I feel like just about every studio album by the Rolling Stones since Tattoo You is overlooked and underappreciated. The band’s gigantic tours over the last 40 years seem to get more recognition than the albums they were touring behind, oddly enough. One album I would single out in particular as being underrated is 1983’s Undercover. It’s bold, creative and almost has the feel of a concept album. The Stones were rarely as ambitious as they were on Undercover, nor as willing to push boundaries. The album isn’t strong enough to be considered a classic, but it’s certainly unique and well worth listening to.

@@BrendonSnyder So many of Toto's albums were almost ignored on release. I seem to think that , as a huge Toto fan, the public paid too much attention to the critics , who seemed top make it their mission to diss whatever Toto did! It is only in the last few years that both the critics and a lot more of the public are conceding to: A- what a great band they are and B - what amazing music they have created over the decades.

Thanks for the list. I just listened to Chinese Democracy for the first time. Great album that to me gets better the further it goes along. There are some electronic music clips in some of the songs. I recognized one by Ulrich Schnauss’s album A Strangely Isolated Place on the song Raid N’ the Bedouins. Right at the beginning of the song. A big anthem rock album with great songs for that kind of sound. A side note - if you really like your synthesizers you may want to take a listen to the Ulrich Schnauss album called Far Away Trains Passing By.

The album I've long thought is criminally underrated is Queen's first album. In my opinion not only is it underrated but it is also the best album they ever released. Hi Brendon... an interesting "ranking". Peter Gabriel's "Us" is a great album... almost on the level with "So". I saw him on both tours. The "So" concert was may very first concert in the summer of 1987... what a great memory. On that evening Gabriel himself presented his support Youssou N’Dour on stage. Another highlight was the presentation of "Here Comes The Flood" in german language. The "Us" tour six years later was also fantastic. "Drama" from Yes... another great choice. That Quaternary EP is excellent! I’ve got a Japanese edition that added 4 additional songs for a total of 9 tracks. Kix is a great band and unfortunately all of their albums are underrated. Most people only know Blow My Fuse or maybe Hot Wire.
@treff9226 Жыл бұрын
Never understood why KIX aren't a much bigger band, I mean ALL their albums feature killer riffs, hooks, great vocal melodies, plenty of swagger, tight songwriting.....what in the world is wrong with people? KIX SHOULD BE MENTIONED WITH CRUE, RATT, DOKKEN ETC. 🎸🎸🎸!

MK3 of Deep Purple with Tommy Bolin released only one excellent album. It's sounding great and i figure Tommy fits well with the band. My favorite song is Keep On Movin'. Cov and the others did an outstanding job on it, of course on the other tracks too. I love this album and i can say one of my favorite albums by the band. There is an interesting story. The band travelled from England to Jarkarta where they were supposed to give a big concert in the evening (1975) .During the flight Tommy slept on his left hand over 9hours and when they arrived he had no feelings in his left grab hand. Several injections were also unsuccessful and so he played the gig in the evening with only 2fingers. That shows what an outstanding guitar player he was. Come Taste The Band with also great cover artwork was never underrated for me. I bought it on vinyl directly when it was published and my first reaction was, wow what a fresh and vital album. Even the great composer Gershwin was honored and that's really amazing. I like his compositions so much. Porgy And Bess with Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong in 1960 is awesome.

Unmasked was a big album here in Australia. It was top 3 on our charts and went platinum. Shandi was a top 5 song. KISSteria started here because of that album. They were mobbed like the Beatles were! I was a kid but still remember it on the news! I was raised on Queen and KISS and these two albums in particular are my favourites and I still have them in my vinyl collection. But all great choices 👍

I totally would not expect The Cranberries to top a Rock list but it sure is a good album. I’m partial to their 2nd album though. I agree with Painkiller form Judas Priest but didn’t include them since they are Metal and not rock. Love the Coverdale/Page album. A work of utter genius from those two.

@@BrendonSnyder For that I put their debut to top, is an incredible album made by really young guys. People usually know more the second album, it sold 18 million copies and here there is Zombie or Ode To My Family. But their debut is an authentic goldsmith piece, I can't understand how it is so underrated. Even B Side is amazing, with tracks like Liar or What You Were. Linger and Dreams are classics in music, but all songs from this album are as good as these songs

Despite the name should be a series (semi reguar) Thunder and Lightning was my first Lizzy, my rock friends and I went nuts over that one, Cold Sweat, This is the one. Also, US is awesome but a dense listen. Jazz: Least of that era, never got the whole jazz thing. Some classics on there (Dont stop me now) MC94 deserves a dedicated video it's a monster, my favorite Bob Rock, singular album videos would be great with your knowledge. Love the other choices as well, so much to say about each one.

For me Alice Cooper's best album is "From the Inside" which had Bernie Taupin helping on the songwriting. The melodies are strong and the material is based on real people Alice met while in rehab. Also underrated is "The Who by Numbers" which fell between "Quadrophenia" and "Who Are You". It starts with 4 very strong songs including 'Squeeze Box'. Yes there are a couple of ballads on it but they're effective and Entwistle's 'Success Story' is funny.

Of these I own.. 10. Thin Lizzy - Thunder And Lightning 9. Peter Gabriel - Us 8. Queen - Jazz 4. Van Halen - Diver Down "Jazz" to be seem a bit like a b-side album looking back but somehow most of it works and it is a very fun listen. It had some excellent singles and it does rock harder than some of their other releases. I return to it just as often as any of their other records. At one time I listened to Fat Bottomed Girls in my headphones while taking out money. I must have sung along without thinking about it because a girl behind me had the biggest grin! I don't really get why SO many people are against covers. I don't think a covers-album is the most fun idea but on Van Halens Diver Down most of them work and the original material equal much on their more beloved albums. While it would been even better (probably) with less covers and more originals I totally agree it is still a fun summer-album. In my record collection it is far from being one the weaker albums. Good video!

Brendon. Love that! Chinese Democracy at No 1. I was wondering - You showed us your various headphones a while back. Would you have any comments on headphone volume safety? Thank you as always. Have a great day and stay safe.
@BrendonSnyder3 жыл бұрын
Well I think I’m general, don’t turn any volume up all the way. For me personally I make it a rule to never turn it up more than 3/4 of the full way. If it goes to 10 I stop at 7. But most headphones are designed to not be so loud to hurt the heating. Also you’d have to listen to it that loud everyday for 8 hrs a day before you’d do any damage. So you’re probably fine either way.

Jazz, Motley Crue 94, Come Taste The Band, and Fly On The Wall are all either my favorites or pretty close by those bands. Chinese Democracy is probably my favorite GN'R album with a caveat. I personally think the track order is a little lopsided - too many ballad songs in a row. So, I will usually replace "Madagascar" and "Prostitute" with "Oh My God" and rearrange the tracks so the ballads are spread out more.
@BrendonSnyder3 жыл бұрын
Come Taste The Band is my favorite with Coverdale on vocals. And I love Motley Crue 1994 simply for Corabi. But Appetite will always be my favorite GNR album. But Chinese Democracy is a damn fine album in its own right.

Chinese Democracy has a lot of layers to it. Great album. Solid songs. Great production. It will be one that will be reappraised more favorably as time passes. On AC/DC I always felt that Flick Of The Switch was underrated coming off the heels of the Highway to hell/back in black/about to rock trifecta…the songs were still there and the production was raw which to me was refreshing.
