I feel like most of the hate towards these styles comes from beginners who need to compensate for their egos. I myself am someone who is an art student and started out on digital with my dad's tablet. Now I do oil paintings in my realistic style. I appreciate anyone who is at least trying to improve themselves in some way

@@KoiKoi293messy line art can be a style, see horror artists and such. Beginner artists who use “chicken scratch” artstyles are using it as a way to branch off into their own unique style. There’s no right or wrong way to do art and if you can’t see that, that’s your own flaw. Everyone is so focused on beautifying everything to their own style that they forget these people have their styles too, let them flourish on their own rather than sending hate to them. Nitpicking on artists never help anyone unless they ask for the criticism.

"Chicken scratch" is a normal phase for most artists regardless of the path they choose, it's not that difficult to figure out why your lines are messy, it's just up to the artist themselves to decide if they want to get cleaner lines or expand upon it and make it into something unique. I started with chicken scratch like a lot of other artists and I added other techniques, I developed my own style. Giving hate that's masqueraded as advice on "mistakes" really is unnecessary and only stunts artists if they never asked for it. For example, what if they intentionally wanted to make the line art messy and people pointed it out to say how ugly their art style is, or how they're making a mistake for not cleaning up the lines? See, it's just hateful and unnecessary. Preferences in art are always related to YOU, because there are no universal preferences in art, they shouldn't be applied on other people just because you don't think it's right.

Don’t get me wrong, chicken scratching CAN look good but when it comes to beginner artists, they should know that chicken scratching can hinder their progress. Its ok to make mistakes but its not ok to keep making the same mistakes. Now, you’re probably going to say “chicken scratching isnt a mistake, its a stylistic choice!” Sigh.. when are we artists going to stop regurgitating this nonsense. I dont think caricature deserves to be hated, Caricature is an art style where they draw exaggerated version of u. Years ago it was used to make political statements in newspapers (even now) but i think the caricature artist on the streets just want to make people laugh. I dont think its for any harm, i didnt liked the fact people bash that form of art and say its gross. (Probably begginers said that) because of the semi cartoonish style. I know someone who draws caricatures and they're amaizing at it, i couldnt even draw like that. i dont judge any art form, even if its jelly or gacha. Every art style is valid, Aslong as it has no harm.

@@quemepartaunrayoiyo Thank you! :) Some realism art I can understand can come off as cringey especially when first learning since if you’re not proficient in conveying realism it can come off as uncanny, but people fail to realise how much of your mind’s capacity you have to utilise for sometimes weeks on end to achieve realism traditionally. My art style is usually semi-realistic, especially when I draw ocs, as I tend to simplify faces and take liberty with poses and proportion, but I can only do that comfortably without fearing inconsistency because I trained myself for years with realism. A lot of people tend to shame realism artists for ‘copying’ images, but these are most likely the same people who go on Pinterest and use someone else’s art to trace over their clothes to add to their own drawings since they can’t seem to figure out studying from life gives you a 3D understanding which in the end actually benefits you more. And additionally, a lot of realism artists use gridding for their artwork which is where people get the idea that we are tracing the image. For some artists like myself I have learnt the human body and each of its muscles from being exposed to studying anatomy (Book and Cadaver references), so am able to replicate that with an understanding of how each part of the body fits onto the skull plus its range of motion. I don’t think we should look down on any artist for learning and growing in different directions from our own.

yeah, but since anime is just a japanese term for animation (that may have been westernised) i would assume its what the majority thinks of when they say "anime artstyle", which ever art style that is. either way there are still different artstyles of anime, maybe Japanese illustration is a better term to use. i definitely dont like the western "anime" art style tho, feels like a try hard.

Im a jelly artist, not because I like it, but because its the only way I can draw, I’ve drawn everything, realism, semi realism, I still do a lot of semi realism tho, but what hurts the most is that this is the style I feel the most “comfy” to draw and everyone hate it JUST BECAUSE OF PURIRIKAA 😭 I swear I’m nice I don’t tell people to do evil things to themselves because they traced me, I literally was traced 3 times and the max I did was telling ppl in my channel to ask the girl POLITELY to stop tracing my art or else I’d strike her channel (she literally refused to stop saying she had “referenced” but showed no proof, end of the week she just admitted and stopped this whole saga) We are actually polite, puririkaa ruined our image, it’s so painful to not be able to draw because people hate the way you draw, I’d say the only style there I dislike is the one with super weird proportions that you’ve showed because it gives me uncanny but I’d never hate anyone for it 😔

I also support it bc it is very fun to just try making it as messy as possible, but it's less fun on paper, when I draw on paper it's more fun to try anime for me, but on digital, it gives me the "drawn on paper" feel when I look at it, especially when using the pencil brush. Just pls try it before hating, drawing is hard, I literally know nothing about how to draw it, I just try my best and that's okay, it doesn't NEED to be perfect because what matters is if it is fun to draw, if it looks good, that's just a bonus. Also there are a lot of benefits to using this art style, for one, almost no erazure, which is hard to remember since I haven't been using this art style for a very long time yet. And two, I am less angry at how ugly the lines look when I draw bc let's be real, I draw like a horse 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Even my stick figures have bad anatomy😂😂😂😂 but it's still fun. Well, moral of the story, just draw what's fun. If you are bad at drawing something, practice. My art style is a result of me giving up on anime, but I am trying again, a fresh start. I will not give up again. But first, I need to learn anime birds, Idk why but I can't draw birds, I CAN draw wings though. problem is, it makes you look like a beginner so when you say its an artstyle that means its intentional and not a mistake, chicken scratching is viewed (atleast to me) as unconfident lines/strokes by a beginner artist, not saying you gotta resort to clean lines that look traced (like they do with some ych and bases) but just dont call it an artstyle, just say you are learning, tastes will change during the journey.

Practicing and the like are important, but it doesn’t always result in a ‘clean’ art style. Many famous artists have ‘unusual’ or unrealistic art styles, but it’s not about how clean it is. It’s about the emotion it evokes and the thought behind it.

I feel like people think too little of caricatures. Like they immediately think about some random artists on a boardwalk charging tourists. Caricatures are just exaggerated portraits and they can help really well if you wanna learn things like character designs hell cartoons and anime can technically be a form of caricature

As a furry, there is no such thing as “furry artstyle,” but a genre. There are too many artstyles used to draw anthro characters to chock it up as an artstyle. Anime could be defended in this way too. Also people need to chill on chicken scratching, especially when it’s not gonna be in the final product anyway. People be acting like “there are different ways to make art” then vomit at the sight of something sketched in chicken scratch or black airbrush.

As a veteran of the OG gacha community I’ll try to clear up your confusion the best I can. Ok so in simple terms Gacha life (it also has a sequel game called gacha club). These games are Apps you can download. In the game you can create characters. Think dress up or digital dolls, you’re given a hand full of bases and you can customize every feature of your character however you like. In the game you can set your characters in little scenes. Now for a little history, because of the games feature people started screenshotting the science they set up and editing them together to tell stories, like a form of stop motion. The genre can be generally split into two categories GLMVs (gacha life music videos) and (gacha life mini movies) there are more but it would take to long to explain. This form of video was really popular amongst young kids in 2017-2019, naturally this created a community of fans the community was at its height in 2018. Around 2019 early 2020 a few bad eggs in the community started abusing the “you can create any story you want” aspect and started making inappropriate videos called “gacha heat”. It’s been heavily discouraged and frowned upon in the community but alas the internet does what it does and it take the bad eggs of a community and making them the poster child. Because of this The Gacha community started losing popularity getting a bad rep as cringey m. But the community lives on and there’s been a new wave gacha creators who excel at short for content and of course glmvs and glmms still very much exist and I personally still enjoy watching the from time to time. The images you pulled up are not fully hand drawn they are simply edited OCs from the game lol. Also the art style is called Chibi not Gacha. The game just happens to be called Gacha life / Gacha club so a lot of people call the style Gacha but it’s Chibi. Anyways I hope this cleared up some of you confusion. Bye ✌️

When people confuse chibis into gatcha. Though it most likely originates from games like gatcha life without that it actually had to do with other games that have gacha mechanics in them. That style definetelly can be caunted as chibi; big head, smol simple deformed body. Some of the "old bl style" is some styles that some korean manhwakas used back in the day. And how some people apparently draw these says too. They were not precentations of how majority of mangakas draw. Each has their unique styles after all. There was also that belief that the more bigger eyes; the more youthful and innocent the character is and some individuals really did pull that to the extreme.

I'm at once surprised and not at the amount of vitriol thrown at Hazbin Hotel's art style. To me, it's visually interesting precisely because it's SO sharp and exaggerated. It certainly isn't for everyone, but like the vague "furry" and "realism" top contenders, I think they have such wonderful appeal in their own right.

Furry isn't an art style. Same for how you couldn't call anime or cartoon an art style. However, anime and cartoon come closer to what an art style actually is. Furry is just making animal characters. In that way, you could say people hate that kind of character style, but it's still not an art style.

Ok you probably already know bc of the comments but I'll explain the whole gacha thing! "Gacha life" is a game made by Lunime. It's a dress-up game where you can customise your characters and adjust their poses, even putting them into scenes. The "gacha art style" Is when people take a picture of their character and render the image to make it look good. "Gacha games" Are usually anime-style games where you can get characters. The gambling addiction warnings come from the gacha system, which is a lot like gambling. The gacha system lets you put in a certain amount of the in game currency for a chance to earn a featured character or object.

If you are confused with gacha art style, here is my explanation! The gacha art style you were referring to is using the games : gacha life, gacha club and and gacha life 2! Gacha overall is an anime or chibi art style used for a lot of art. Gacha artists use these apps and use the characters they make to draw and edit with. The reason these are hated could be because of them using a 'pre-made' base or simply the look of the characters and videos. There are many different types of gacha so searching 'gacha' will show various options, for what you attempted to draw I recommend searching the app names or: gacha life videos/edits. I like adding animal features in my art, it's so fun and you cant tell me otherwise. It's just interesting adding them and also makes it more cute, who doesn't find animals atleast a tiny bit cute? I am not a furry but i guess i like the "furry artstyle" (obviously not the weird art part of it). Everything has a disgusting side of it, especially art. People draw characters in nsfw in almost all fandoms. Also just adding creature, monster and unusual features on my characters also make them more interesting in my opinion. Why is that so bad? For me at least: I think this is more of a thing with fanarts since we don't normally just browse for furry art unless we're really looking for it. More often than not, we just stumble by a "furry styled art" with a popular character that we know. Tbf, I also disliked "some" of the furry styled fanarts based on popular characters if they are based on "non furry" character and there's no other canonically means that can associate them in it. When people liked a character whether it's from a story, movie, anime or games, they liked them on how they were portrayed. This is not exclusively for fanarts turned into furries, but also goes with similar scenarios like the people who make fanart of characters to include their quirks and kinks. Sometimes it can be just as simple as people getting hate when they make a character that is canonically straight into "non-straight" and vice versa. It gives that feeling as if their favorite character was being misrepresented as something else.

You can do a lot using gacha - you can make stories, or even animate. For example, on my YT channel I post animations. Some people edit the characters - what this means is that they take a photo of their character, go to an editing app and draw over it to make it look better. People, who hate on other artstyles cannot draw. Art is about being open minded and learning from everything around you. Don't like something in this artstyle? Figure out what you dislike particularly and don't add it in your art. Just saw this in my algo, got curious while browsing around for art stuff. Truthful enough, I understand the dislike on some being a bit too unrealistic or exaggerated with anatomy. At the same time the only reason why I can't hate them is the fact that a lot of them pretty much came from a secondhand hate from people either who possibly dislike the culture that represents the said style. Like I knew people who get weirded out by furry or anime fans. By any means, everyone have a freedom to express whether they like anyone's style or not as long as we don't go out of our way to be rude to them. At the most, what we can do is to just focus on the art styles we like then leave and let live the others. As for people who have art styles that may be often "disliked" by others: Just do whatever you like. Either you stick with your style or change it only if you want to. There's always going to be people who will appreciate it. I'm just here to give every commenter a reminder that we all have different interests and opinions over something and it's okay.

About the gacha art style. There's a misunderstanding. When people say gacha they mean the games "gacha life" "gacha club" etc. simple dress up and story making games, nothing's wrong with the games but as they got popular, some weird kids have been posting weird videos that made people hate this game. As for the gacha games you've found, those are totally different games that come in different styles and genres where you pull for random characters denpends on your luck, and this game came from toy vending machines in japan that give you random toys. The gacha artstyle comes from the first games I've explained, which honestly has nothing to do with the term "gacha games" because the gameplay is totally different from actual gacha games.

In these games, you design characters with the items they have available to create different characters. That’s why they all look so similar. So, Gacha is a type of game where people use money to get new characters like in Genshin Impact. Genshin Impact is a Gacha game. Gacha is just like a claw machine if you think of it and the Gacha “art style” you included in your video is not an art style. So basically, people made their own character in a game called “Gacha Life” or other games. This game is produced by Lunime so nobody actually DREW it from scratch, instead, they use the character they made and took a screenshot of it, then used a drawing app to edit it. They do so by adding more details in the eyes, hair, add highlights and lighting, redrawing the clothes and mouths, etc. it’s not an art style.
