#7; I have a CYC Photon conversion, so the support plan is, in the worst case, revert the bike back to accoustic.

I completly agree! I ride an full power E-Bike since last october. Before that I had the usual prejudices against it. Now I ride around 70% on the bike without a motor and 30% on the e-bike. It is intended as an environmentally friendly replacement for my KTM Hardenduro.

Oh my God, okay. The flat pedals they got now. Has these little things sticking up? That really grab your feet bare. Claw petals everywhere, like that, so we went clipless. I wrote my whole cycling career clips. I'm riding on flat pedals now. Dude. Everything you've said is you, dude. You're right on. You're right on of stuff that yeah, i'm learning it, i'm, this is a great video dude

I feel the same in regard to shifting and the ideal number of gears on an ebike. Much wider spreads are manageable and fewer are needed. I might still need some differentiation on the small cogs though, to adjust pedal forces beyond the 25km/h motor support cap. Else, even a single fixed gear, optimised for max efficiency and an independent output motor would be great.

Exactly. The range of a 10-52 is fine. The spacing in between should be about 8 speeds, not 12.

I’m not sure about the shifting for a Trek EXe. It seems to really like a pretty narrow pedal RPM. around 100 RPM. And, I find myself shifting a lot to stay around that RPM. Which is ok with me. So for me, 12 speed is appreciated. .

@@EMTBReview Following that reason, the Pinion Motor Gearbox Unit comes only with 9 or 12 gears and without the 18 gear option from the non-motor version. And the 9 felt still more comfortable to use than 12, (having 560 instead of 600% range at 4000g instead of 4100). I guess there is no stability advantage and almost no weight savings, but I really like the fewer steps that count more.

Yeah. I find myself in the top highest gears and using by boost shifter more than my gear shifter where I would rapidly downshift on a sudden uphill.

Was a cyclist years ago. I'm old and I'm e e biking for about a month. And you know, it's just ingrained into me. To put the lightest wheels and the lightest things. I can got titanium bolts and s*** on my bike right. That should don't matter, no more. It don't matter, no more, I can put a heavy tube in there and it's not really going to change anything, it's it's cool, the first thing you said it's like yeah, that was the first thing I've. Where can I get a repair stand like the one you showed while you were lubing the chain?

Like how manny chains do you use over the years, do you ride mid low vear or hi mid(soft pedaling) gearing?
@EMTBReview
@EMTBReview 14 күн бұрын
I mostly ride mid power and 30% full power. So very stressful on the chain. It lasts me about 1500 miles until I have to replace the chain. This is only if I clean and lube the chain religiously after very couple of rides. Otherwise, 500-700 miles and this chain is toast.

I have an aluminum levo and keep thinking of getting a carbon one to reduce weight. I dont think it is worth the money half the time, what do you think? You said in tip one to not worry about that. From your experience, do you ride any better on one or the other?
@EMTBReview
@EMTBReview 15 күн бұрын
No, difference that I can tell, especially on the Levo. Both qreat equally awesome in terms of stiffness and ride quality. Carbon looks better but the 2 lb. weight difference in frame is not noticeable

Correct. A midpower bike is midway between analog and full power shifting requirements. The weaker the torque of the motor and the narrower the power band, the more shifting is required for optimum performance.

You know I was in the first group of mountain bikers. I remember the first mountain bikes, right? You know I was in the first group I remember before fully suspension. I remember before S BTS PD tow clips. I remember before all that. We were the first ones I put on a bike race. You know. Ah. So I think it's excellent that I'm a in the you know? I'm early enough to kind of be considered in the first group of V bikers, even though it's been going for 10 years and I didn't even know it, but we're or longer, not huh? Yeah, let's do this and Thick skin. that's that's good, good, good, good, good advice, right there. That's real good advice

Huh??? Riding a Levo SL Gen 2 at 60% power most of the time and being over 200 pounds requires me to shift MORE...not LESS. Depends on the situation.
@EMTBReview
@EMTBReview 16 күн бұрын
Midpower, shift more than full power ebikes. But definitely both midpower and full power ebikes, shift less than analog bikes. The more torque the motor has and the broader the powerband, the less shifting is required. So analog equals lots of shifting.

I've had nothing but positive experiences with wax... Why do you mention not to use wax?
@EMTBReview
@EMTBReview 16 күн бұрын
The guys at Silca told me that wax cannot withstand the 700 watts of combined motor and rider power as well as wet lube. They say wax breaks down faster than what it was designed to do.

Wax is a gamechanger in any bicycle. The biggest element to cause wear in chain is dirt (small particles). Oil attracts particles. Wax repels dirt particles. No wonder, waxing chains is getting popular. I have waxed my emtb chains for 5 years. Never before had so clean and smooth shifting drivetrain. Using 3 chains (in one bike) makes it easier. Hot wax treatment for all 3 chains after about 1500- 2000km.

I converted a 20 four-year-old Gary Fisher mountain bike. I have fee breaks dude. So the next thing I'm looking at doing ISIS my breaks. And I'm having to do a lot of research cause like I said. I don't even have disk brakes on this thing. And that's where I need to spend the money breaking right now. And that's gonna be an important thing

Storing your battery at 100% charge is not a good a good practice. It will degrade the life of the battery cells. Instead, charge it the night before you are going to ride.
@EMTBReview
@EMTBReview 15 күн бұрын
It will but not to a noticeable degree. The inconvenience of pre-planning rides and only charging the night before though is highly noticeable and can degrade the biking experience. For riders who ride many times a week, keeping the bike fully charged is a good option. For those that only ride occassionally. Half charging first and then fully charging the night before is an option. My Levo has 3000 miles on it now, fully charged all the time. I have only noticed very slight decrease in range. And that's more due to the number of charge cycles rather than the charging routine.
