Yeah, I am legitimately confused why the reviews have been so bad. I can kind of understand the frustration with Philosopher's Stone/Dante's Inferno/spooky found footage combination, but that aside, it's a well-done movie. It doesn't deserve 26%!

i was so ready for Grave Encounters to be on this list. i think it’s one of the most effective found footage movies ever. the plot line is similar to As Above So Below in that the crew gets stuck in this endless hell scape in the abandoned psychiatric hospital theyre filming in. plus, the actual creatures we get shots of are honestly horrifying instead of just scene after scene of things moving on their own and hearing weird noises. 10/10, definitely recommend

The eeriness & mystery of "Joe" & his motives in the first one as well as his genuine fondness for Aaron in the first movie, followed by the surprising, brilliantly manipulative character Sara, & awkward chemistry of the protagonists make both the movies thrilling & hilarious while able to keep you on your toes in suspense throughout. @@woooooooo9061 yeah, so long as you're ok with lower budget film making. The atmosphere building and charm of it is awesome. Think of a scenario where Ghost Hunters (US Show) went to an actually haunted sanitarium and are trapped by an evil presence. If you liked the 1999 House on Haunted Hill movie I could basically guarantee you'll like the first movie. The second movie has an AWFUL intro due to character building at a college campus so you're technically ok to skip the first ten or so mins but it's a really awesome conclusion to the story; the two movies end up tying together really well and it ties up great too.

Cloverfield is my fav of them all but every one of the films are worth watching! All well done! “The Houses that October Built” is also a really good movie done in found footage style! 10/10

"As Below So Above" is way too underrated. This movie is really good. And has some great twits and turns. The ending is just mindblowing.

As Above So Below was a really good movie, I liked it a lot. Of course, it still had the typical flaws of a horror movie (stupid/reckless characters) but it was very interesting as a concept and I enjoyed it.

I love vhs 2, I will admit my favorite segment is the alien abduction one, to this day it still terrifies me due to the way the gray aliens are directed

Why isn't The Bay from 2012 here? It was fantastic. So happy I was told to watch it because most found footage movies are miss.

Lake Mungo is a hidden gem and VHS 2 is just brilliant! Creepy and scary! Shame VHS Viral didn't follow on the greatest of 1 and 2.

You definitely left out The Taking of Deborah Logan. One of the best found footage films I've seen in a long time. Also Grave Encounters 2!

What We Do in the Shadows is one of my favorite movies and the series is becoming even better. However, why is it being considered a found footage movie and not a mockumentary? There's a documentary crew following them around and interviewing them.

[Rec] was a really good movie, super entertaining. I recommend watching it on Crackle as it's the original Spanish version with English subtitles, everywhere else seems to be dubbed

A low budget one I watched quite by accident and was bloody good is Willow Creek. The middle bit trapped in the tent is so scary and well acted 🙌🏼
