I used to be a pediatric nurse and diaper cream acts as a barrier to protect the broken down skin. I was taught after you put it on you don’t wipe it off on the next change. Just wipe normally and get rid of the poop. If you need to reapply in areas that is ok. After 1-2 changes it will probably come off and you can gently wipe the sensitive area and apply new. I hope this helps!

My baby had really bad diaper rash and also did the biggest poops I've ever seen come out of a child that small (literally took him to the dr due to poop size lmao) so I just didn't feel like he was clean or fresh if I didn't wipe all the diaper cream off and reapply afterwards!

As an auntie not having children, I'll be coming back to your channel over and over again. Thank you for this, I'm always trying to look out for mom's self care and mental health. And I want to be supportive of moms before and after the baby is here. By watching this, I can give my cousins who are moms/future moms the breaks they need when I'm called to. There's no manual when it comes to being a parent, and this is the closest thing to it, thank you! I really wish I had your videos in my early 20's when I first started being an auntie, because I wasn't sure how to help. With your videos by my side, I can just look and find the answers I'm looking for.

These are great tips! As far as wipe hacks go, when I lay my baby down to change her I open my pack of wipes and go ahead and pull out a couple before I take off her diaper, that way I can just wipe freely, no struggle and if I happen to have one leftover at the end it’s simple to just fold it in half and tuck it back in the pack for later!

Dreft has an amazing stain remover!!!! Even if it’s been a few hours and the poop has dried I’ll spray it then rub it with paper towel some and leave it for a few minutes and spray it again right before throwing it in the washer. Great tips! Also in the comments. My babies have had awful diaper rashes for various reasons. ESP that teething poop that causes burns.. the absolute best thing and the most simple plus cheap, is plain cornstarch. Used like a powder on their bottoms, it dries it right up, feels soothing and heals it quickly! I’m never going back again! It’s truly amazing.

We use a Summer infant bath sponge. They’re inexpensive and work great in the bottom of the tub or sink. Also, if you find that a poop stain doesn’t come out in the wash, just set it in the sun to dry. The sun naturally removes poop and spit up stains (if it’s not gone after it’s dry just re-wet the clothing and place in the sun again)

Great video! But for bum cream, Desitin works awesome and doesn’t gum up. Also, you don’t remove bum cream. It acts as a barrier and will just wear off or come off when you’re cleaning them up after a poo. You will cause a worse rash trying to wipe it off every diaper change. You don’t need to wipe their bum every change if they just peed. Our son was in the NICU, and the nurses there told us this as well.

If you want to forgo having a baby bath go and look for a midwife tutorial on how to bathe a baby. We are trained how to bathe in any area a sink usually. They will teach an easy one handed hold on the baby and then you use the other to wash baby. Simple no extras required. Also I can recommend baby liniment and plain old allepo or other Castille bar soap along with some jojoba oil for all baby washing and diapering needs. Low tech and old fashioned I suppose but they work.

Sleep training: Put them to sleep with noise or else you will always be tip toeing around them. My son can sleep through a train wreck...he’s 8 now. Lol

Why don’t you take out the appropriate amount of wipes before starting the diaper change. I used to work at a daycare and we had to wear gloves. Once we wiped, the gloves were considered “contaminated” so for poop we would take out 2 to 3 and pee was normally 1. Worked every time

Another tip! Sadly a lot of babies are actually alergic to singel use diapers... if parents notice that the baby has too many diaper rash you should try diferent diapers, or even cloth diapers ;)

Serious question: is it necessary to have any standing water when giving baby a bath? Why can't you just get one washcloth sudsy, scrub up, then hose down baby with warm water? Quick and no waiting for tub to fill when little one has such a small surface area to clean. My shower has a hand sprayer attachment, but you could easily do the same thing with a strategically poured cup of water. I am 34 weeks and I was just planning to do washcloth wipe downs and then sink baths once baby is old enough to sit up unassisted.

Yeah I feel like that’s a totally fine way of doing it! Sometimes instead of a bath, josh will take rook in the shower with him to wash up

You can totally do that but around 3 months the enjouy.the bath and kicking in the water is good for their leg musle developers so bath time is fun and functional.. but when in a time pinch ..your suggestion totally works fine
