I found this on my second playthrough very recently, in the fairyland, after defeating the giant, but before going into the castle, a will-o'-the-wisp will lead you to the bridge, and make you jump left. If you follow the path, it will lead you in a small cave underneath the boss arena. In it, you will find a sword in a bonfire. If Geralt lights the fire, he will kneel beside it for a moment, then you can take the sword. It's a nod to Dark Souls, where the only checkpoints in the game are the treasured bonfires.

There's a little thing I've noticed recently while playing regarding Dettlaff, I think he has a soft spot for children. Not like Orianna who prefers the taste of children but actually cares for them. First clue was Regis talking about how Dettlaff killed the Brute of Lyria for murdering a child that had offered him an apple. Second clue is he resides in a toy shop (and presumably works there since you can find his tools upstairs). Third clue is his relationship with the bootblack. It's said in Strange Pomp and Circumstance that it was the bootblack who delivered the notes to Dettlaff. He's a frigging higher vampire for goodness sake, he could have easily interrogated the boy into telling him who was giving the boy the letters and thus found Rhena on his own. I also think he disapproves of Orianna's habits, as the two of them don't exchange any words during the table scene so it's my head cannon they have a mutual agreement not to talk about it. He also asks after Anna Henrietta's childhood.
@toja28912 жыл бұрын
Because Dettlaff is sensitive and good inside. He was just TOO sensitive and had bad luck to fall in love with evil and heartless woman. I hate how in a "good" ending everything is solved because he died. Syanna is the real monster in this story and in "good" ending she never face the consequences she deserved, while Dettlaff payed the highest price for being naive and too sensitive.

Fun fact: the story that is told while at the dead dragon's body is simply the legend about the dragon living under the Wawel castle in Cracow, Poland. I actually like the ending where both sisters die. Anna was in-fact too trusting; outright refused to compromise or believe (even for a second) that her sister wanted her dead. There was no option to change Anna's mind simply because she would not change, a realistic blindness that resulted in the tragedy of her death. I got the ending by accident (didn't read any guides; decided I was more curious about the Elder Vampire than anything else) so when Anna died, I was shocked. Normally I'd have tried reloading a save or something, but everything made so much sense and was so satisfying that I just left it as it was. Not every story in the Witcher needs a happy ending. Plus the Vampires in this were badass! Made me completely forget about all the glittery, high-school hunk, cringe romantic vampires that go around these days. Having a tragic ending only made me love the vampire aspect even more.

Just in case it's not been mentioned already, two things: From the very beginning you find hints about Syanna in Beauclair, in the form of old pamphlets telling readers that "the true heiress of the realm could return any moment" or similar. Also the ducal carlemango (sp? the one where you hand in the knight errand jobs...) sells chronicles of the realm, in two editions. The old edition tells of Annarietta AND Syanna, the new edition has deleted every mention of Sy. Also at the carlemango, for each knight errand job you completed, a scroll appears in the rack in his office, listing what you did, as well as some funny bureaucratic stuff supposedly related to it. So much fun stuff in this game...

The donkey pooping gold at the end of the giant's castle is a reference to a french fairy tale by Charles Perrault: Peau d'Âne (Donkey's Skin). It's quite a weird story, but basically it's about a king who wants to marry his daughter, daughter advised by her fairy godmother to ask impossible things off him to evade her father's demand. She asks 2 things he manages to do, and the final one is the skin of their kingdom's source of wealth: a donkey pooping gold and jewels. He does it. The fairy tale goes on after that and has a happy non-incestual ending if I remember correctly.

In the regards of them not asking how Geralt could defeat Detlaff when he previously stated it was more or less impossible I think we can give the benefit of the doubt the once Geralt produced the corpse of Detlaff they might not care about it much anymore and really are just relived the horror that has plagued the duchy is finally dead.

I can't possibly think of an instance when I think to myself, that Anna Henrietta is a good person.. if there's would be an ending where everybody lives and just her dies, I would call that happy ending.. sadly, there's no ending like this.. so I got my prison ending and then "happy" ending (because of achievements, and I really liked Syanna, I couldn't let her die - I choose this ending as my canon).. btw: it's not a chicken with a contract, but a duck..

This is the best DLC EVER! Nice video (As always)! Not being picky, just observing something...When you mentioned about the higher vampire around 11:07, it wasn't Geralt that killed Dettlaff, after he cut him in half, if you check the cutscene, moments after he's already reattaching the limbs, Regis ask you to leave him alone with Dettlaff and then finished him. About the land of the thousand fables, I've found almost everything (including the donkey and the two will o the wisps), but I missed the dragon and didn't squeeze Thumbelina.... LOL
@xLetalis3 жыл бұрын
Hey thank you for the comment :) About the Dettlaff thing... the duchess and Damien don't know about Regis, so they believe Geralt killed him
@ari.nogueira3 жыл бұрын
@@xLetalis true! I got what you meant now. This explanation was dealt in a background conversation (for plot/cutscenes sake) so we don't know exactly how did he explained his victory, but I'm sure it was pretty convincing once he got the Vinis Vinifera medal... ;-) Whenever you get a chance, did you find Syanna after completing the good ending? I think she was de-spawned of the world, meaning she's in custody somewhere serving her sentence. I was able to find Anarietta, Vivienne, but no Syanna.
@xLetalis3 жыл бұрын
