fixes for all of the things he "hates about vr" (external factors): 1. link cable for better gameplay (i'd reckon if you buy a 350$ headset that you alr have a pc) 2. small fov, buy a better headset... this is like saying "things i hate about pc, bad graphics" just buy a new one or don't complain 3. not immersive enough, dawggg, that's your OPINION, that's not factual 4. expensive headsets, buy a quest 2, or if you have bad immersion then maybe... just maybe, same as with the pc's BUY A BETTER HEADSET 5. motion sickness, play more, you'll get used to it 6. Small spaces, this one i don't have a fix for, buying a new house is NOT reccomended just to play vr, tho you might find somewhere else where you can play vr 7. fragile headset, be careful with your stuff and don't smash it against other objects 8. no promised features, features don't really matter since you are playing a game 9/10 times you are using a vr headset... 9. horrific software, ^... aka, same as with no promised features... + it is decent, i've been using quest 2 with link for about 9 months now and i'd have to say that the software is decent. Not bad but not apple level 10. Burn in. TAKE IT AWAY FROM THE WINDOW Edit: fix for number 1, could also be buying a battery pack, and a new strap with battery pack support if you want extra comfort

I don't know how you can stand playing with a cable. I've used an index too and got a cable for my quest, but once I've tried playing wirelessly with virtual desktop I never went back. The graphical fidelity looks the same to me and it feels a million times better not to have a cable pulling on my head and just turning corners as fast as I want.

@@ImpalerVR i know what you mean, i used to mainly play gorilla tag so when i got a link cable it was really annoying but a while later i bought beat saber on steam where you aren’t meant to turn around or even move for all it’s worth, i guess battery pack was indeed better, like gegoryshortestfilmanim635 said, but i just didn’t think of it since i had been using link and it was the first thing that came to mind.

Don’t listen to much of this, some are just his own opinion, if you want a great first vr experience, get the quest 2, its almost been 5 months and ive been using it nonstop and i don’t have ANY accessories for it, the only problem you’ll have to worry about is maybe hitting your wall and battery life could be solved easily if you plug it into your pc (non workout user) or battery pack (maybe for longer workout seasons) the quest 3 is pretty great but the mic is terrible, but hopefully the quest 3 lite can fix all of these issues, anyways enjoy the quest headsets and the lenses won’t be messed up from sweating.

WAYS TO SAVE BATTERY LIFE: extended battery or dont go in passthrough plug into computer (dont need steam, need computer tower) turn off hand tracking, use controllers (very small difference) NOTE: if you have a quest 3 (i do) the straps with battery are 100 dollars, so buy a quest 2 one! its only about 30 dollars and theres only one problem: if you have a small head it may not fit because it is thinner than the quest 2. (how in the world did i type this in passthrough 💀)
@Phantom_Foxx6 ай бұрын
index issues are mainly the controllers and if u mount ur cable from the ceiling with retractors (20 bucks on amazon) it helps with the fragile cable. Ive had my index 5 years and killed 1 cable (my fault) and had 3 sets of controllers first 2 sets under warranty 3rd set still work but have some issues. The headset itself has been durable its fallen 8ft from the ceiling onto hardwood floor no damage. the glue issue is around the lens use alcohol and micro cloth a few times and it goes away.
@DogeMcMuffin7 ай бұрын
This is what I do for longer battery life. I grab an extension cable and plug it into a wall, and I grab a Samsung cable and attach it from the extension cord into my headset. I play for 5-7 hours a day. (Its a lot cheaper)
@gamernater70676 ай бұрын
Fixes (If Possible): Low Battery Life: You will have to get the headstrap with a battery. Small FOV: Without getting a new headset, there is no fix. Not Immersive Enough: Most fixes are very expensive but include haptic suits, treadmills like the Omni One, etc. Too Expensive: Just like you said, the Meta Quest headsets is probably the best option and has even more games than other headsets. And as a side note, if you use SideQuest, it unlocks even more potential. Motion Sickness: This isn’t guaranteed, but if you smoke or drink, avoiding these things before using VR might help. I AM NOT A DOCTOR, DON’T TAKE MY WORD FOR IT. [I ONLY TESTED THIS ON THE QUEST 2] Small Spaces: If you have a bigger backyard. Then the Quest 2 will work outdoors. Many people (including me interpreted “Do not expose lens to sunlight” as never go outdoors, but as long as the lens isn’t directly in sunlight it can be outdoors. Fragile Headsets: No fix. No Promised Features: No fix (that doesn’t involve public backlash). Bad Software: If anyone knows C or C++, is it difficult to learn or hard to make a good UI with it

I see a lot of people in the comments hating on the guy but i think he has a lot of fair points like the headsets being fragile and/or expensive. These things are meant to be handled by humans, waving and moving them around in small apartments, they HAVE to be built in such a way so that they don't break after hitting a wall or smth. You don't want such expensive stuff to break from regular use. But But Motion sickness goes away after about a month of vr, so if you're feeling sick, take a break and get back into vr when you're better. Some people even have motion sickness for regular 3d games and same applies here

Its much better in every way and will have support for a much longer time. Idk where you're at so I can't say much on price but in the US the 128gb version is $500 while the Quest 2 is $200 and personally I think its worth the extra money for the quality and peace of mind that it will have continued support for at least another 3-5 years (just a guess) I feel like its a better choice to save up for something that will last longer. without watching the video, going off the chapters cause lmao these are some stretched, pretentious, useless-for-newcomers ass complaints and I do not care; (if you have not read this part in full mental capacity let me extend it a bit for you, any comparisons an examples I'll give, I don't mean to imply was a point made in the video, I'm just assuming the worst given the type of video, also given I trust myself in the topic) 1-play cabled, stick a powerbank in your pocket, DIY some cable management, or worst-case dish out the moolah to fix your problem of batteries or cables. 2-absolutely useless complaint for a newcomer, you only notice it when you really start getting invested, it's kinda like how 30FPS doesn't matter to someone playing games for the first time but how anything lower than 90 is a code red for some nerd building a setup with a 4090. and even later, 110 deg horizontal on the newest budget sets is much more than anything you'd need unless you wanna go fully hobbyist mode with a pimax. 3-objective as hell, you wanna nitpick about how 0.1 candela of light seeps through the nose hole, next up you'll nitpick the nose hole is too tight, it's called PLAYING, if you don't want to play, if you don't want to have fun, if you can't spare the mentality to pretend, you should wait until 2060 when they shovel feed this stuff into our brains. 4-meta's official price reduction of the quest 2 is at the moment 200$, that's excluding completely flawless 2nd hand sets, prior to it, the HP reverb G2 also had its price cut to 200$, older set so probably much cheaper by now in the 2nd hand, not gonna do that research for you though. compare this to not only modern console/phone prices but also compare game prices, you're paying 60/70$ per for a modern AAA made for a modern console/PC, about 90% of VR games are indie or AA, making the games at most 40$, and that's the peak premium. You wanna discuss enterprise sets and hobbyist alternatives to newcomers? do your research. 5-you. get. used. to. it. "VR Legs", it is human nature to adapt, you will not be an immediate master at anything you start. 6-I refuse to watch the video, let alone hear what you sound like while you sound off these terrible takes, I assume this is about play area? you know what you're getting into, they warn you ahead of time, even then, most games with considerate devs code in sitting controls to their games, you wanna go out of your way to play an abandonware tech demo from 2016, go ahead, just don't bring it up as present fact. 7-Fragile.. so is your mouse if you ape at a game and throw it at your wall, so is your controller if you mash it into the coffee table after losing a race. As long as you aren't a bumbling baffoon who can comprehend object permanence and has the attention span to remember you are in fact, still in your room, you cannot complain about porperty damage you caused in full consciousness. 8-I assume this part is about how.... and I'm trying some real mental gymnastics here to stoop down to what you may have gotten stuck on... maybe it's about features-in-development? actually clicking on it and yeah exactly, and you brought up marques' video completely out of context for it also, how cute. So, you buy a product knowing damn well products in the same line before it have improved through software updates that spanned several months and years, and are now miffed the comparatively new edition doesn't IMMEDIATELY have said software updates? 9-best I can assume is you also complain about any mobile phone software that isn't IOS also, advanced tech means better tech literacy required. 10-damn you actually had me click on the video again for this one, and let me tell you what such clickbait that was, literal on-the-box warning for you to NOT let sunlight get through the lenses and you bring it up as an aspect you hate, this really should just be the summary of the whole video shouldn't it? Tech illiteracy at it's finest. Gotta love YT for putting such nonsense into my recommendations, letting me actively know such people get fed slop made by ill intentioned people who somehow get a say just cause they know an iota of editing skill and nothing else.
