Something that has helped me a while ago and continues to apply; 1. Jordon Peterson: Maps of Meaning lecture series. 2. Jordon Peterson: Biblical lecture series Both are free on KZbin and only require you to listen. Life changing information, everyone I meet that is struggling I recommend they invest the time to watch and listen to them. In fact I challenge people to watch them all beginning to end.

I’ve always liked meditation. I always liked to meditate while I’d be out fishing in order to completely analyze everything about myself and why I am the way I am, or I’d meditate as soon as I get into a sauna, but mainly while I’m alone which is always the best. Kinda helped me with my anxiety and ptsd. Sometimes you don’t need to think of a thing and you just need to breathe, divert your attention to your surroundings and see how much better your mood and energy becomes. I mainly do that, and I tell myself that I’m strong for enduring what I’ve endured in the past every time I get bad anxiety. I’ve got a list of events I’ve been through that are a testament to what I’m able to endure or do.

Thanks for opening up about your situation. I am presently experiencing similar condition and have taken a parallel track in my efforts to shed some of the weight (minus the cold showers). I walk in nature almost every day accompanied by my daughter's two dogs, a lab and a golden. They are my therapists. I even find myself talking to them. Long may you run coach.

One thing I have learned is that ‘Mental Health’ is a euphemism for Anxiety and Anxiety basically is being overwhelmed by problems in life. Depression develops when the problems you ignore linger. Simplify your life, people get burned out otherwise. Your only one person, you only have so much processing power. Outsource as well to others things you can’t do yourself. Pay attention, stop procrastinating and don’t lie to yourselves and others. ‘Fix yourself before you attempt to fix the world’ -Jordon Peterson

Great video man, I feel like I've visited the 'rock bottom' you talk about and luckily I pulled myself out with a few methods, specifically putting myself in nature, walking more, cold showers, working out heavily and limiting screen time. But now to level up even more I'm going to introduce your other suggestions. Super happy that you're doing better man. Keep going!

"We the people are social" creatures which make us better in many ways. Interaction makes people happier. Depression isn't a mental illness because it is only temporary. Anxiety hurts but there are many things to mitigate its ill effects or duration. Physical activity is proven to reduce the emotional side of the brain and increase the logical part of the brain and many people feel better afterward just like doing something good makes you and them feel good.

Great stuff joe you certainly seem happier. I’d say another huge thing is fixing your diet. So much research is coming out now about how diet severely impacts mental health as well as obviously physical health. Eating low inflammatory, unprocessed foods like just meat and fruit and such can really work wonders and there’s so many testimonies about how low inflammation diets like a carnivore or whole food diet have fixed things from ibs to panic disorders.

I love getting out in nature and like touching live living things with my bare skin. It grounds me and I've read it helps discharge the static electricity in your body that can literally wire you up and cause some bouts of anxiety and depression, don't know about that but it has definitely helped me a tonne. There's a patch of grassy of field like a block from my place and I just do animal flow/primal movement session on there barefoot and it's amazing! I love taking cold showers in the winter so I'm forced to produce heat so I keep warm longer and hot showers in summer so my body is forced to cool me down so I stay cooler longer. When I take hot showers I go just below to burning temperarures... Like it hurts but doesn't harm, if that makes sense. I feel it forces me in an acute sense to overcome this 1 challenge and to calm my mind and tell myself I'm safe, like it's very theraputic and spiritual for me, and I believe these micro stresses help me feel more mentallt stable and like I have control over this 1 thing that I overcame which I believe can help translate into bigger things later on. I think of it like a bout of hormesis.

Thank you very much for the great video Joey. I just found you through Juji's channel and this video really resonates with me. I'm currently 260lbs of fat and I have been sliding downhill ever since I initially thought I hit rock bottom 8 years ago. Just started working out a few weeks ago and been hitting weights in the morning, walking 40 minutes a day and doing cardio in the evening. When you said to start hanging around winners and all that, where do you find those people? I feel silly but I've been stuck to a computer my entire life and have no clue where people meet each other. I feel like most people don't want to be disturbed in their lives so it makes it difficult to interact with anyone really :/ Another huge issue I've always struggled with is food. I'm definitely addicted to all kinds of fast foods and would appreciate any tips. I've started meal preping but, even with food already in the fridge, unhealthy foods are still constantly tempting me (even if there are none in my house). Also, it would definitely be nice to see a journaling video from you!

How do people incorporate walking in terms of sweat and clothing, weather, etc? Serious question. Because saying walking 10 minutes is easy. But if you are gonna make your work/day clothes swamp a$$, it’s problematic.

It boosts your testosterone, DHEA and your melatonin production. As soon as the sun is out get up and get outside. 20mins minimum being nearly in the nip for greater hormone benefits. Looking towards the sun (not directly at it) sunrise&sunset for great melatonin production. Sure helps the sleep cycles
