them.
@adammartinez8794
@adammartinez8794 5 жыл бұрын
Ben Jackbag Mank You’re still not getting it. Without the cooperation of billions of people both past and present, people who would otherwise be scientists and inventors would be too busy trying to survive than to learn and innovate on anywhere near the level they’re capable of doing within modern civilization. They’d be primitive hunter gatherers without it. No one here has claimed that anyone else is directly responsible for innovation, you can’t put words in our mouths, but what IS being said is that ALL of us are highly interdependent on each other. Society props ALL of us up to be able to produce more with our labor than we otherwise could have entirely on our own, including but not limited to scientists and inventors. The vast majority of us contribute to the overall maintenance of society by performing labor and providing value within it, not the other way around.

@@diablo.the.cheater I think magic is meant to be inconsistent or depend on the consciousness, or the whims of conscious beings. For example, sometimes magic has the user form contracts with fairies, demons, gods or some other sentient whatnot, and thus the outcomes won't be consistent, like asking the same question to someone won't. Though of course, not nearly always magic relies on other sentient beings' whims. Another version is that the competence of magic users comes from them and not their tools. Bob might have a machine gun but Carl can breath fire, normally without having anything flammable in his mouth prior. I think it's common for magic to violate the conservation of energy, as energy seems to be created by consciousness, thus a box with a human's molecules scattered around would have less energy than a box with a thinking breathing human, who uses magic and can spit fire to burn and suffocate himself in there

Well the "magic" in the movie Dotor Strange is atcually not magic, it's actually some sort of physics from other universes in the multiverse that the sorcerers use to protect Earth from the threats outside.( That is actually explained in Doctor Strange)

It seems that YOU misunderstand "Darwin" (that statement itself doesn't even make sense but lets pretend it does). What do you mean curing diseases is a "bad" think in the eyes of a Darwinist? What is the definition of a "good" think in the eyes of a Darwinist? There is no objective "good" or "bad" in evolution. Also, survival as a result of the actions of our community is representative of the success of our ability to socialize with each each other. Human relations are the result of evolution, and so is the eventual consequences of our ability to relate and socialize with each other--including curing each other of diseases.

@@davidnguyen9065 I love how you immediately degrade commenters for deeming the song nerdy - yes it isn't exactly the most advanced information - yet completely miss the implied comparison to typical hip hop in the original comment. Even the brief inclusion of the scientific topics in the video would reasonably qualify the video as nerdy in comparison to typical hiphop regardless of the academic level of the inclusion.

Dude where has this video been all my life? I've spent my whole life being mindblown by all this technology that surrounds us.. I've noticed that most people use it but don't have a clue how it actually works (including myself). And I spent a huge chunk of my spare time wondering what the heck humans did before all the comforts and entertainments we have at our disposal today. You've covered everything I've ever wondered in this one video. Technology is still wizardry in my books, no matter how well you explain it. I feel like I'm stuck in the stone age on a personal level - I have access to video games and KZbin and all that fun stuff.. and yet I still choose to spend my free time in the woods, playing with dirt. I'm still mindblown by modern medicine - even our medical devices and doo-dads astound me. Also, my family back in my home country who still live in a village.. Well, they've just started getting electricity in their village the past few years. But yeah, my background probably has something to do with why I ask all these questions.
