You're more than a song writer, world class singer, world class guitarist, etc. You're a life coach as well. I am going to seek help via your singing course. You really put your heart and soul into your content. God bless you brother.

Getting the Ball Rolling is Paramount to Growth. Once you start the mass in motion, inertia will help you keep it rolling. This applies to self improvement not just physics. Once we rest for a period, the longer the rest,the harder it is to get rollin again. Keep Rollin Foward my friend.

Ken, that's not cheesy. Not at all. As I know you are very aware when you envision yourself "winning" whether that's singing a song, running a race or working on a piece of artwork…a sculpture perhaps, you must see your self doing it...completing it! So much of a person's success lies in the ability to not only see yourself "winning " but knowing you have already won. I loved this video! So much great information and positive points that can be applied dailey. Keep'um comin'!

Oh yeah, I've noticed long ago as a Martial Artist that a good Warn Up Dramatically Improves Performance out the gate. Also Road Cycling, a 5-7 mile warm up prior to Hammer Time. So I do Sliders prior to singing. It makes a Major Difference, the Opener is on point & sustain is there for the set. My biggest problem is not laying back & settling in to my groove every time.

I see incredible changes in my voice over a month of learning to sing! which is a ridiculously short period of time. I had 3 classes a week with my singing coach but I also practice at home and work on my breathing almost every day. honestly, that's just crazy how quickly the progress goes . I don't compare myself with famous professional singers . all I want is to have my own unique style my own unique voice and be able to do beautiful things with my voice. I m grateful to God for giving the chance to learn how to sing.

I actually used those tips not for singing today but for a kid who wanted to learn how to ride a bike without a stabilizer. This little girl really wanted to ride one of her friends' bike(A bike without a stabilizer which she had never done it before). She was so frustrated and finding it extremely difficult to do so. Interestingly, my head was full of tips from this video, so I decided to try them out on this kid and see how it works. I told this kid to be okay with making mistakes. I told her I fell off my bike just the same as she did when I was little by showing old scars on my keens. I told her not to give up so easily. I encouraged her to break her learning into small steps, and celebrate them. I asked another child to demonstrate to her how to ride this particular bike and asked her to follow him and keep observing. I encouraged her to keep trying the whole time. After about 2 hours of practice, She suddenly clicked on and became capable of riding a bike without a stabilizer. I gave her a HUGE hug. She was soooo excited, she ran to her mother when her Mum came to pick her up. She proudly told her Mum that she NO LONGER needs any stabilizers for her bike. She showed off her new skills after. It was amazing!!! Thanks, Ken on behalf of this little girl:-)

I started singing during COVID lockdown. First lesson was in October 2020, at the age of 43. I was really unaware of how bad I was. Nearly 2 years later, and I have sang at a couple of open mic’s. This past Sunday I sang “Wheat Kings” by the Tragically Hip, while the host played guitar. Three separate people from the crowd, strangers, commented on how great of a job I did. I absolutely nailed that tune. I’ve been learning a song every week with my instructor for the last 2 years (some songs took multiple weeks). This is the first song I really connected with that I could sing really well, and I nailed it. Just wanted to share. If I can do it, anyone can. Just takes time and effort!

I was happily surprised when I heard you give tips on natural ways of treating our throat problems, and now I am happily surprised to hear motivational encouragement, I need a lot of that. I want to contribute with a great quote, even though I consider the forces of the universe a mystery and I don't call it God, here's Marianne Williamson, who does call it God, like you do: Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small doesn’t serve the world. There’s nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. As we’re liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.

Hmmm unrelated to singing, well actually that voice changing in "Love from Lybia" (hope its spelled correctly) made me think about voice acting or characters in singing. For example, Marko on Phantom of the Opera, and Annete in Halloween from Nightwish, or La Brie in Metropolis 2 (he does a lot of characters in that album) and through the entire Astonishing album (every character, seriously), or Bruce and Harris in Seventh son (playing the roles of profet and narrator) or Pachendale (soldier and narrator), Blind Guardians Orchestra where Hansi Kürsch just kills it with some really colorful characters (The Tower is mindblowing)... And anything Arjen Lucasenn touches... I mean this is obviously more common in Prog Rock/Metal, but I think there might be certain aspects of placement and such that help or ideas... Anyway, thought it would be interesting and a little different.

. What are the most common misstakes a newbeginner makes when they start to sing by themselves, or a voicetrainer? I used to be in the schoolband as the singer, but it was 38 years ago and I was a soccer athlete at the time, what should I think about to begin with? I have not even tried to sing for almost 38 years, Is there any extra good exercis to get stomach muscles that help to be able to sing, are regular situps good enough? Should I go for walks for 30 minutes every day and perhaps do some exercisers of some kind that help you strengthen your voice? Are there any good voicetrainers in Sweden, or is it better to do it online when you start? .

Regarding sit ups: I do a form of sit ups and singing at the same time in the first volume of my singing course to demonstrate the amount of a domino strength, or the feeling we should have in the abdomen when singing. In other words, identifying the whole core muscle structure. The problem is when most people do sit ups, they do them like crunches and they don’t relax between each set up. This triggers the entire abdomen to become incredibly tense and locked up or bound up. This is the exact opposite response that we want when we sing. So, no. Sit ups, in and of themselves, are not good for singing but to do them one at a time while singing and relaxing between each one is.

Hi Ken! First I want to say you’re awesome and wish I lived close to take your lessons. I had a question though. I have been a vocalist all my life. Not absolutely horrible. But not great. I have pulmonary fibrosis diagnosed in early 2022. I took off singing for almost a year while dealing with it and my breathing issues. Then I was reading singing could be good for lung issues to help strengthen the lungs as well. So I’ve since went back to it and it’s ok. But my disease definitely has interfered. I’ll be singing and get to a high part and my vocals totally go due to my breath running out. So is it correct it could help or are my days of singing over? I have videos on my page here though I’m sure you’re too busy to check them out. But if you could respond to my question I’d much appreciate it. Btw Gabriela is one of my favorite vocalist ever. You did an awesome job with her! Be well! 😊🎤🎵🎼🎶
@kentamplin5 ай бұрын
You can absolutely, and I mean absolutely, sing with pulmonary fibrosis. Obviously there are different levels of this disease but this disease is helped by people that understand how to increase lung capacity using both the upper and lower diaphragmatic muscles along with the transversus abdominis muscle that runs through the core of your abdomen, to get strength for lung capacity and conservation of oxygen while singing.
@Jademastriano65055 ай бұрын
@@kentamplin Thank you so much for responding! I’m still trying to figure that part out. I know pursed lip breathing helps me when I’m getting out of breath or to bring my oxygen saturation numbers up. But that’s all nose and mouth. Not so much diaphragm. I’ll have to do more research or see if there’s a breathing coach around here. Thank you so much and stay well! 😊🎤🎵🎼

Off note: did you ever hear of a guy names Steve Balsamro? He was in one of the many editions of JCS. Just curious..he has a “pretty stinking” wonderful voice. So I’m still waiting on Kings X…could you do a shoutout to them maybe then and now or sumthin..? Thank you Ken.🤘🏼
