Dr. Oliver Sacks was such a kind man. We need more people like him. I have Charlie Bonet Syndrome and epilepsy. Vision and hearing issues and autism as well. This man’s work was a great comfort, knowing others had experienced similar to my own.

Hi I've got pica but personally nothing harmful just wierd, I like to eat chalk and clays and when it's possible buy some edible chalk from Ukraine or Russia My family doesn't acknowledge it tho so I don't really have access to any edible chalks and the craving is still there I kinda started eating my walls again which it's started before I found out that I could get edible chalk that doesn't have any toxins in them. Now I haven't aten any walls for about a year now but the craving is Def still there now and then but genuinely I get it into control by watch chalk eating asmr and found that there are lots of people online who feel the same as I do and don't just get laughed at and ignored

Do people with synesthesia literally see color when looking at or thinking about words? I mean, the way I see the colors on this page? Or can they merely associate a word with a color? I do the latter.
@notfamedtvpersonalitydrphil3 жыл бұрын
That would be associative synesthesia (what you can do) whereas the former is projective synesthesia

I have synaesthesia and it doesn't really do anything aside from making spot typos instantly. Letters have an associated colour for me and misspelled words stand out like flags that use one wrong colour.

Okay, I don't know if I have synaesthesia, but I associate certain colors with certain letters and numbers. Like, if someone says "meet you there at 3PM," I always think of the color green because that's what I associate with the number 3. When I was little I assumed everybody had something like that, but people kept saying they didn't when I asked them. So... shrug

“Strange” doesn’t seem like the right word (at least not ethically speaking). People’s mental health shouldn’t be trivialized in this way
@perlakaram44954 жыл бұрын
Strange isn’t an insult. He used it to express the fact that these disorders are rare and difficult to wrap your head around. Also, people with mental disorders who have insight (knowledge of their disorder) understand that they are “different” and that is part of helping them improve. You need to acknowledging the disorder in order to overcome it.
@fayevinyl45964 жыл бұрын
It just means it's rare.
