Man, I was expecting nightmarish stories, but a number of these are... surprisingly reasonable. I can't personally approve, but at least half of these aren't any more than creative ways to enforce established rules. Of course, the woman who blamed phones on her kids behavior, destroyed them, and then posted it on social media is a giant hypocrite.

My father had a good way of getting the curfew point across. He'd just "borrow" one of the tires off my car after I came home. And reminded me while reading his news paper that I came home late that night. Always wondered how he decided where he would hide it.

Yeah, I definitely agree. I'd imagine the title would be more accurate if the word 'craziest' was swapped out for the word 'unusual' or something to that effect. Similar words, but 'unusual' doesn't imply that the punishments were unreasonable, which would make sense for some of these which didn't seem too bad, like the dad in his son's physics class.

Parents today sometimes think that the reason for there child misbehavior are caused by the social media, same as what my parents think, but Its not just the only reason. Most kids misbehave because of how they are treated and the situation that their in at home, if your parents keep on fighting, you not getting much attention, feeling lonely and being treated with harsh or physical punishment affects the child in their emotional at mental state, plus, the judgments in society. So to all the parents please instead of going into the conclusion that its caused by social media, understand first your child's situation or what they are going through. Because Maybe for some kids out there social media is there escape and Maybe the reason that they are still holding on.

When I was a teenager iPhones didn't exist and I didn't get my own gaming system until I was old enough to get a part-time job at 16. So my parents didn't have to deal with that. I loved being outside though and my worst punishment, to me at least, was when I was forced to stay home. I was forced to miss a big camping trip with my uncle one year due to that. It's something him and I did yearly and we spent a week camping and fishing. He jokingly was upset with me later cause he had to spend the week alone with my nagging aunt lol

I am the youngest of six so by the time I was a teenager I was pretty well behaved. I have three older sisters who really stressed my mom at times over being late or completely not coming home and staying at a friend's house without saying anything. The problem when they did that was that their would usually be staying somewhere else as well. You know the whole "I'm staying at so and so's house but in reality that friend and I are really going to a party in the middle of nowhere". Think small town in the middle of nowhere. One of my sisters went on a road trip with a friend and didn't tell anyone. Her and her friends couldn't understand why everyone's parents were freaking out when no one had seen three 17 year old girls for four days and missing persons reports were filed with the police. I remember my mom was calm around me, I was still a bit younger, but I could hear her and dad talking about it at night. Not sure if the case ever was heard of outside Oklahoma but it happened in the mid 90s. They were found of course and my older sister is a grandmother now but it's something she'll never forget. Her kids didn't do anything quite so bad but she did experience that kind of fear a couple times.

@@unitgamex2972 I had problems in school. I was never talked to, I had friends but nobody from school, and I was picked on by certain people. Highschool started like that and Sophmore year, I had more problems with staff members. I would be sent out for drug tests and mental checks even though I would be clean and not feel suicidal. The school mandated them seemingly for what I wore. I would wear band t shirts and beanies. I listened and still listen to heavy metal. They did the same exact thing to my friend who I still talk to and they tried it with my sister. The in school councilors called me down to the office one day. The main lady told me they change the my councilor. The first thing (we'll call her Ms. F) said to me was "So I read your file" that's not how you great someone when you first meet. I didn't ever talk to her or want to after that, even though the school tried to force me. That being said I assure you that we don't over exagerate and you shouldn't assume you know better than someone else especially when you don't know their experiences.

I hated that, my mom gave me a choice, she said I had to choose between getting my butt whupped or good soap in my mouth for a minute. Of course, I picked the soap punishment, and my mom would hide the cocoa scented kind. The worst punishment is getting pinched in your arm by your grandmother during church service.

There’s a line between discipline and abuse
@fbnflaviusbroadcastingnetw67864 жыл бұрын
Jade Colagross neither of these was “abuse.” let’s get the distinction clear. spanking is not abuse either. because people are so afraid of being labeled “abuser.” many don’t discipline their kids and the kids learn no stability, no boundaries, no accountability, and become wild. trust me, I know what “abuse” is growing up from parents. abuse brings on rebellion, identity crisis, codependency, depression, anger, dysfunction, fear, disability, low self worth, and ptsd. smothering, spoiling, over-domineering, no discipline, no guidance, no instruction, no affection, gaslighting, projecting, mental emotional sexual and physical attacks: now these ARE abuse, and abuse is Evil!

Both my parents were in the army so my punishments often included "cherry picking" "flipping pancakes' holding some heavy packs of computer paper or books with my arms away from my body, a combination of planking and push ups, whoopings, and/or kneeling in the corner. I have witnessed my neighbor making her kids run in front of or beside her car. We all turned out ok.

Wow, these parents really have more problems than disobedient kids... I hope the following psychiatrist bills are just as excessive as the punishments they gave to their kids. Seriously they posted that stuff on the internet, where it will probably never been deleted? I hope those kids will remember all of this when they choose the retirement home for those terrible people some day.
@sparkplug10186 жыл бұрын
Yeah they are SO strict right? Which would you prefer, a good and proper beating, or some embarrassing pics on the internet? Plus, when they get older, like most of us, they'll generate plenty of embarrassing pics on their own.
@nealsterling81516 жыл бұрын
@sparkplug1018 I would prefer to give them a good education in beforehand where they UNDERSTAND why they shouldn't do certain things. Punishment is just revenge and a failiure by the parents.
@sparkplug10186 жыл бұрын
Teaching our kids properly is the important first step, and making sure the boundaries and expectations are clear as day. But, when that kid decides to test the limits, which they will, we all did, thats when a punishment is needed. My kids testing me is hardly a failure on my part. Aside from that, kids mess up, and when you mess up as in life there is usually a punishment waiting. Severity is important, which dictates the severity of the punishment, but a punishment all the same.
@nealsterling81516 жыл бұрын
You must have missunderstood me. I'm not 100% against punishement. I'm against punishment that can stigmatise them for their whole life and i'm 100% against humiliation. If theres a climate of hostility in a family and kids view an parent as an enemy, there's something badly wrong imo. Explaining always works better. (HOW you explain things is another thing) (sry, my bad english.)

When my kids were little and wouldn't stop fighting, I made them sit on the couch holding hands for 10 minutes. But I would add 10 more minutes each time they kept fighting. When they wouldn't clean their rooms, I bagged everything on the floor and put it in the closet until they vacumned the whole house (3 rooms) and did dishes for a week.
