That is very interesting, Jennifer Campbell that you should mention such a thing. Many people think that human beings are "Good" at the core "heart" of their being. But the bible talks about humankind's "heart" is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked, and who can know the "heart" of humankind. Jeremiah 17:9 .... Rephrased you are saying the same thing "Every human is desperately wicked (has a monster inside) some(I noticed you didn't say all or most) just manage to control it." You have suggested that "we all" humankind have this "monster some just keep it locked in a cage, while others let it roam free. My question is, How then can "we all" get rid of it?
@JennCampbell7 жыл бұрын
Luke Williamson I'm not sure we can ever get rid of our dark side. I think it's better to admit that we have it. By facing reality we are able to deal with things as they really are, not as we wish they were. Example: An alcoholic in recovery will avoid bars, so as not to be tempted. If he was in denial of his addiction, he might go to bars, always planning on only having one or two drinks. Only when he accepts the reality of his condition can he deal with it in a successful way. I do not think most people set out to do evil things, but they are so disappointed with parts of their lives that they can't even face it, let alone except it, deal with it, and move on. The temptation of the easy way is just impossible for many people to fight.
@lukewilliamson54947 жыл бұрын
In many ways I would agree with you Jennifer, I like the fact that you are honest with yourself enough to see how the reality of human beings are, and have the potential within to do despicable and horrible things to one another. [ Now that does not mean that the person WILL choose to live that way, ONLY they have within them a "sinful" desire to achieve such things] If you have ever read the book the Lord of the Flies, the author brings out this point very clearly. (Which really makes a person think a little deeper about life) There are many people that do not want to accept this as their reality, they like to think that they would never do such horrendous acts and live with the idea that the are basically good. Many people hold to their pride strongly (stubbornly) and they tell themselves that they deserve and are entitled to so many things. But when in reality they are selfish, rebellious, and full of deceit [whether the deceit is to themselves (ie denial) or to others (ie they lie) to hide the truth] One of the KEY statements that you made is "Only when he accepts the reality of his condition can he deal with it in a successful way." but you left out an important piece of the puzzle, and that is " To who's standard should we as humans live up to?

As a fan of psychology I found that study very interesting when I first heard about it. However just earlier today I was watching top tenz channel who discussed the few flaws of that study in there "Ten more behavioural experiments that went terribly wrong" I'd recommend checking that clip out either way because the whole thing was pretty interesting. It just discusses the misconceptions of well known human behavioral experiments. Out of curiosity have you watched any of the show the 100 (it was on CW) ? I imagine the first season is a lot like lord of the flies in certain respects but it's been a decade plus since I read any of that book.

Hey Matthew, your videos are always interesting and informative, not to mention entertaining. There is one horrible human experiment that was carried out by John B. Watson called the Little Albert Experiment, where Watson took a normal baby and - in order to study the affects of stimulus conditioning - gave him a bunny and, when he touched it, Watson would make loud noises and expose the child to negative stimuli. The experiment resulted in the child being afraid of anything that remotely resembled the bunny (fluffy whit blankets, puppies, kittens, white mice, etc) which he continued to be exposed to, making him cry with nowhere to escape.

They got over it. You can argue circus freaks mentally scarred people in the same exact way
@lolanya007 жыл бұрын
It because the people really thought that the corpses were coming back to live, at that time science is not really advanced and many still believe in supernaturals and stuff so it make sense that they got freaked out.

And my teacher allowed me to do a different assignment (which I'm still waiting to do since she hasn't gave me the replacement essay yet.)

Lia McGee, Frankenstein was originally a book written by Mary Shelley when she, her husband, and some friends were telling scary stories on a particularly rainy and gloomy day while on vacation. She told a scary story, realized it had some literary potential, and wrote the book.

There are a number that you missed, and in fact, maybe you could do a sequel video. They include the broken toy experiment, the summer camp that made to groups of kids basically wage war on each other, the experiment that made kids attack a clown, and the experiment that turned a guy into the Unabomber. Oh, and the botched circumcision of David Reimer.

Madison Batten not sure I want the full details... can you explain the experiment in some detail?
@SirChubbyBunny7 жыл бұрын
I don't remember the details, but I heard this story where this guy was sent to an area of Alaska where a tribe was to scope the landscape out by the government. He befriended the people and wanted to investigate more of the reason why he was sent there in the first place. It turned out the government was working on something called Operation Chariot Wheel, which, to my memory, was a way to see the effects of fall out radiation first hand--even after WW2 when we knew of what nuclear radiation could do. The plan was scrapped after the guy was able to intervene by showing how it would fuck up the area's ecosystem, wildlife, among other things. It's still pretty fucked up, especially when you take into account that they knew there were people living there.
