10 Asexual Identities You Might Be

Hello everyone! In today's video I'm going to be talking about 10 asexual identities you might be! The asexual spectrum doesn't get talked about a lot and there are a lot of identities that get overlooked. I'm Apothisexual (though I just say I'm sex repulsed as more people understand that)! Though I am disgusted by sexual things involving myself only and sexual stuff involving others I'm indifferent to uncomfortable at max, not disgusted.

I discovered asexuality a while ago and started looking into it more because I think I'm definitely somewhere on that spectrum, but I feel like both all and none of these labels fit me to some degree. It's really confusing and hard to explain, but I'm slowly piecing it together. Thank you for making all these videos about asexuality, they're clearing a lot of things up for me.

Are there identities that are the other side of this coin? I've always felt weird because sex is a big part of how I connect with people and it's not necessarily romantic. Like if I want to know someone deeper, sex can help. This video was very interesting l. I didn't realize there were so many different Ace identities!

I've heard of people who identify as megasexual, which is an opposite of demisexual according to them (they have actually said "the opposite of", but I think they are not aware of fraysexuality, which is also an opposite of demisexuality). To my understanding, they don't romantic connections (I think that in megasexuals' cases it is specifically romantic and not generally deep bonds, but I know that only from reading a little) until after they have formed deep sexual bonds. I hope I described it correctly, I've barely heard of it.

I have kinda known since I was 17 (I'm 26 now) that I had a different experiance with sex/sexual attraction than others, whilst also known about asexuality... but it's only over the last 4-ish years that I'm starting to accept that I'm on the ace spectrum. I was so easy for me to accept my bi-identity (which I still identify with), but comming to terms with my ace-ness is difficult. It's not made easier by the fact that I don't really see myself neatly in one label (gray/Cupio might be the closest) and that noone has been able to explain to me what sexual attraction feels like.. I am aroflux (frayromantic, lithromantic and cupioromantic) and I knew I was asexual but didn't quite knew what label was the right one. I think i am apothisexual thanks to the viedeo. I haven't heard of apothisexual before and I think it's just the right label for me So thanks for this viedeo ^_^

Wow this whole time I thought I was just Demi but was confused at how it didn’t always fit. But now im thinking AceFlux because I tend to jump around to lots of different ones or sometimes I’ll identify with more than one at a time. Typically Aegosexual and Cupiosexual. Because I like the idea sometimes of engaging but I don’t really want to actually do it, but I’ll do it anyway because I want to feel close to my partner or make them happy. And all of my relationships have been fraysexual for sure. I am much more likely to be sexually open in the beginning and lose my steam as time goes on. My energy meter runs out and it becomes exhausting trying to keep up with that original bar that I set myself up for failure. All these terms make it a lot more confusing to explain to other people but at least it is a bit more eye opening for myself to understand what it is I’m portraying.

Yes you can still just use the asexual label. As long as you fall somewhere on the ace spectrum, it’s totally fine to use

Just found out I might be aceflux, since I have aegosexual experiences and demisexual experiences (when demisexual it is bisexual/pansexual) also I am biromantic/panromantic (I dont mind what lebel is used here, but I am attracted to personality not sex/gender).

Straight men on dating apps are so accepting of me when I tell them I'm asexual. Once I reminded a guy that I am ace as it was in my bio and his response was "I want you to sit on my face"💀 I blocked him after that of course. It really sucks that you can't choose an orientation of a person on those apps. Like on badoo you can choose hetero homo bi or questioning but asexual isn't an option. I just want an ace/demi man to date is it too much to ask??

Some of these I agree with but some not. I asked on another channel why we needed so many labels. But basically got “let people do what they want if it makes them happy” Until we come together as a community an decide to start gatekeeping nothing will change. I have the same issue with the romance side of things too. A lot of these are just allo or a longer way of saying Demi more than once.

My logic is sexuality only makes sense to be put into categories of attraction to genders/sexes, or else it gets watered down and made meaningless. Hetero/homo/bi/ace: and any of them can be paired with aromantic (even though that's actually an entirely separate category by itself) Anything else is a preference. It doesn't _necessarily_ mean they're less valid, but they're just not the same as sexuality.

@@NeatCrown I don't think anyone is suggesting that these labels are an orientation in the same way as hetero, homo, bi, or ace. These are micro-labels that go along with those orientations. Sub-categories basically. As for why they're needed, I see two reasons. For one, they're a reminder that asexuality is a spectrum and doesn't have to be so rigidly defined. Some people hear "asexual" and assume it means essentially a robot who has no libido and feels no form of attraction to anyone. But there are more shades of gray to it than that. And two, the micro-labels help people accept themselves and not feel "broken." I know I felt like there was something wrong with me for years since I had little to no interest in sex, was uncomfortable with it, and had trouble maintaining relationships. The ace community and learning about the various labels helped me see that there are others out there with similar experiences. I do think that some of the micro-labels get ridiculously specific and only confuse the matter. But if they help people accept themselves and be happy, I don't see the harm.

@@Pixis1 They don't need to exist, precisely _because_ they are microlabels. The issue with microlabels is like I said, a way for people to force themselves into space they do not belong. Also, they're confusing and pedantic. Asexuality is _by definition_ the lack of sexuality. There are still prefixes: heteroromantic, homoromantic, biromantic, and aromantic. All asexuality is referring to is _sexual attraction;_ nothing else. If someone is atheist, it doesn't mean they think there is sorta-god or believe in a kinda-religion; it means they do not have religious beliefs.
