The old "cut and turn" on my HP44 wasn't bad to do, I doubt the "duck peope" would be willing to try. It was worth it tho, 100%! I like nerding out with u guys, keep up the good content 🤘

Very timely video for me, as I just experienced death wobble 5 times in a row going down the highway yesterday afternoon 😂 I appreciate the simple yet detailed explanation of Jeep suspension!

I really appreciate the deep dive into the mechanics of Jeep lifts and portals in your video. The detailed explanation of how suspension modifications can impact ride quality and vehicle dynamics was incredibly insightful. It’s great to see such thorough coverage on a topic that clearly affects driving experience and performance. You got me sold on the portals !

If it wasn't $5000 per wheel, it is an insane amount. $20,000 cost can be a lot of upgrades otherwise.
@JoeRocca-zf2el
@JoeRocca-zf2el 8 ай бұрын
And none of those upgrades give you ground clearance. By the sound of it, a lots of customers disagree with your comment on price. I remember my father once saying to me “expensive is a relative term”

So what would be the best way to add travel to the front of an f250 super duty? Longer radius arms, springs, shocks, and track bar? Like you said, 99% of trucks just space the bump stop down.

Really good content fellas. I’d trade my lift for portals for sure if $$ wasn’t an issue. I would like to hear what style tracbar brace you guys like and weather adjustable shocks are a good setup with the stock suspension?
@74weld
@74weld 8 ай бұрын
That’s an easy one. WFO concepts brace, steersmart steering…and I’d either run a Fox shock or a Fox shock. I have the 3.0’s with adjustable clicker…and I never change them because I am lazy and they just work

How much of the bump steer conversation is applicable to Tacoma’s; stock or lifted? My 2017 had a decent amount of bump steer stock when just driving over speed bumps, the wheel would just bounce back and forth. Same if not worse when lifted with the eibach kit and JBA’s.

But there are also disadvantages. With portals, the unsprung mass is increased, which can make driving on the road worse, and the track width is increased, which can also be a disadvantage.
@connor3288
@connor3288 6 ай бұрын
To be fair, if you are lifting your jeep you are likely putting on bigger heavier wheels and tires as well, which will also increase unsprung weight. Horses for courses, you wouldn't use/wanna use portals for a desert prerunner for example. Some of the increase in unsprung weight could be offset with smaller tires. With the portals you could have more clearance with smaller lighter tires. I think the portals are awesome.

Does that kit have rubber bushings in the arms? I remember researching lift kits years ago and Metalcloak seemed to be the best engineered with their control arm design. I think high clearance fenders and no lift is very appealing as well.
@delagto_5340
@delagto_5340 6 ай бұрын
@@connor3288 yes rubber bushings that allow flex. Also the joints then selves are welded at an angle to allow proper alignment within the pocket and create less binding. Some others kits have this may others don’t. I’m happy and suits my girlfriends daily driver weekend toy needs
@connor3288
@connor3288 6 ай бұрын
@@delagto_5340 was asking guy about the clayton lift, shoulda clarified in my comment. I know metalcloak has rubber bushing option. Arms without rubber must be very harsh,and I would worry about stress cracks over time.

Credit to who ran that "study" with the multiple lifts/jeeps?
@eriksteinholt
@eriksteinholt 8 ай бұрын
The study I was referring to was performed at Dixie 4x4 in Moab in November of 2020. Over the course of 2.5 days, Bryce, Milt, a mechanic named Justin and I built 6 JLs with different lift kits while Brad from Trailrecon filmed. We then spent a few days measuring, driving and comparing the vehicles. Shout out to Trailrecon for putting together an excellent two-part series on this. For anyone interested, search "Ultimate Jeep Wrangler Lift Kit Comparison". Brad does a good job of describing the user experience of each kit, from install to daily driving to off-road.
