You cannot beat an old wagon, you really cant. Ive got a 1993 Astra F Estate ( with rear wheel arches, amazingly) . Its a 1.4i hair dryer and I absolutely adore it. Washing machine down the tip, sofa on the roof ( to the same destination) happy at 60 mph , 49 mpg. Cost me £400 plus a few more to get it road worthy. Dailyed during the summer, off road during the winter, cos like all good Vauxhalls it would dissolve, when my winter daily comes out, a C6 RS6, 5 litre, 572bhp nutter wagon, designed by some pissed Germans who thought putting a Lambo engine in a shooting brake was a good idea. Love them both equally. The Audi sees light of day occasionally during the summer when 0 - 60 in 4.6 in a hearse sized vehicle seems like a good idea…..

I definitely think you should do this again, but also take into account the fuel price, which would require you to increase the budget. I think $20 to $30 should do, for the budget of going form one shop to all other shops to buy the things you need. I would suggest another mattress, a few pieces of wood or metal or plastic to act as the tent stakes (two at the minimum), paracord, and some cheap tarp, and you can make A-frame tents with a mattress. The mattress part is the most important part. Heck, in autumn, you could even fill garbage bags with leaves, and tape them closed (scotch tape aka. packing tape will likely be cheaper than duct tape), and pile them up to make your mattress and pillow, ideally 4-6 times as thick as you think is the least you could do with, because they will compress, and you can cut open garbage bags and tape them together into a tarp for your tent, too. Scotch tape, garbage bags, autumn season for the free leaves, and some wood or metal takes for the A-frame of the tent.

Yeah, great episode. Would have laughed my arse off if it rained - my first thought was an angled tarp from the roof of the car (The Range do a sizeable one for £4.99), secured to the wheels of the second card with paracord, and then a ton of cardboard boxes to make a mattress from (ie, pile them high and lay on it). Seen that done during a thunderstorm on a campsite and the guy was bone dry and warm!
