As someone who plays Mekk-knights. I am kinda pissed that they left out an piece of Lore of the World legacy cards. Which is huge and expansive, basically an RPG plotline.

there are other inter-archetype stories told through yugioh cards but the world chalice story is my favorite cause I've literally been there to watch it since the world chalice cards came out in 2017-then krawlers, and mekk-knights, and the various extra deck evolutions of those cards which were all normal monsters, to orcusts which are basically the final battle of the story. Would be cool of there was one more piece to the story with another archetype, but I think it's pretty complete. I've read on the yugioh wiki the only explanation I could think of for this change. Since konami likes to reference their own properties in yugioh cards, Avram might be saying this because he bears a passing resemblance to Pit of kid icarus fame, who allegedly uses that as a catchphrase. But it's such a tangential connection, and such an awful change considering how important that bit if flavor text is to cluing people in on Avram's role.

@@SakuraAvalon or how any and all cards with "-roid" at the end of the name is considered a Vehicroid monster. This includes a monster named Dark Jeroid. Which isn't supposed to be a Vehicroid but is considered one because of the "-roid" suffix.

Best one is this old card that searches out one of the Guardian Monster's(Elma, Eatos, etc), but had an 'except Celtic Guardian, Winged Dragon Guardian of the Fortress' and others. Eventually they had to change how they cut them out.

I’m going to take a stab and say that the boobed version was the original, but the flat chest version was used for the international. While the boobed version was kept for the Japan release the year later. That’s the only way it makes sense to me.

To be perfectly honest, I'm not a YuGiOh guy. I never grew up watching it or playing the card game, I was too busy doing the same with Pokemon. That said, every video from this year has been pretty great. I've been here for a while now, and this is by far the best year I've seen on this channel. To be fair though, Yugioh was for pretty young kids... and Japan is willing to show different things to kids than in the West... btw, some Japanese people thought that Detective Pikachu might be a Pokemon movie for adults.... so culture values are different. But, I like the fact that even when they censored it, they did a good job and still made the cards great art pieces. It's still worth keeping.

@TheDeathmail Not really "pretty young kids", the target demographic is 12+. Pokemon is aimed at a slightly younger one, 6-7+ I believe so it makes a bit more sense there. The big thing is that a lot of the localization was handled by 4Kids, which was known for making bizarre changes, to the point they obviously were going above and beyond what was necessary. If you think YuGiOh's is weird, you should see their work in One Piece.

It's "Check THIS out!" with the emphasis on the "THIS". Getting the point across with as few words as necessary is a great writing skill. In this case it's about how Avram has really cool weapons now. You can leave the rest to your imagination.

What irks me the most is that Mekk-Knight Avram depicts such a heartfelt moment in the World Chalice storyline. It's a nice, Xenoblade-esque story of a boy and his companions trying to save the world, with awesome artwork to back it up. The original text alludes to the symbolic origins of Avram weapon and foreshadows the trials he will face in the future, and it shamefully got left out of one of the ONLY flavor texts released in 2018.

Rai-Mei wasn't the only one. The other one that comes to mind is Alich, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss. That card was a TCG-Exclusive as well. She got her chest plate (from the international version) swapped for one that shows her underboob. The part with marik really shows how og yugioh was inspired by JOJO'S. the various games in the manga really capture what great about the mind game that can happen in jojo but makes u feel more invested because it's like a puzzle you are given the pieces to solve so when see you were right it feels great

I'd like to point out a lot of modern "censored" cards are just altered to be thematically consistent with older cards they're related to. For example, the new Harpie cards had the purple bodysuits added just for thematic consistency with the older, censored art, and Hexe Trude's art was altered to better resemble the altered art that was in the anime, despite the card being significantly newer to the actual game. Also, here's a fun fact, Mythra the Thunder Vassal had her chest reduced in the TCG artwork of the card, however the token she produces still uses the OCG artwork, even in the TCG.

They might've changed it just because it didn't make sense or because they didn't want people making conspiracy theories or creepypasta about it. Still doesn't make much sense to me, but that's the best I can think of.
