No brush necessary.. spray Wd-40 on chain.. leave it for a couple minutes.. wipe down with microfiber towel.. gets it’s super clean, microfiber will take off most of Wd-40… then just lube.. fastest process I’ve found.

Thanks for the tip! Could be good too after a big wash of the bike since WD is a water extricator

Great tips. Isn't it better to lube the rollers from the inside?

Pragmatic and insightful tips.👍 In my routine, I'lll use a wire brush wrapped in alcohol handwipes then apply lube carefully on the hitch rack prior to driving to the trailhead. Wrapped wire bristles to prevent scoring and oil-slick finish on my AXS GX. On E-mtb- specific drive train in near future. AXS GX is very precise and robust with the XX1 chain. But I do run the full steel NX cassette...heavier but super stout and $108 cheap.

@@EMTBReview Hah! I actually have the 8-spd Ex-1 on full sus E-fatty (no-throttle Class 1😁)...doubles as a local commuter/bar hopper bike. It's on my super torquey 160 Nm Bafang M620 motor...a real beast that does well with the robust and durable EX-1. But you're correct also, not very popular and thUs fortunately got at 50% off a while back. I should nab another cassette if SRAM decides to discontinue it in the near future.😉 An alternative altogether may be the Kindernay VII electronic (hopefully soon) IGH that uses a small chain tensioner for full sus. Cheaper and lighter than the e-Rohloff IMHO.🍻

XX1 chain hollow pins are dirt collectors. More dirt means more cleaning required.

What about Hot Wax? Thats what I do on my MTB/EMTB and quite happy with results.
@EMTBReview Жыл бұрын
I heard Hot Wax is good since it doesn't attract a lot of dirt. The key issue is the frequency of doing it might be a little more time-consuming. How often do you do it and how long does it take you?
@ibcrypto6139 Жыл бұрын
On my EMTB after about 100-150 miles there is a squeak I can hear when in high, (easy pedal), which goes away after I re-wax. I will add to this comment if that changes since I am riding so much now. After the first degrease hot wax later ones are not as difficult. So far the chain shows no sign of wear in one of those wear indicator tools. What pushed me away from oil was all the grit but I was not doing as though of a job as possible. @@EMTBReview

@@ibcrypto6139 I have been using hot paraffin wax for 9 years and just changed a YBN chain on an ebike commuter because of poor changing not elongation wear when measured with a Shimano wear checker. Distance covered was 14,000 km. Now changes perfectly. Dipping into melted paraffin wax is the way to go, applied about every 150km due to increased wear from an ebike.

It’s funny how a 2 stroke bike engine kit costs less then 150 bucks and can be slapped on many used bikes worth less the 50 bucks private part. Meanwhile a new e bike is $1000 for the absolute cheapest POS. LOL. That said my 2 stroke is very problematic and not very relaxing, great way to blow off steam and make a scene though. 😂 the 4 stroke kits are more like $300-$400 otherwise I woulda bought one of them instead, way quieter and smoother. I think some day almost everybody will have an e-bike. They are no brainers no matter what the demographic. So much bang for the buck. They are expensive but they’re also worth it.

Ebikes are not for everyone. But... someday, ebikes will own the majority of the market share. Europe is there already. Some mountain bikers just ride for the exercise and the uphill. Like runners. :)

Any Ron running a 11 speed or 12 speed cassette and chain on there Ebike is not very intelligent. You can get a nine speed extra wide Casad with us almost the exact same ratio as a 12 speed and it’s going to be way more durable and you don’t need all of those speeds on an E bike. But you people keep spending lots and lots of money on something that is inferior for the application.
