That Thor story was retconned by Jim Starlin in Infinity Abyss. The four most powerful characters in the MCU right now (besides thanos) I think are Captain Marvel, Thor, Scarlett Witch, and Dr. Strange. Captain Marvel and Scarlett Witch together couldn’t kill Thanos because they both only harness the power of one infinity stone (the tesseract and the aether). We’ve already seen Thor could possibly beat Thanos, and I think that Dr. Strange could too.
