This is easily the most useful video Gameranx has ever put out. I'm super excited to try a couple of these, like for example the keyboard mapper (for Fallout NV cause I HATE that I can't use 2 as a quick key), oh and borderless window thinger, and savegame manager, and I wish I knew about Ultramon because I bought Display Fusion, which is extremely handy but hasn't been well updated to Windows 10. WinDirStat is great, I've always tried clicking through my downloads/games/program files folders looking for files to delete, within 10 minutes of using it I found 200gb of junk setups and unnecessary language files for certain games. I also overclocked my PC with Afterburner (Meant to do that eventually anyhow) downloaded Flux (will see how well it works tonight), got borderless-gaming cause I know there have been times before where that would have came in handy, and also SuperF4 and Keytweak for the same reason. It's nice, I had to turn it down from it's original Halogen settings cause it all gets a bit too orange at default for me, but I found a nice level and I was able to notice the lack of straining my eyes usually do when using my monitor for long periods of time at night and immediately after turning it on in the morning/dark (also using the slow setting so it transitions over an hour instead of 20 seconds makes it more seamless).

Let Your HDD get to 5% fragmented and record how long it takes to start a game; then defrag and restart the computer. Try it again and you shouldn't even need to record times to notice a difference. It won't increase fps in games but it will increase general performance. Increase your virtual memory to twice your physical memory to reduce stuttering and load times in games.

You can get a pretty good used gaming machine for $600 that will play modern games at 1080p between 45-60fps. You can always upgrade the GPU later if you want to game in 4k, just make sure you get a CPU that can handle it (Basically any 2nd gen or above 4-core i5 or i7).

About LaunchBox: This video kinda makes it look as if you can download LaunchBox and then you can choose retro games, download it from some online archive and play it. This is NOT the case. You need the game, then you have to transfer it on to your PC and then you have to install it into the right folder after a rather complicated set-up process for the required emulator and THEN you can play the game.

Revo uninstaller is basically a program that tracks down every correlated or similar item in your PC, like if you accidentlly downloaded a virus that's spreading & you can't end task or anything it'll track down every file & force delete it off your PC

Be very careful with SuperF4, if you ctrl-alt-f4 on the desktop or not on any specific window it will cause most basic windows functions to stop working requiring a hard reboot.

How so? It's not free, has an annoying trial that comes up ever so often is quite bothersome to have pop up. 7Zip on the other hand is completely free and open source. The only advantage of Winrar is the virus scan which is only available if you buy the software.

Winrar and FRAPS are important for FPS monitoring and winrar is useful for just downloading things

How does monitoring fps matter to gameplay? "Oh god, it dropped 2 numbers, we're going to lose!" If you get video lag drop your settings. It's pretty simple to figure out without a tool.
